The "Kimi to Ferrari" thing is getting really wacky right now
OK, Twitter is abuzz at the moment that Kimi has apparently signed a contract to return to Ferrari in 2014. The question is, who is he replacing, and who will he be paired with?
Will Buxton says that the German press is reporting that Alonso will go back to Lotus with his Santander backing and salary assured. The Spanish press say they haven't heard anything about it, and, according to Buxton, the story is changing all the time. I've also heard about Alonso returning to McLaren, perhaps as a replacement for Button, who's yet to sign with the Woking squad for 2014, though Perez has a multi-year deal, thanks to his TelMex backing, and the fact that he hasn't had the chance to drive a real (RE: capable of winning races) McLaren yet, like Button has. Some people are also saying Massa to Sauber, which I think would be ridiculous, as Massa is nowhere near the driver he was five years ago, and once Ferrari finally pull the plug on him, he should just go race IndyCars or something.
But this is by far the silliest F1 silly season in a long time. Sillier than last year, even.

It makes more sense than Kimi and Alonso pairing up. That would have disaster written all over it. We all know what happens if Alonso is told to be the #2 driver at any point in the season

Hmm. 'Nando says he's doing a Twitter Q&A 6 PM local time (Noon Eastern), and that ALL questions will be answered...

I know there's going to probably be Ferrari team orders, but a Kimi and Fernando combo is probably something for the ages, but my question is, will this be enough to beat Finger Boy?

Could be enough to beat Red Bull in the constructors since I don't see Danny Boy scoring as well as Webber.navycook75 wrote:At least he's going back to familiar territory.Milan655 wrote:Deal is done. Kimi is a Ferrari driver.

Re: The "Kimi to Ferrari" thing is getting really wacky right now
The situation of Hamilton vs Alonso is much, much different. Hamilton, being the young driver making a debut in F1, made Alonso embarassed. Here there are 2 very respectable names who both have massive respect between each other.navycook75 wrote:At least he's going back to familiar territory.Milan655 wrote:Deal is done. But, unless the new Renault engine is a massive pile of shite, the Ferrari will have no chance. I have heard the new Ferrari turbo is no good, and with the new car I don't know.

Massa has confirmed that he will not be returning to Ferrari next season.

BBC Sport confirms what Milan said. 1-year deal, with an option for 2015. Alonso will stay at Ferrari.

It's going to be hard to cheer for Kimi being that he'll most likely back to Ferrari next year. But hey, if it'll help him get another championship, I'm fine with that.

Just when I thought the current driver lineup for SHR In NASCAR was the craziest combination in racing, now comes this. I'm actually kinda interested in seeing how this goes though. Both drivers know how to carry a POS car on their back so maybe these two can be the ones to take on Vettel.

He missed his only chance to drive with Ferrari. Bianchi will take Raikkonen's seat when he leaves, and once Alonso leaves/retires the favourite for that seat is Lello Marciello. Unfortunate for Nico, but then again he could find himself in a Lotus next season.

I think he'll end up at Lotus. McLaren isn't going to let Button go off of such a bad season.

I don't care who you are, if a top team like Ferrari offers you a contract, you try to get that all taken care of ASAP. Can't feel sorry for Hulk losing out of a ride at Ferraricrl wrote:Hulk had a good shot:

I just realized that Rob Smedley is now going to be Raikkonen's engineer (I assume).
Rob: "Kimi, turn down brake bias a bit."
Kimi: "Leave me alone! I know what I'm doing!"
Rob: "OK. I mean, I'm just the f**kin' race engineer, what the f**k do I know?"

OK, so, is Felipe saying that Alonso is a better teammate than Schumi, or driver? Or both?

My opinion is that Schumacher had very strong cars always, while Alonso deals with a weaker car more often. Of course, they do always so that the best driver is in the best car though.PackerMan71 wrote:Can't say I agree with this, but to each his own.Milan655 wrote:Seems like he says Alonso is a better driver, which I agree with.crl wrote:OK, so, is Felipe saying that Alonso is a better teammate than Schumi, or driver? Re: The "Kimi to Ferrari" thing is getting really wacky right now
How often has Schumacher had a bad car throughout his F1 career? How often did he have to muscle a car and carry it to a podium or a win? I don't ever recall him doing that.

Hulkenberg appeared on the Drivers Press Conference list with Lotus beside his name. Typo or genuine?
