166 cars are on the preliminary entry list, which I believe is an EFR record. 2012 Cleveland Grand Prix Qualifying Procedure 215644238

Pole Qualifying

Four 60-minute sessions will be run, after which the top-10 fastest times will be pulled and set on the grid.

Qualifiers

Cars will be broken up into 4 groups, based on where they ended up time-wise in pole qualifying.  These groups will be known as Tier 1 through 4, with Tier 1 featuring the fastest cars and Tier 4 featuring the slowest cars.  From these 25-lap qualifiers, the top 7 from the Tier 1 and Tier 2 will be set on the grid, and the top 8 from Tier 3 and Tier 4 will be set on the grid.

This will leave 40 cars set on the grid.

Nicol Bolas

Nicol Bolas won the SCRA Sunshine State 500, and thus has been granted a spot on the grid (41st).

Promoter's Option

The final spot on the grid will go to the car that I feel should go into the field the most.  This may be due to the hilarity of the entry itself, or based on its performance in Pole Qualifying or the Qualifiers if the car came very close to making it but fell just short in both cases.

Best of luck to you all; pole qualifying will commence later today.
