2014 5-hour Energy 400 @ Kansas - NSCS
Last time out, Denny Hamlin won in what was an entertaining show at Talladega.

Harvick will start on pole for the first ever Saturday night race at the Kansas Speedway.
We'll see how it plays out.

Re: 2014 5-hour Energy 400 @ Kansas - NSCS
Just watching the ticker on NASCAR.com, and "Joe Nemechek will start at the rear for missing driver introductions." popped up...he's starting 43rd...what more can he do to drop to the rear? Not start?

Clint Bowyer just brought out the caution to put EVERYBODY except BK a lap down.

You know, as stupid as Darrell Waltrip usually is, I have to wonder is there's any science behind his "vortex theory". There is storm clouds all around but not over the racetrack right now.

Danica P7
Good win Gordon, Harvick almost made that stick at the end.

Jeff Gordon gets win 89, beating out the closer who came up just short, but holy crap, for a Kansas finish, that was interesting.

The Backmarkers Giveth, The Backmarkers Taketh Away. Alex Bowman also guaranteed Gordon the win when Harvick couldn't get past him in 4 with about 5 to go, but that last lap. That was a fun race, and it was about damn time Gordon took it home.

Great run for Gordon. Should silence some of his whiny critics.

Re: 2014 5-hour Energy 400 @ Kansas - NSCS
That was a very solid race. Despite the fact that Harvick made a little bit zzzzzz worthy near the end, the fuel situation made things interesting, and as it would turn out, Gordon would finally get to victory lane, but not before a last lap charge by Harvick, and he almost pulled it off. Keyword: almost.
And how about Danica tonight finishing 7th. She just falls short of breaking the record for highest finish by a female in Cup, which was 5th set all the way back in 1949, but she gave us a little bit of a thrill, and God knows what would've happened to the universe had she won this race legit.
Overall, a very solid race, which has been a welcome change in pace for NASCAR this season. In terms of entertainment value, this has been the best start to a Cup season in quite some time, and this race continued that trend.
The 2014 5-hour Energy 400 @ Kansas gets a solid 6.5/10.
I'd get the sleeping pills and pillows ready for the next two weeks, though, because we're going to... Charlotte. Good grief. This season has been solid, but the 600 just might be the first giant turd to be dropped by the Cup Series this season.

Pretty meh race. Gordon wins...Cool i guess.
I'll give Danica credit, She closed the deal tonight and got a good finish tonight. Her next goal should be getting more of those runs.

Re: 2014 5-hour Energy 400 @ Kansas - NSCS
It absolutely love it when Gordon wins. Since his consistency, if so to speak, has kind of fallen off for the past few years, it's always seemed like ages before he could win another race when in reality it wasn't long at all. Good win Gordon! Hope he can keep this up!
I thought this was a good race, but admittedly my attention was kind of falling off in the last half of it. The David Ragan wreck sounded as bad as it looked. I know I've had an expressed dislike for Danica, but if Driver of the Day had to go to anyone, I might have to give it to her. She had a terrific performance today for a team that usually wrecks every other week, and if I ever have to use those words again to describe her I'm going to jam forks into my eyes.

Even though Gordon himself is whiny also. Him and Rick Hendrick bitching about Richmond 2013 lost me a lot of respect for him, they didn't deserve to be in the chase.
