Does anyone run their own personal canon in their spare time?

Post by BigDaddy24 on Sat Jun 29, 2013 12:33 am

I decided to make this topic because I wanted to see if anyone ran their own personal canon in their spare time. I do that during my free time. In my personal canon I have 6 main leagues, all of them are intended to be mirror reflections of real-life leagues. Those leagues are:

FASTCAR Elite Series (Reflection of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series)
FASTCAR Junior Series (Nationwide)
FASTCAR Truck Series (Camping World Trucks)
FASTCAR Modified Series (Whelen Modifieds)
Formula X (F1)
FeatherCar Series (IndyCar)

I've also been trying to think up a name for a series similar to ARCA, but I've been stumped (Obviously ARLA was taken. Thanks, Ceej Rolling Eyes) . As a matter of fact, just about all of the drivers that I'm using or planning to use in the TM Canon originally came from my personal canon, with the only exceptions being the GARSPA drivers, although their backstories are a lot more wackier in the TM Canon. In fact, most of them are actually fairly normal in my canon, as shocking as that may be. The only obvious exception to that would probably be Yuri Soonahvabeach, because in no way would a normal person have a name like that. Obviously I'm gonna have to scrap him from the TM Canon cause the name's just too damn stupid, and I guess the names "Emma Decatur", "Isaac Hawk", "Dick Indibut", "Fugg Kew", "Alkik Yurass", and "Yuran Ahsol" aren't gonna work either. Considering the possibility that some of those names would probably get a person punched in the face more times than Cameron Taylor, I guess that shouldn't be too much of a surprise. Well, there goes my plans for a future team called "LOL! Racing", which is a team full of drivers with crazy names.

But I guess that's the benefit to having your own series, you can make the driver names as crazy as you want and always get away with it Twisted Evil Maniacal Laughter. Though in all honesty I rarely ever have to resort to that.

I actually do run a league of my own, it's mostly among my friends, but I have considered doing race reviews on YouTube at some point.

I started something like that a few years ago for the Nascar Racing 3 game. In that world a group of disgruntled Nascar fans split off to form their own series. I actually brought it over here in the "Minor Leagues" section.

I've been running an offline virtual career on NR2003 for the last couple of years, started in 2003, currently in 2010.

Been running a reject drivers series featuring drivers who were awful over the years. Quite fun.

First champion was "Hollywood" Lance Hooper.

I've done alternate championships of real-life racing, like NASCAR and IndyCar. In the Cup Series, Mark Martin won the 1990 and 2004 Cup title, and immediately retired after 2005. Jeff Gordon has 8 titles and has announced his retirement after 2010 (its not rigged, Nelson Razz), I'm on 2010 and Jimmie Johnson still has not won a Cup title, becoming a chronic bridesmaid/choke artist.

Seasons I've ran:
1987: Neil Bonnett
1990: Mark Martin
2000: Jeff Gordon
2001: Jeff Gordon
2002: Jeff Gordon
2003: Dale Earnhardt Jr.
2004: Mark Martin
2005: Tony Stewart
2006: Jeff Gordon
2007: Jeff Gordon
2008: Carl Edwards
2009: Tony Stewart
2010: season in progress

I also started simulating the IRL in 204, where Kanaan won the title. Simming 2005 now.

I run my own canon, with completely fictional drivers and history, but real manufactuers. the series I run include...

IRCA Monster Energy Cup Series (Sprint Cup)
IRCA Mountain Dew Junior Series (Nationwide)
IRCA Miller Lite Truck Series (Camping World Trucks)
IRCA Ford Ecoboost Young Guns Series (ARCA)
Discount Tires Overdrive (kind of a American version of F1)
Formula XP (F1)
Quaker State Racing Series (also like ARCA)

the MEC will have videos for this year.

Similarly, I've been simulating a racing career using a mixture of simulators. So far only had to use rFactor, F1 Challenge, GP4 and GTR2:

1992: International F3000 (rFactor) - Champion with Agip Crypton Engineering
1993: F1 (rFactor w/ F1 Challenge physics) driving for Lola - 5th with 3 wins, the Lola was slightly OP as Michele Alboreto in the other Lola also won twice scratch
1994: F1 (rFactor w/ F1 challenge physics) driving for Sauber - 9th with 2 podiums
1995: CART (rFactor) - Champion for Payton/Coyne
1996: BPR Global GT Series (GTR2) - 3rd place driving Ferrari F50
1997: FIA GT (GTR2) - Champion driving Mclaren F1
1998: LMES + Le Mans 24 Hours (GTR2) - 2nd place driving Ferrari 333SP, retired in Le Mans 24 Hours
1999: LMES + Le Mans 24 Hours (GTR2) - 1st place with Ferrari 333SP, 5th in Le Mans 24 Hours
2000: LMES + Le Mans 24 Hours (GTR2) - 4nd place with Rafanelli Lola B2k, 3rd in Le Mans 24 Hours
2001: FIA GT + Le Mans 24 Hours (GTR2) - Preparing to drive with Pescarolo Courage C60 in Le Mans and a Prodrive Ferrari 550 in FIA GT

Only managed up to 2000 so far, won the championship in 1992, 1995, 1997, 1999.

Yeah, I'm getting that too. He's either lost championships due crashes/car failures, or never was in the hunt in the first place due to even more crashes/car failures.

I created a fictional Canon back when I still played with die cast cars and keep it somewhat going with NR. The names of the leagues were dumb, but I've kept them for memories sake. I've had thought about bringing one here when NRC is in off season.

I do indeed. I run a Cup mod series called The TJRL that I have been running since 2009 has been a pretty fun series. Thomas Moore, Pierre Marquese, and Jacob Mac have been the strongest forces the last few years despite only Marquese being the lone championship winner of the three. I am starting to put together an Indycar series, but the cars are really hard to paint for me.

I'm not sure this counts, but in the whole mess of a canon that is the F1 Rejects forum, I run the historical F1 series.

I am trying to do a series in which various NASCAR drivers from Various NASCAR era's race against each other. Ranging from Richard Petty and David Pearson, to more obscure drivers like Maruice Randall and Tommy Gale.

It Follows the 1990 Schedule but also adds two Riverside races, Two Nashville Races, a Race at Chicago, Loudon and Texas (Or Texas World not sure which one yet).
