- DeGarmo-Delgado Enterprises Shut Out in Maiden Race, Delgado Looks at Positives
Despite failing to score any points tonight in the Round of California, DeGarmo-Delgado Enterprises co-owner Tom Delgado came away pleased with the performances of rookies Tom Moore & Brandon Lareau.
"There were some encouraging signs of performance out there for us" Delgado said after the race. "We practiced & qualified poorly, giving us a mountain to climb towards the points, and it looked like we might get it with Tom (Moore). Even though it wasn't meant to be tonight, I came away encouraged with what I saw. Tom & Brandon showed good poise when lapped, but I would have liked to see a little more awareness as far as wreck avoidance. Plenty of racing left to do this season though, I'll always back my boys to bounce back." Delgado added before heading into the DDE trailer.

The pronunciation of Clévenot seemed wrong to me, it's your series and character though

Cynon contacted resident francophone freakshow in TommyKL to get a proper pronunciation on Clévenot. So that's about as good of one as we're going to get.
Edit: The é is usually pronounced more like A compared to an E. One of few things I retained from being forced to take French class.

Matthews thrilled with team's effort; Top 10 run:
2013's Round of California was nothing to write home about for Ryan Matthews.
This season's edition, however, was much more satisfying.
Matthews, beginning his second Independent's Trophy run, came home ninth in the Round of California. It was his first Top 10 since the 2012 Round of Ohio.
"Damn, it feels good to be able to run like that again," he said. "We had a decent car all weekend, though to be honest I'd have liked to have qualified better. But this Aspira is really good in race trim, and I think we're going to be a force to be reckoned with."
Matthews' next Independent's Trophy race will be at the Carbondale Raceway.

Victory Escapes Plissken (Narrowly) @ California
Victory has once again eluded Kurt Plissken-- but just barely this time-- and by the slimmest of of margins. Adrien Devereux of Hodges-Walter Racing drove his #7 Calton-Morel Altair to victory at the Round of California instead. And for the third year in a row the defending series champion Devereux captured season opener but he was denied his third consecutive Perfect 70 score.
In what could be considered a mild surprise, Plissken started on the outside of row 6 while Devereux narrowly missed the pole by snagging the outside of row 1. But the race was not without it's share of drama. In the closing laps Devereux charged to the lead and Plissken who had hung around the top 10 all day had worked his way up into second. That's when the pair began rapidly approaching the #180 Velocity Motorsports car of Carlos Donzelo. Donzelo forced Devereux out of his preferred driving line and that allowed Plissken get a run on Devereux. Both cars successfully navigated their way around Donzelo with Devereux maintaining his slight advantage.
"I could have either wrecked us both or finished second," Plissken stated. "I chose the latter."
"We had a good car today" Plissken continued. "We were able to power past some cars-- at times without any help from the draft. I think our Lycoia Interceptor will be good at all track configurations and surfaces this year. It's the best car we've had at PSI."
This was Plissken's best ever start to a season since he finished 3rd @ Vegas in the 2011 opener and, in a strange quirk of fate, Plissken was also driving a Yoo-hoo sponsored car back then as well!
