Formula 1 - 2013 Hungarian Grand Prix
Lost in the shuffle (I guess) is the last F1 race before the Summer break. The Hungarian GP is usually one of the more tame (read: boring) races in F1, and is held on a circuit, that, in my opinion, looks like a big-ass go-kart track, it's so tight.
This year, however, we're coming into this race from the Young Drivers Test, where a lot of the current F1 drivers took part. Some of the teams, like McLaren, may improve off of that.
Lewis Hamilton won this race last year, with Raikkonen and Grosjean finishing 2-3 for the second time in the season (Bahrain being the other occasion).
Any predictions?

The Lotus floor of Romain Grosjean has been deemed illegal and has failed post-quali tech inspection. He will start from 24th.

The penalty's been rescinded. Apparently, there was damage on the floor that caused it to fail.

We wouldn't want Grosjean starting at the back, knowing his past record.

Grosjean's penalty, in the words of Bulldog Briscoe from Frasier, was "total BS."

Grosjean has been handed a 20-second penalty for the collision with Button, but he had enough of a buffer over Jenson to maintain his 6th place finish.

Re: Formula 1 - 2013 Hungarian Grand Prix
Apparently, there's been a rumor going around the paddock this weekend that Alonso's manager met with Christian Horner recently. Know anything about that, Milan?

And now Alonso is under investigation for possible illegal use of DRS.

Nah, he was outside the track limits, so they were right to give him the drive-through. Still ruined a badass overtake though.

Re: Formula 1 - 2013 Hungarian Grand Prix
I just got done watching the replay of the race. I thought Grosjean got screwed, mostly from poor pit strategy. Glad to see Hamilton get a win for Mercedes after proving everyone wrong, and even happier to see Kimi finish 2nd.
So no more F1 racing for a month...cool.

I haven't heard much, but I don't think it was related to Alonso. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Garcia Abad does manage Carlos Sainz Jr, which may have been the direction of the meeting.

Some of what I've been reading since I heard about that rumor has said the same thing. It would make a lot more sense.

20 second penalty was BS. Button forced him off if anything.
But the other penalty where he supposedly went out of bounds passing Massa was bullcrap. Did he get caught sleeping with an FIA offical's wife?!?

I'm not sure how Button could have forced him off when he was on the outside of the circuit..

Yeah, this. Grosjean did move over on Button, I'm not sure how you could see it any other way.

James Allison has agreed terms with Ferrari and is set to join as Technical Director in September. Meanwhile the Indian Grand Prix is supposedly not likely to take place in 2014 says Bernie. Additionally, Pirelli want wider rear tyres for next season.

Alonso is now a canidate for the seat according to Christian Horner, but Ferrari and the manager say that the talks were only about Carlos Sainz Jr.Milan655 wrote:crl wrote:Apparently, there's been a rumor going around the paddock this weekend that Alonso's manager met with Christian Horner recently. Re: Formula 1 - 2013 Hungarian Grand Prix
Carlos Sainz Jr drives for Chrisitian Horner's team, Arden, and is also a Red Bull driver. Alonso holds a contract with Ferrari until the end of 2014, and Alonso says he's happy with Ferrari. Additionally, Ferrari have been very mute on any future drivers-of their youth system only Jules Bianchi is experienced enough to join, which perhaps is enough to suggest he may be taking Massa's seat next season.
Edit: Alonso supposedly criticised Ferrari at the end of the Grand Prix

I hear Riccardio has locked the seat for Red Bull and it's all but confirmed.
