2014 Daytona 500
It's nearly time for the 56th running of the Daytona 500, the beginning of the 2014 Sprint Cup season. Last year, Jimmie Johnson won his second 500 en route to sweeping the Daytona cup races and winning his 6th championship. Opening practice doesn't begin until Sunday at 12:30, but the entry list has been released. 49 cars are entered, up from 45 last year.

i love how people say it's rigged, cry me a river . Last time i checked, 5 of the 6 fastest cars in practice were RCR/RCR equipment = truex. So stop grabbing for attention
Good for Dilllon, though!

BIG WRECK IN PRACTICE
Kligerman gets flipped after Kenseth gets into Logano, which sends the 22 into Menard, and Kligerman got lifted by 27, and Catch fenced, Blaney also involved
77 likely not racing due to only car, 26/30 may not race depending of their back up cars, 26 is fixale but 30 is done.... That's just like 15 minutes into practice & may end the practice drafting for NASCAR

Kenseth vs Logano games has wiped out 5 more cars and have probably ended at least 2-3 teams hopes of making the 500.

As an apology, Joe Gibbs should loan the 77 and 30 a car for the 500 for Matt Kenesth's apparent stupidity in practice. I thought he was better than that. Why the hell would you dip down into one line, then back up another like that, in practice no less?!?

I don't care if it were to go into the Duels as a Foryota, I think that was a stupid move by Kenesth that just ruined one team's week, and should be repaid.

What a shame, all of those off season efforts made only to to go home before the Duels. Hopefully this won't hurt them at all in terms of sponsorship or anything like that.Alta wrote:Dave Blaney and the #77 team has withdrawn and are heading home after today's wreck.
And to think this is the second time in a week that Kenseth has caused a big wreck by coming across Logano to follow a teammate? It's rather strange to see Matt do something like that once, much less twice.

They only had one back-up, which was the 26 but will now become the 30. The team will repair the 26. Luckily for them, this year the Duels are at night.Rykia_RKXK wrote:Lucstar88 wrote:BIG WRECK IN PRACTICE

Cole Whitt, and Alex Bowman, qualify for the race due to finishing in the top 15!!!

Re: 2014 Daytona 500
Good first duel. I don't know what they've done with the aero package, but it's a massive improvement over last year. Actually looking forward to seeing how the 500 turns out.
Don't really know if it was smart of Kenseth to do victory burnouts for a Duel win, but whatever. It'll be his own fault if the engine blows during the 500.

The second duel ends with Jimmie running out of fuel in front of the pack and all hell breaking loose behind him. Clint Bowyer with the 10/10 flip and landing on all fours. Nothing more than a bad deal.

The races were pretty good, sucks that Kes blew a tire and sped on pit road.
Clint Bowyer decided to show why he should be in the Air Force Thunderbirds.
I think this is the first time I've seen a onboard of a blowover.

Awesome 1st Duel. Summed up everything about trying to get in the 500 and has a nice finish
2nd duel kind of paled into comparision to the first. Sombody call IOC and send Clint Bowyer a gold medal, That was gymnastics at it's finest.
Gibbs is looking strong into the 500.
Also we Bizarro Speedweeks now!

Missed out on duel 1 cause I went out with family and friends for my sister's birthday, but the finish looked awesome. Duel 2 wasn't as dicey as I expected, but it's only a duel and I enjoyed it, so I'm satisfied.
Also, seven of the eight rookies made the race and Josh Wise in the PPR car will start eleventh or ninth, depending on the lane Dillon chooses. Remember that PPR finished ninth in the 500 last year with McDowell.

Duel 1 was fun to watch, even though I missed the first 20 laps due to being at work. Duel 2 made me want to call it an early night. I may as well have done that, because I'll be seeing replays of that Bowyer flip for the next decade in highlight reels.
