I guess it's safe to say that A-Rod's career is pretty much over at this point.

My opinion on what should happen to him is that since he is a first time offender, he should only get the 50 game suspension, but then suspend 200 games for lying about his PED use. Also I would allow him to appeal his suspension, and if he wins only cut it in half, but if he loses, double it.

MLB should just ban anyone who fails a drug test... that will scare users
Also, Ryan Braun shoul've been suspended for next year... He lied that he took PED's plus he stole the 2011 MVP
And last but not least, why is A-ROD getting possibly a life ban? Not anyone else,
Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, Clements & countless others should also be punished the same way...

Wasn't against the rules when they did it, technically. I mean, it was, but it wasn't because MLB doesn't know it's own rule book half the time.
Plus, A-Rod tried to hinder an investigation by the MLB, and tried to recruit players to BioGenesis, and had already failed a random drug test in 2003 (I think this was said in the Mitchell Report).

He also already admitted to using steroids back in 2007.Cardinals5 wrote:Lucstar88 wrote:MLB should just ban anyone who fails a drug test... that will scare users

Re: The moment that everyone has waited for...
Alex Rodriguez is suspended for 211 games, meaning he will play the series vs CWS. Will likely appeal. From watching lots of sports news.
THIS could get REALLY ugly...
Also, the appeal could last until the season is over.

Re: The moment that everyone has waited for...
My take on this is in the form of a rant/satire.
tl;dr version: Disagree with just a suspension, a lifetime ban would have sent a heavy-handed, yet necessary message that this stuff can no longer be tolerated.
The office of the Fatman (Tom Delgado) is not pleased with our spineless commissioner Allan H. "Bud" Selig. By not acting on what should have been a lifetime ban for New York Yankees player Alex Rodriguez, he has missed an opportunity to make headway towards amending the wrongs his administration has caused in this, the steroid era. By giving him the chance to appeal and play whilst the appeal is being heard, they are continuing to fuel Mr. Rodriguez's "me first" mentality as he chases every last dollar that he can get before he gets the banhammer that he justly deserves! Therefore, I am announcing that effective today, I, Thomas Delgado Jr., seek to become the next commissioner of Major League Baseball. Not only does this league need a commissioner who will lay down the law on those who try to ruin the great game we all love, but we need a commissioner who will dispense PROPER justice. Vote Delgado 2014. Thank you, and bring me another beer.
