EuroV8 Cup
Approved by Cy.
EuroV8 Cup
The EuroV8 Cup is the follow up to the European Late Model Championship. Progressing from an aim to provide a series for drivers unable to find the budget for a top series in the US, the EuroV8 Cup now aims to provide an affordable European touring car championship.
Utilising touring cars meeting the FIA Class1 regulations, the series will develop both a championship for the drivers and for the manufacturers, with the series only allowing four separate manufacturers into the championship to form a competitively fought series on all fronts.
The series is to be contested across Europe, primarily in Western Europe with the series visiting the likes of Grand Prix venues such as Spa, Silverstone and Montmélo as well as other internationally renowned circuits as Brands Hatch and Nogaro.
Alongside being cost effective, the series offers large track time including 5 test sessions across the season, 2 of which to be utilised by manufacturers to test young drivers, with a race weekend comprising of a long 180km race with a qualifying session and 2 practice sessions.
Sign Up Rules and Guidelines
-No drivers competing in any other major championships full-time may contest the series.
-While I am happy to allow drivers outside of Europe, I would prefer a more European orientated field.
-Sponsorship wise, consider that the series is European orientated, so companies which have none or little operation in Europe would not be advisable.
-Teams are allowed a maximum of 2 cars, unless it is officially backed by the manufacturer (as noted in the team chart).
-Ride swapping is allowed, such as with Emanuele Lodi and Giancarlo Corelli in the #15 FIAM, however any driver which is not registered for the first round of the season will not be eligible for points in the drivers championship.
In order to sign up, edit your team into the team chart on TMPedia here:
http://formularejects.com/tmpedia/2015_EuroV8_Cup_season
Ratings package
The only section you will need to fill in is Section 1 as all circuits next season will be run on a roadcourse, while the cars ratings will depend on which chassis your team is running. These ratings are balanced (with the exception of the Indama which is intended to be slightly slower and unreliable) to ensure competitive and close racing throughout the grid.
The ratings stacks to be applied are +10, +5, +0 and -5 as it was last season.

Depending on how many cars run per race, your gonna need some fillers. Only 12 racers are competing in the first round! Also, can you pm me my cars or make a carset?

I will have a grid of 18 for the first round, which as far as I am concerned is a realistic size for an unestablished stock car championship in Europe. I think it should be fine.

Well, it is a realistic grid as the Whelen Series has at least 40 being estabilished, so would say that is good.

Christian McMillan seals pole for race 1 and race 2 at Warneton
Ex-Dash Cup driver Christian McMillan has secured poles for both the first and second race at the inaugural European Late Model Challenge round at Warneton. Having run towards the front throughout practice, McMillan set a time of 14.466 following a strong 2 lap run during the session which would determine the starting order for race 1. His time would place him barely one tenth ahead of nearest rivals, former CRL driver, Matais Schleir, and McMillan Autosport team-mate, Callum Morgan, who had set times of 14.563 and 14.564 respectively.
Italian driver, Vittorio Amati, and German, Viktoria Draachreider, both failed to convert their promising practice pace where they had finished 2nd and 3rd, instead qualifying a disappointing 17th and 14th.
Patrick O'Hanagan rounded out the back of the field following a multitude of accidents in practise.
In qualifying 2, McMillan once again lapped the fastest although 2 tenths slower than his qualifying 1 time. Draachreider made up for her poor running in Q1 and set the second fastest time only half a tenth off of McMillan. Morgan was once again 3rd, however 4th place was the Italian woman driver, Marianna Palazzo, who had shown early signs of difficulty earlier in the weekend but continued on to deliver a confident performance in Q2.
Race 3 of the weekend, held on the Sunday evening, will be decided based on the results of race 1 with positions 1st to 10th being reversed.

Allain "thrilled" with Race 1 and 2 efforts; hopeful for Race 3:
Mireille Allain's first go in a late model stock car went better than she could have hoped.
In Race 1, she started eighth and picked her way through the field, coming home in 4th place. Allain duplicated her effort in Race 2, starting seventh and claiming her first podium finish in the process with a third-place run.
"Je suis enchanté!" she said in her native French. "Pour finir ce succes dans mes deux premières courses est quelque chose spéciale. J'espère que ma chance détient pour Course 3!"

- Two Races, Two Podiums for Marianna Palazzo
Rounds 1 and 2 of the European Late Model Challenge's opening weekend saw Christian McMillan dominate at the Warneton Speedway, leading every lap in both races. The second spot on the podium was also occupied by the same driver in both races; 22-year-old Italian Marianna Palazzo.
Palazzo started in 5th and 4th in Races 1 and 2, respectively, on her way her two second-place finishes. Palazzo had this to say after the conclusion of Round 2. "We have a very good racecar today. The car is very fast, and I'm very happy to be at the podium two times! I also have a lot of fun to race the car number nine. I hope that the race tomorrow will be good, also!"
Prior to this week, Palazzo, has had minimal experience participating in amateur Italian club races and karting events.

- Filippa D'Ambrosio happy about finishing. Vilar reacts to first top 10.
"We did it!" said a very happy Filippa D'Ambrosio after finishing the first race in 11th place. In race two she would finish 12th."We're just happy about finishing this race without any problems, I know that our equipment isn't the best, but we came faster enough to clinch a good result here." - said a very happy Filippa.
Mauro Vilar had a mixed reaction after each race, on race 1 he was disappointed for finishing outside of the top 10: "We made our best, but it didn't worked. I just hope that we may have better results in the future.", after the race 2 he was very happy: "I can't believe that we did a top 10, as my teammate said, we don't have best car, but we worked hard and picked up pieces."
- Spoiler:
- Patrick O'Hannagan: Everybody is against me!
After being one of the slowest cars on qualifyingand the race, finishing in front of the damaged and retired cars in race 1 and being the last car to finish on race 2 with a camshaft issue, Patrick O'Hannagan, owner of the Hannagan Enterprises that will have a part-time schedule in 2014, had some strange words to say about the others: "Everyone is against me............me backmarker, and lost track and speed.........and engine kaboomed in race 2, i'm not happy......" - some people say that O'Hannagan might raced drunk in both rounds........

- Spoiler:
- Third Consecutive Podium for McMillan and Palazzo
Marianna Palazzo began the final race of the opening weekend of the European Late Model Challenge by receiving damage in an unexpected crash on the opening lap, which saw the KFC Australia Autosport car of Jackson Christian flip over. However, Palazzo, who had started the race in 9th, was not slowed by the crash, and was able to finish in third at the end of the night. As the series leaves Belgium, Palazzo now has three podiums in the first three races, as she finished second in both of the first two rounds. This means that Palazzo also leaves Warneton with a second-place championship rank, behind only Christian McMillan, who won all three races.
Her high championship rank is even more significant than it would normally be. Recently, it was announced that Milan-based automobile manufacturer FIAM will be providing the top 3 drivers in the final championship with a test in a Dash Cup car. According to an interview of Palazzo that was spoken in Italian, she has stated that she is confident that she can become one of those three drivers, and that she is going to prove to FIAM that she is a capable racer all season long in the ELMC.

Re: EuroV8 Cup
- Spoiler:
- McMillan Dominates Weekend, Morgan Meets Expectations
After being left without a ride in the Dash Cup series for 2014, Christian McMillan went and formed his own race team after the new European Late Model Championship was formed. McMillan grew up racing late models and held high expectations for himself coming in to the season, and those expectations were met, as he would win the pole and the race for each of the first two rounds, then coming back from a tenth starting position in the third round to win after the top ten wound up being inverted. In his post-weekend interview, McMillan stated that he was extremely pleased with the team's performance despite admittedly claiming his race three was "messier" than he would have liked.
Callum Morgan, the driver hired to run his second car, had been informed his weekend expectations would be just to bring the cars home in one piece, which he did.

- Allain frustrated with first-lap impatience:
Mireille Allain's first two races in the ELMC went better than she expected.
Her third didn't go as well, as she was caught in the first-lap incident triggered by Vittorio Amati spinning polesitter Callum Morgan.
"Cet imbécile italien ne devrait pas être sur la piste," a frustrated Allain said. "Que pensait-il? Il est chargé de prendre un certain nombre de bonnes voitures, y compris la nôtre! C'est frustrant!"
Allain salvaged a 15th-place run after the incident, and currently runs fourth in the overall standings.
OOC: For the benefit of those who don't speak French, I'm including the original English text as it appeared before I ran it through Google Translate.
("That Italian fool shouldn't be on the track. What was he thinking? He's responsible for taking out a number of good cars, including ours! It's frustrating!")

"Aguentei a p**** toda!" - screamed a really relieved Mauro Vilar, as he got an career best 7th place - "Nós conseguimos avançar pedaço por pedaço e terminar a corrida de uma forma boa" - Vilar now sits 11th in the standings.
(Translation time: "I've endured all that c***!" - "We advanced bit by bit and finish the race in a good way"
"Ho sopportato, ero in grado di segnare tanto quanto volevamo, ma abbiamo bisogno di avere il massimo dei punti possibili per vincere a Rockingham e Croft." - explained a really sad D'Ambrosio, as she worked from the 11th position to finish 8th, just behind her teammate.
(Translation Time: "I've endured, but I wasn't able to score points as much as we wanted to, but we need to have the maximum possible points in order to win at Rockingham and Croft.")

Re: EuroV8 Cup
Currently have not much time so I post a write up for race 1 and 2, I will try to get a video finished for race 3.
- Race 1:
- Christian McMillan would take his 3rd consecutive pole position for the first race in Rockingham while Dyastar Autosport driver Rene Bisson continued to luck-out as his car cut a tyre coming to the green flag forcing him to retire before even the start of the race.
McMillan pulled out an early lead as the green flag fell with Gerald Pierre and Filipa D'Ambrosio following through on the inside past Mattais Schleir. Schleir thought hard to re-catch and pass the Canadian and Italian and soon was closing in on even Christian McMillan. A yellow flag came out at around mid distance, bunching the field back up.
Schleir stayed firmly attached to the rear of Christian McMillan on the restart but struggled to find a way through, instead remaining in formation behind the American. Marianna Palazzo in second in the championship sat a long way down the order and was at one point sitting in last place but managed to fight her way back into 12th by the end. McMillan was able to hold off Schleir for the entire distance and secured his 4th consecutive victory in front of a mostly pleased Mattais Schleir.
- Race 2:
- McMillan would start on pole once again and stormed out to a large lead over Mattais Schleir. A fairly bunched up first lap saw Viktoria Draachreider turned around heading into turn 3 on the opening lap causing large engine damage. For the remainder of the race she failed to stay anywhere near the pace.
After the restart the cars fell into formation until McMillan slowed coming out of the last turn and stopped on the front straight after 19 laps. Having slowed down for traffic it appeared the American had stalled the engine and would fall a lap down.
This gave Mattais Schleir a huge chance yet with 6 laps remaining he would throw it away when his car would slide up high and allow both Pim Koendyke and Mauro Vilar past him, with Vilar taking the lead. Schleir would find his way past Koendyke however every attempt to make his way up into the lead was unsuccessful and Vilar would go on to take the victory in the closest race of the season.

Re: EuroV8 Cup
- Spoiler:
- McMillan, Mertin, and Perreault Dominate Race 3 @ Rockingham, McMillan Victorious Again
The third and final round of the European Late Model Challenge's second weekend saw Christian McMillan take his fifth victory of the season. While McMillan took the win, he had to work his way up from a 10th-place starting position to do so, leading only the final 10 laps of the race.
However, McMillan never made the pass for the lead, as American Christopher Mertin experienced an engine failure while leading the race under caution with 10 laps to go.
Mertin is one of the few Americans competing in the ELMC. Born and raised in to German parents in Danville, Virginia, Mertin has recently moved to Germany to compete in touring cars, in addition to his part-time ELMC efforts. He previously had minimal experience on some of the larger oval speedways of the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. Mertin was coming off of two top 10 finishes in his first two starts earlier in the weekend, and had been the only driver other than McMillan in race 3 to challenge Jean-Marc Perreault for the top spot.
Perreault, a native of Lausanne, Switzerland, had a surprisingly successful weekend despite dropping out of race 2. The former open-wheel racer has adapted to the heavy stock cars at the large oval that is Rockingham rather quickly. Perreault would take the lead on the fifth lap, and was challenged only by Mertin until McMillan managed to finally make his way to the front. Perreault now ranks 5th in the overall points standings.
- Spoiler:
- Palazzo Out of Race 3 after Lap 1 Accident
After impressing many with three podium finishes at Warneton, Marianna Palazzo experienced a difficult weekend in the European Late Model Challenge.
Palazzo, who entered the championship second in the points, started 16th in each of the first two races. While she was able to improve her position in both races, she would not crack the top 10.
Her chances of ending the weekend on a good note, unfortunately, ended on the first lap of race 3, when the #42 Lenard was swept up in a crash that was triggered by contact between Mattais Schleir and Callum Morgan. The incident resulted in her first DNF of the season.
"I am very upset we were in a crash" said Palazzo after the race. "I hoped I can get a good finish today, but I had nowhere to go. It is not fun to go out of a race on lap 1."
The ELMC will return to the Rockingham Speedway for the next three rounds of the series in two weeks. Palazzo is hoping to use what she has learned from today's races to help her perform better when that time comes.

OOC: I'll be unable to make the Rockingham video for a couple of weekends due to commitments reducing available time.
European Late Model Challenge set to become Euro V8 Cup for 2015
The ELMC is expected to undertake a number of changes for 2015 to improve the profile of the championship. Following a successful start to it's inaugural year with high numbers in attendance for the opening two rounds of the season, the ELMC is expected to make a range of changes to improve the prestige of the series.
Expected for 2015 is the move away from late models which are perceived as a low level series of motorsport, instead the championship is thought to drop the late model title from it's name instead renaming to the Euro V8 Cup. Despite the move away from late model racing ELMC boss Antoine Lapierre has confirmed that Warneton will remain on the calendar for 2015 although other oval circuits including Rockingham and Lausitz could be removed to make way for more road course races.
It's also known that the ELMC are considering options to replace the current late model chassis used with early images released of a possible body. The images show a touring car styled FIAM Cinque with current NRC driver David Savoldelli at the wheel. The ELMC have confirmed that they expect to use the car for next year should they receive additional manufacture support alongside FIAM. Currently, only the Italian manufacturer has committed to producing cars for 2015 season and the ELMC have confirmed that they will revert to continued use of the late model chassis should they fail to secure at least one additional manufacturer for 2015.

Re: EuroV8 Cup
New Manufacturer desiring to join Euro V8 Cup.
After the announcement that a touring car body could be used in the Euro V8 Cup, the japanese compact car manufacturer Kanako announced its intentions to join the series with their flagship model, the Senshi (Warrior).
Kanako is a manufacturer that started in late 1940s after the WWII, where it used to produce engines for the Japanese Air Force. After the war, the manufacturer received money from various investors, mostly americans and canadians to produce their first car, the Senshi, which its still their major car in production. They also produced an successfull sedan, the Umi (sea) which is projected to join the series if its keep their late model bodies.
This will be Kanako's first incursion in racing since the ill-fated Kanako Formula A team, that folded after poor performances in the late 90's and early 2000's
Images of the two cars weren't released at the present time.

Re: EuroV8 Cup
Euro V8 Cup will use new "touring car style" models
The ELMC officials have confirmed that the current late model chassis' used at present will be replaced with brand new touring car style models.
The series, to be renamed the Euro V8 Cup in 2015, has announced that a maximum of 4 manufacturers will be accepted for 2015 with each manufacturer to compete with a maximum of 8 cars each allotting to a total grid of 32 full time cars plus part time cars.
FIAM have already been confirmed as an official manufacturer for 2015 and have also announced a 4 car works team expected to run current FIAM backed drivers Franco Giovanardi and Gianni Corelli with current ELMC drivers Vittorio Amati, Marianna Palazzo, Mireille Allain and Jean-Marc Perreault all being rumoured to the other two seats. Italian Touring Car team Scuderia Modena have also been linked to run two other FIAM CinqueTC's with ex-FIAM backed driver Julienne Dann officially signed to drive for them.
Japanese compact car manufacturer Kanako have also officially announced their intentions to take part in the Euro V8 Cup with their Senshi model. Several other manufacturers are seemingly also interested in entering the championship, although are yet to make an initial announcement.

Re: EuroV8 Cup
Likely I will have a video for Round 3 tomorrow, although no audio commentary.
Early planning for 2015 Euro V8 Cup
While 2014 is very much in it's early stages the vast amount of changes set for the newly revised Euro V8 Cup has required officials to begin early planning of the 2015 season which is set to propel the series into a serious continental championship with manufacturers arriving in their masses.
Most predominant in the early announcements are the introduction of two additional championships alongside the current drivers championship. One for the most successful manufacturer and the other for the best amateur or 'gentleman' driver. With 2 manufacturers confirmed and with at least one more expected to arrive in the coming weeks officials have put an emphasis on manufacturers for this season with a fully developed trophy to be awarded for the company who strings together the best results throughout the season. Meanwhile the "Gentlemen Trophy" is to be awarded to the best gentleman driver-a driver with limited prior experience competing generally as a privateer.
Additional efforts have also been made to continue to keep the budgets of the championship to a minimum with a single engine to be used across each manufacture and a system is to be organised in order to balance the performance of each car to avoid a richer manufacture over developing their cars.
An early provisional calendar has also been announced with oval racing cut down to just three rounds, two of which are at the Warneton Speedway in Belgium and the other at Rockingham in the UK, while the inclusion of several high profile circuits including two current Grand Prix circuits at Spa and the Nurburgring are also noteworthy. While the calendar still remains primarily in more Western European countries such as the UK, Belgium and France which all have multiple rounds, a long haul round to the ADM Raceway in Moscow which has previously hosted the ARLA Elite Series is under consideration.
1. Warneton Speedway (Warneton, Belgium)
2. Rockingham Motor Speedway (Northamptonshire, UK)
3. Donington Park (Leicestershire, UK)
4. Circuit Paul Armagnac (Nogaro, France)
5. Circuit Nevers Magny-Cours (Magny-Cours, France)
6. Circuit Park Zandvoort (Zandvoort, Netherlands)
7. Brands Hatch Indy (Kent, UK)
8. Autodromo di Franciacorta (Brescia, Italy)
9. Circuito del Jarama (Madrid, Spain)
10. Circuito de Albacete (Albacete, Spain)
11. ADM Raceway (Moscow, Russia)
12. Nurburgring (Nurburg, Germany)
13. Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (Stavelot, Belgium)
14. Warneton Speedway (Warneton, Belgium)

Re: EuroV8 Cup
Kris Wascher set to join V8 Eurocup with team Yooper Motorsports.
Wascher is looking for a ride that could propel him into TM Lights, and he thinks it's the place to start.
"I hope to run good here. It's going to be in Europe, so it will be a different experience"
