So, I'm taking a page out of Packer's book and doing my own fan punditry radio show thread.  This will focus on any FARC stories including post race coverage and reviews.  Will focus also mainly on the Elite Series, but will make mention of the lower tier series as well.  I'll be using my former ARLA News Now character as well.

If you would like have your driver or team owner (they MUST be involved in a FARC series) as a featured guest, PM me.  I will try to get 2 featured guests per show.

I will also have a fan call in segment.  If you would like to be a fan call also PM me.  Will limit these to 4 per show and I will be more tempted to accepted those that on the topic I presented for that show.

All of this will be posted here.  Just the other text "news shows" on here.

SHOW #1: THE ROOKIE SHOOTOUT/SMASH BEER 500 QUALIFYING (OCC: Show titles will reference the timeline in which that show takes place.)

(Cue Intro Music)

Hello, FARC fans, and welcome to FARC Talk Now (FTN) on the Satellite Radio Network (SRN) and presented by Smash Beer and Spitfire Spark Plugs.

I'm Pete Robinson, formerly of ARLA News Now.  This is my first show so let's get to it.

===

FIRST TAKE/OPENING RANT:

Safety is always a concern in whatever line of work someone is in.  In professional sports, the emphasis on safety is greater than in any other occupation because of the amount of exposure and media coverage involved.  With motorsports, safety is a major if not the primary concern.  This year FARC opens a new page with the debut of a new car.  This comes on the heels of a series of major accidents over the last couple of years that saw the death of Scott Morales and serious injuries to a couple of other drivers.

Let me be honest here.  FARC needed this change.  It allows the series which also saw a name change over the winter to "hit the reset button".  The car allows for a bit bigger driver's compartment.  If testing is any indication, this car looks racy, and I'm very optimistic that this car is going to provide some great racing for the upcoming year.

===

TOP STORIES

1. THE ROOKIE SHOOTOUT-

The traditional annual event for FARC marked a new chapter this year.  Taking place at the Texas World Speedway, the 23 drivers eligible for Rookie of the Year for 2014 were ready to race.  The big issue going into the event was lack of speed and experience of the front row starters, Caden Beckett and Ryan Barrett.  However, this proved to pass as Beckett and Barrett were chewed up and spit right out of the pack.

Spannerhead Racing's, Kerry Ian took command early and appeared to be in a league of his own.  But, an issue toward the end of the race gave the lead and win to reigning FARC Lobo Truck Series champion, Tammy Barnton.  The win gives Barnton 25 bonus points as well as a guaranteed starting spot in the Smash Beer 500.

I have to give Barnton credit for getting the win, but she still has a lot to learn.  This was evident when she nearly caused a mid race collision between two cars that were racing for position but were a lap down at the time.  Though Barnton had the race in hand at the point, there was no reason for her to be in the way and race them as she did.  Barnton does have a title until her belt and if the Rookie Shootout is any indication she just maybe as big a success in the Elite Series as she was in Trucks.

2. SMASH BEER 500 QUALIFYING-

The next item on the schedule for the Elite Series at Texas World was qualifying for the Smash Beer 500.  An unprecedented 153 cars took to the track through 4 sessions to determine the front row for the 500 as well as the starting grids for the qualifying races.  In the end, it was M&J Racing's Taylor Brillon who took the pole with Tom Delgado Racing's Frank Azure on the outside of the front row.  Brillion, Azure, and Rookie Shootout winner, Tammy Barnton, are the only drivers who are locked into the 500.  The rest of the field will be determined by qualifying races: 2 E-Mains in which the top 10 transfers to the D-Mains; 2 D-Mains in which the top 16 transfer to C-Mains; 2 C-Mains in which the top 16 transfer to B-Mains; and 2 B-Mains in which top 20 transfer to 500.

If the Rookie Shootout is any indication, these qualifying races are going to be nail-biting and end of your seat.  The speed fall off between the teams will be concern and the big story I believe from this.

===

That does it for the first part of the show.  Coming up I'll talk with our featured guest and get their take on the recent racing activities and then I open the phone lines to you fans.  You're listening to FTN on SRN.

FTN (FARC Talk Now) (The Official FARC Radio Show) Empty Re: FTN (FARC Talk Now) (The Official FARC Radio Show)

(SHOW #1 (PART 2/3))

Welcome back to FARC Talk Now (FTN) on the Satellite Radio Network (SRN) and presented by Smash Beer and Spitfire Spark Plugs.  All special guests appear via the Delano Refreshment Hot Line.

Before I get started, I need to make a minor correction.  During the recap of the pole qualifying for the 500, I stated that TDR's Frank Azure was on the outside of the front row.  That was inaccurate as it was Tom Delgado himself who qualified p2.  So apologizes to Mr. Delgado.

Alright, FARC fans, it's spoiler alert time.  The qualifying races for the Smash Beer 500 have been run and the starting grid set.  But, not before a few scary accidents marred both final qualifying events or B-mains.  Ok, first of all, what in hell was Kurt Plissken thinking?!   Plissken, who currently drives for Power Steering Inc. in the TM Master Cup Series, hooked the #64 of Leslie Riggs and triggered a massive accident that saw the #8 of Lucas Sweeney take a violent series of barrel rolls.  TM Master Cup Series driver, Ben Atkins, and rookie Dylan Andrew also suffered hard hits as well.

I'm sorry.  I don't care if you are a full-time regular driver in an internationally recognized racing series like the TMMCS.  That doesn't give you the excuse to end a lower tier series and drive through everyone on track.  You would expect a driver like Plissken to know better, but I guess not.

In all honest, Plissken should be suspended from competing in the series and be forced to forfeit his spot.  This is a good opportunity for FARC officials to do the right thing, but we shall see.

===

Well, let's get to a happy note.  Our first guest is on the phone line, and he is going to be a little amp more than likely considering that he is going to start the Smash Beer 500.

Pete: Joining us via the Delano Refreshment Hot Line, driver of the #79 Ike Durbin Inc. Inglesby, Tanner Clason.  Tanner, first of all, thanks for taking the time to talk to us.  Describe for the fans at home just how nail biting it is to have to race your way into an event like the Smash Beer 500 without having a fall back if something happens.

Tanner: Thank you for having me on. Well, to answer that question, it's definitely the most nerve-racking thing you'll do in a racing career. Especially starting from the E-Mains and having to survive 4 different races. I thought when I wrecked in the B-Main, It was over to be honest. Thankfully, I managed to get through by the skin of my teeth.

P: Tanner, last year, you competed in the Tornado Alley Trophy in the Elite Series.  This year, you are joining a new team in Ike Durbin Inc. and competing as a rookie of the year candidate in your 1st full season for the team.  What has been the biggest adjustment for you moving from running your own team to driving for someone else?

T: The biggest adjustment for me has been the fact that I don't have as much control as I would as an owner/driver. It's hard to get used to, but I'm sure it'll come to me eventually.

P: A lot of concern has been raised this week with the amount of drivers with limited experience attempting the Elite Series schedule this year.  These concerns seem to have grown after what we saw in the qualifying races.  You've been on the track and raced around these drivers.  Do you find yourself driving any different around them or do you just approach them like anyone else on the track?

T: Well, I definitely saw some amateur driving from a lot of people in the Q-Races. As for how I handle running against the drivers who have less experience, I treat them like anyone else. You have to get knocked around to learn the ropes of Racing. That's how it was for me last year, and that's how I'm going to treat people in the future.

P: There has been a lot of talk about the change to the new car going into this year.  You now have run in two events with this new car.  What has been the biggest change with the car to adjust to?

T: This new car is hella fun to drive, but it's bigger and a bit heavier than the last car. You can't throw it around as much as you could the late models. It takes a more tactical driving style to win with the new cars. You learn to drive these as time goes on, there's definitely a learning curve to start with. It's all about car control. You gotta have the strength to man-handle a car this size.

P: One more question here Tanner, your car owner, Ike Durbin, is a driver himself.  How has the fact that you both have racing experience translated into helping you in moving to this team?

T: Yeah. Ike{Durbin}'s a cool guy. The fact that he's an owner-driver, combined with myself being in that role last year equates to an easier time strategizing and exchanging notes from practices to get a good setup for the race itself. We both know how these cars run, we both know the perils of owning a team, he's definitely been a huge help getting me settled in for this upcoming season.

P: Well, thank you for joining us Tanner, and good luck in the 500.

T: Thank you very much. Hopefully we can get Coletta Software and Grandmaster Dragon a good showing.

===

Ok, coming up on FTN, I open the phone lines to the fans and get their take on two topics the controversy in the Q-races and the common practice of ride buying.  I will also give you my drivers to watch in the 500.  You're listening to FARC Talk Now on SRN.

(OCC: If you want to be a "fan call", just leave a brief message to me on here.  I'm going to use the first 5 responses I get to the two topics I listed the Q-race controversy and the idea of ride buying.)

FTN (FARC Talk Now) (The Official FARC Radio Show) Empty Re: FTN (FARC Talk Now) (The Official FARC Radio Show)

Post by day500champ1 Tue Apr 01, 2014 8:53 pm

[SHOW #1 (PART 3/3)]

We are back here on FTN.  Well, I teased it before the break, so I'm going to jump right in.  The big topic that has arisen with the qualifying races completed is the common practice of ride-buying.  This is a practice that has gone on since the beginning of these big events such as the Smash Beer 500.  But, before I give my thoughts on this practice, I'm going to open the phone lines to our listeners and get their takes.

===

FAN CHATTER

Ok, our 1st caller, Steve from Arlington, Texas, your on FTN.

Yeah, Pete, I'm a longtime fan of yours from the ANN days.  But, I don't have a problem with ride-buying.  If a team wants to trade out their drivers, it's their right to do so.  The owner can do what he wants with his cars and his drivers.  And I want to add that I with you on the whole Kurt Plissken thing.  The guy is a weapon and the fact that FARC is letting him run the event makes me question the officials judgment.

Well thank you for the call, Steve.  You bring up a good point.  A lot of teams in FARC tend to run multiple entries, and thus as Steve said the team owner does have the ability to change up his driver lineup at anytime.  But, I think we have a driver that has an opposing view point.  Neil from Portland, Oregon.  You're on FTN.

Yeah, Pete, I absolutely hate ride-buying.  To me, it's a free get out of jail free card.  It rewards drivers who weren't good enough to make the field with a free pass into the show.  I've been fan of FARC/ARLA for over 15 years and this honestly is the one thing about the series that drives me nuts.

Wow, Neil, tell us how you really feel. (laughs) But, I think you made your point.

===

PERFORMANCE PICKS

Ok, this is a carry over segment from my old show.  These are the top 5 drivers I think you need to watch in the Smash Beer 500.

#1: TAMMY BARNTON:

I think this one goes without saying.  Barnton won the only FARC Elite Series race that has been run this year, that being the Rookie Shootout.  So, she has the momentum going into the 500.  As I stated in the recap of the Shootout, Barnton has the experience of winning last year's truck title.  She knows how to win and could easily in the 500.

#2: ANDREA KINASA:

Kinasa proved last year that she can be a challenger week in and week out for race victories.  A strong showing in the qualifying races gives me the impression that she will be able to do the same thing again this year.

#3: BRENDA RIGGS:

How can you talk about drivers to watch in a FARC race and not mention a Riggs?  The elder Riggs proved in her qualifying race that she can still get the job done.  I will not be at all surprised if she ends up as the one in victory lane at the end of the 500.

#4: JOSEPH HOWARD:

This pick is a little addition.  With TDR owner, Tom Delgado, stating that he is giving his spot up for Howard, who was involved in one of the big crashes, the defending FARC Elite Series champion can not be overlooked.

#5 JOE OLENICK:

Ok, this has to be my underdog pick out of the picks.  Olenick has proven not only that he can be successful in FARC but in other series as well.  He could be the surprised of the 500 just like he was in making the field.

===

FINAL TAKE

Honestly, I think ride-buying is a practice that going to remain a part of the series for a long time.  Whether you agree with it or embrace it, ride-buying is the name of the game now and it is something you must do if you want to succeed in FARC today.

As for the Smash Beer 500, if the qualifying races are any indication, the 500 is going to be exciting, wild, and unpredictable.  I know I'm going to be glued to my screen.

===

Well, that does it for this edition of FTN, join me next week when I will bring on the Smash Beer 500 winner.  You're listening to FTN on SRN.

FTN (FARC Talk Now) (The Official FARC Radio Show) Empty Re: FTN (FARC Talk Now) (The Official FARC Radio Show)

SHOW #2: SMASH BEER 500/TRUCK TOUR RACE #1

(Intro Music {Refer to Show #1})

Hello, FARC fans, and welcome to FARC Talk Now (FTN) on the Satellite Radio Network (SRN) and presented by Smash Beer and Spitfire Spark Plugs.

I'm Pete Robinson.  All of our guests appear via the Delano Refreshment Hot Line.  Let's get to it.

===

FIRST TAKE/OPENING RANT

I heard something over the weekend that was honestly the most asinine thing I think I've ever heard.  While talking with some of the media members outside TWS, we overheard a couple of fans making sexists comments about Rookie Shootout winner Tammy Barnton.  Honestly, I can't believe that I even overheard it.  In today's world, the majority of intelligent literate people know that talent doesn't know things like race, sex, religious belief, etc.

So, why is it that we still have people that want to diminish someone's abilities based on one of those things?  The good thing is these people usual end up getting left behind and ignored.  But enough of that let's get to the hot topics.

===

TOP STORIES

1.BARNTON 2.0

The Smash Beer 500 was a race of mechanical issues and attrition.  In the end, it was the defending FARC Truck champion and currently Rookie of the Year candidate, Tammy Barnton scoring the win.  Barnton becomes the 2nd driver in 2 years to win the Rookie Shootout followed by the opening race of the year.  Last year, Jim Hayes, won the Rookie Shootout and the opening race of the year.  He went on to win Rookie of the Year as well.

Does this mean that Barnton is in the best candidate to win Rookie of the Year?  I'd say she has made a good early statement.

2.EDWARDS DOMINATES IN TRUCKS

This weekend also marked the opening race of the FARC Lobo Truck Tour.  And let's just say that the Truck race was a good preview of what was to come in the 500 as crashes left just two trucks to complete in the race ending Green, White, Checked.  Dan Edwards survived the G-W-C to claim victory in the season opener.

===

That does it for the first hour of FTN.  Coming up, Smash Beer 500 winner, Tammy Barnton, will join me.  I'll also get into a discussion about the practice of double-duty driving.

You're watching FTN on SRN.

FTN (FARC Talk Now) (The Official FARC Radio Show) Empty Re: FTN (FARC Talk Now) (The Official FARC Radio Show)

Post by day500champ1 Sat Apr 19, 2014 10:31 pm

(SHOW #2 PART (2/3))

Welcome back to FARC Talk Now (FTN) on the Satellite Radio Network (SRN) and presented by Smash Beer and Spitfire Spark Plugs.  All special guests appear via the Delano Refreshment Hot Line.

Look I want to clarify a little about what i was going on about in the last segment.  I'm ok with someone receiving criticism for underperforming or not living up to their abilities.  But, to criticize someone just based on something they can not change is completely and utterly asinine.  Tammy Barnton is easily the class of the field right now.  You don't win back-to-back races by accident.

She drove grade A equipment they way it was meant to and earn a deserved victory for it.  So to the bigot that I overheard after the Rookie Shootout, congradulations!  You singlehandedly destroyed your reputation.

===

Well, speaking of Ms. Barnton, our first guest is none other then the Smash Beer 500 winner herself.

Pete: So, joining me now on the Delano Refreshment Hot Line, Tammy Barnton. Tammy, thanks for joining me and let me be the first to say congratulations.

Tammy: Thank you for having me, and thanks for the congratulations!

P: Tammy, you come into this season, your rookie season, having already won a championship in one of FARC's lower tier series. How much does your experience in the Truck Series help you going into this season?

Tammy: A lot. A couple of the guys that were in the series last year had already had some Elite Series experience, so they helped me a lot coming up. It was a stepping stone, really. I can't say I ever expected to do as well as I did.

P: HQS Racing, the team you are racing for, is owned by TMMCS driver and Dash Cup Champion, Ben Atkins, how much of a help has he been in preparing you for this season?

Tammy: He kinda doubts himself sometimes, but he's been a huge help. He's a great person to be around as well. You can talk to him about anything, and he'll be the first to congratulate you if you win or do well. He's a great team owner.

P: Tammy, you have joined an exclusive list of drivers, winning the Rookie Shootout and the opening race of the season this year. I know that this may not be that hard a question for you, but of both wins which one means more to you personally?

Tammy: It's gotta be the Smash Beer 500. I bet you never seen that coming, haha! But seriously, getting out of the car after so many hours and knowing it was all worth it... It was an amazing feeling. Again, I never expected immediate success!

P: Your cousin, Lucy, nearly won the Truck title the year before you won yours. She also ran in the FARC Elite Series last year. How much of a help has she been in your racing career?

Tammy: She's been the my main inspiration. Hell, she got me into racing! Seeing her as a teenager do the big go-kart races at Carson City when I was just a little girl inspired me. I wanted to be like my big cousin, and in some ways, I still do to this day.

P: Ok, one more question, Tammy. Many drivers have stories about weird autograph requests. What is the strangest thing you've ever had a fan ask you to sign?

Tammy: At a dirt track last week, I was doing an appearance, and a guy asked me to sign his baby daughter's forehead. I refused, but he settled for me signing HIS forehead.

P: Thank you Tammy and good luck on the rest of your season.

Tammy: Again, thank you for having me!

===

Coming on on the last hour of FTN: I get into a discussion with a few fans about double-duty and what it has done for the Elite Series and Truck Series.  I'll also give my drivers to watch in Lakeland for Round 2 of the Elite Series season.

You're listening to FTN on SRN.

FTN (FARC Talk Now) (The Official FARC Radio Show) Empty Re: FTN (FARC Talk Now) (The Official FARC Radio Show)

Post by day500champ1 Mon Apr 21, 2014 8:18 pm

(SHOW #2 (PART 3/3))

Welcome back to FARC Talk Now (FTN) on the Satellite Radio Network (SRN) and presented by Smash Beer and Spitfire Spark Plugs.  All special guests appear via the Delano Refreshment Hot Line.

Throughout the history of the FARC Elite Series, there is one practice that is all but commonplace.  That being the concept of "double duty" or running more than series in a given year.  It's a practice that has been at the center of controversy in more than one auto racing series in recent years.

Double Duty in the FARC Elite Series used to mean running the FARC Elite Series and TM Lights Series in the same season.  This is still the most common double duty that Elite Series drivers partake in.  However, with the ever growing popularity of both European based Dash Cup Series and the open wheel series Formula Overdrive, double duty has come to encompass more than just the standard Elite Series/TM Lights Series double.

Recent rule changes in FARC have seen the full-time double duty drivers and entries erased, but that has not reduced the number of part-time entries that attempt to run more than one series.

I want to take a couple of calls from the fans before I give my thoughts on this.

===

FAN CHATTER

Let's go to Steve from Lancaster, PA.  Steve, you're on FTN.

Thanks Pete, longtime fan of yours.  Ok, I honestly don't like drivers who do any sort of double duty.  I say if you are going to run a particular series you need to stick to that series and that series alone.  Not only are you going to improve your skill in that series, you don't have to worry about learning how to run a different car.

Interesting point, Steve.  Let's go to Shelly from Elk Lake, Wisconsin.  Shelly, you're on FTN.

Hi, Pete.  Look I say if driver wants to run in multiple series, I don't have a problem with it.  A racecar driver just wants to race no matter what series or what form of racing.  Why should we tell a driver they can't race?

Hmm, also a valid point.  Let's go to Carl from Rockford, IL.  Carl, you're on FTN.

Pete, I'm a racecar driver myself in a regional dirt track series.  I honestly don't have a problem if a driver wants to run more than one series, but I do have a problem with a driver in a higher tier series coming down and running in a lower tier series.  The lower ranks are meant for drivers like myself to improve our skill and try to impress the big time team owners not for some big time hot shot to beat up rookies.

Now that's honestly an opinion I agree with.  When it comes to double duty, what Carl stated is pretty much my thoughts on it.  A driver should be allowed to run in another series if he chooses, but not to the extent that they dominate said series and leave little opportunity for someone of lower skill set to improve.

===

PERFORMANCE PICKS

Ok, before I get to my top 5 picks for this week, I need to make a minor correction.  The upcoming Elite Series event is at Columbia Speedway.  The FARC Modifieds are in Lakeland this week.  So, let's get to my top 5 picks for Columbia.

#1 TAMMY BARNTON

Ok, I know this is an easy copout.  But, honestly, how can you not pick Barnton as one of the favorite going into Columbia?  She's 2-0 this season already, and the equipment at HSQ is superb at the point.  The only thing working against Barnton is the fact no one has ever been able to win the Rookie Shootout and the 1st 2 races of the regular season in the same season.

#2 RIP TYLER

Kind of surprising that I didn't have the 2012 Elite Series champion in my top 5 from last race.  But, Tyler hasn't finished in the top 2 in the season's final standings the last 2 years by luck.  This may be the race where Tyler makes his presence known.

#3 JIM HAYES

Last years, Elite Series Rookie of the Year, didn't exactly make a splash during the 500 weekend.  But, Hayes was able to win early last year, so I wouldn't be surprised if he does the same this year.

#4 JASON BATES

A crash during the 500 heat races isn't going to stop Pearson-Sweeney Motorsports flagship team from being a player this season.  Bates will be one to keep an eye on.

#5 ALEX WHITT

For my underdog this week, I'm going with Whitt.  Whitt made a splash last season driving a few races for Ike Durbin Inc.  This season though he finds himself a rookie running for a team owned by former Elite Series champion Bobby Porteau.  While they may not win a race this season, this team will be an underdog to watch not just this week, but all season long.

===

FINAL TAKE

Well, the Smash Beer 500 is over and the opening weekend of the Elite Series season is over.  The one thing that will be interesting to watch is if mechanical issues continue to plague the series as they seemed to have the last couple of years.  Time will tell though.

===

Well that does it for this edition of FTN.  Next week, we'll have a recap of the Columbia weekend, I will get a couple of the weekends winner to join me, and I will debate which team is the best Elite Series team.

You're listening to FTN on SRN.

SHOW #3 (PART 1/3): LOAN PROS 200/REGIONAL CUP EAST RACE #1

(Intro Music: Refer to Show #1)

Hello, FARC fans, and welcome to FARC Talk Now (FTN) on the Satellite Radio Network (SRN) and presented by Smash Beer and Spitfire Spark Plugs.

I'm Pete Robinson, and all of my guests appear via the Delano Refreshment Hotline.  This is the 3rd show of the year, so let's get to it.

===

FIRST TAKE/OPENING RANT

Jealously and Envy.  Basic human emotions that become more prevent when competition is the name of the game.  Success can make people do and say things out of jealously and/or envy.  For example, Joe Smith off the street can look at a Tom Brady or Michael Jordon {assuming that these individuals still exist in the TM/FARC timeline; considering this canon is only for motorsports} and nitpick about little things they do.  But, at the end of the day, they are the ones with the champions and their faces on Delano cans.

Successful people don't care what people say about them.  Jim Hayes is a driver to me who fits this mold.   Hayes early in his career as well during his time in the TM Lights Series was criticized for his driving late in races.  Hayes, didn't care.  Why? 'Cause he was winning races and continues to do so.

TOP STORIES

1. GOOD TO THE LAST DROP

The Elite Series made its 2nd stop of the 2014 season at the Columbia Speedway in South Carolina.  This race marked the first Elite Series weekend with the new 50/50 Sprints followed by the main event.  The top 20 finishers from both heat races would transfer to the 200 main event.  Isaac Lightener and Makoto Yamada took Sprint races 1 and 2 recording their first Elite Series victories.

Jim Hayes scored the pole for the 200 lap main event.  The main stories of the feature were attrition and fuel mileage.  With 3 laps to go, Megan Driver and Ryan Matthews emerged as the top contenders.  Coming to 2 to go, Driver's crew made the decision to bring her down pit road from the lead.  Matthews then took over the lead.  But for Matthews, it wasn't meant to be.  Coming to the white flag, Matthews was forced to give up the lead and the eventual victory to Driver when his fuel cell ran dry.

The victory is Driver's first in the Elite Series and is the 4th first time winner in 4 straight races for the Elite Series.

2. LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON

The Regional Cup Series finally aired their coverage of their East Series race from Texas World.  This race was awesome to see.  In the end, though, Matt Pearson, claimed victory after a 6-car GWC finish.  Pearson, who is the son of Elite Series legend Andy Pearson, was leading when the yellow came out to set up the GWC, but he had to pit for fuel under the yellow.  Restarting 4th, Pearson used his brother Kyle as a drafting partner to get the lead back and held off Charles Gilbert and Frank Azzaretto for the victory.

SHOW #3 (PART 2/3)

Welcome back to FTN on the SRN and presented by Smash Beer and Spitfire Spark Plugs. All special guests appear via the Delano Refreshment Hot Line.

I thought about this during the break. Right now in the Elite Series there have been 5 races with a points payoff. 3 have been won by female drivers and 2 by male drivers, granted Tammy Barnton two of those three. There is parody talk about manufacturers and race teams. But, I think a new parody has developed this season, gender. Hell of the 4 winners this year, we have a 50/50 split as far as gender goes. This could be something to watch later in the season.

FEATURED INTERVIEW

Well, enough of that, it's time for the featured guest.

Pete: Fresh off her maiden FARC Elite Series win, Megan Driver. Megan thanks for taking time to join me today.

Megan: Thanks for having me.

P: What was those last laps like from behind the wheel?

M: When I was called into the pit to do a splash and go, I got nervous because we didn't know how much fuel Ryan Matthews had, turned out he had to pit one lap later and I knew we had it in the bag then.

P: This season marks your 2nd season in the Elite Series. What do you think has been the biggest change that's helped you going into this year?

M: Well, I'm not a rookie and I'm taking things more slowly than I did last season. Mainly focusing on driving more cleanly.

P: Family is such a big part of motorsports. Your cousin, Greg Woodard, has been involved in just about everything. How much of an influence or help has he been in your racing career?

M: He's been a huge influence. I just wish he would toughen up and take whatever came his way better, he made himself look weak after what happened at Wales.

P: There was a little bit of controversy following your victory with your race team. Do you see this a problem moving forward?

M: Nah, I in fact wanted to stoke the fire some, but my crew chief advised me not too.

P: Let's get away from motorsports for a minute. A lot of drivers have hobbies they are involved in outside of motorsports. What are yours?

M: Um... school? That and spending time with my boyfriend, Logan.

P: Thank you for joining us today, Megan, and good luck the rest of the season.

M: You're welcome! Gotta get ready for the next race.

SHOW #3 (PART 3/3)

Welcome to FTN on the SRN. Featured guests appear the Delano Refreshment Hot Line.

PETE'S CALL OF THE RACE

I decided to do something different this week. Instead of the usual FAN CHATTER segment, I'm starting a new segment called CALL OF THE RACE. This is where I'm going to recognize a race team for making a great move. This could be a pit call, a pit strategy, or a move on the race track.

This week I'm giving the COTR to the crew of the #40 Elite Series car of Megan Driver. The decision to give up the lead with 3 laps to go was not only gutsy, but clever. The team knew they were going to be close on fuel and with themselves and the #61 of Ryan Matthews being the only cars on the lead lap at the time, they decided to try something and it worked.

PERFORMANCE PICKS

This upcoming weekend, the stars of the FARC Elite Series take on the 1-mile track in Langhorne, PA. Here's my 5 drivers to watch:

#1 LIBBY BELL

The PSI cars have proven the last few years that they are a force to be reckoned with. While Bell may not be the first choice by some, she has proven she can be just as much of a threat as her teams can.

#2 RACHEL RAINSFORD

The older half-sister of TMMCS championship winning driver, Alexis Rainsford, returns this year to Gravity Racing Inc. Rainsford's teammate, Issac Lightener, won one of the two sprint races at Columbia. Couple that with the great run Rainsford had a year ago and it's hard not to count her out.

#3 JESUS IGNACIO CHAVEZ III

Talk about your come from nothing success story. Chavez, who started racing in FARC thanks for the M-Pire Drive the Dream program, won the B-main in last year's Rockford 200 weekend. This year Chavez could be a contender and just might surprise a lot of people.

#4 LUCAS SWEENEY

Any driver that is running for Pearson/Sweeney can't be count out as a contender. Sweeney, who has 2 career wins in the Elite Series, could be the driver to add to the team's long win history next.

#5 KELLY POSADAS

This week I'm going with Posadas as my underdog driver. The #88 team has had some decent runs as of late and I think this maybe their weekend.

===

FINAL TAKE

Well, 2 round of the Elite Series regular season are completed, and so far, they is yet to be a clear favorite for the championship. Is this the year we see some variety among the winner and contenders? It just might well be.

===

Well that does it for this edition of FTN. Next week, we'll have a recap of the Langhorne weekend, I have another lovely guest for the featured interview, and more.

You're listening to FTN on SRN.
