Of note, Bobby Labonte scores two last place finishes in a row, as the 47 has officially retired. Guess Kyle Petty's right, it's not the driver they need to look at to evaluate their performance, what a joke...

I guess Gordon was supposed to imbed himself in the tire wall there, according to NASCAR......

This has been quite the odd race. The weirdest part though? Tomy Drissi hasn't thrown the car off track...yet.

Yes Yes Yes. Martin Truex Jr. finally wins after a 6-year misery. Great yet unusual race.

Re: 2013 Toyota/Save Mart 350 @ Sonoma - Sprint Cup
I can only imagine how Truex is feeling right now, knowing that he went on a longer winless streak than the likes of Dale Jr. and Jeff Burton, so glad he can make it back to the Winner's Circle after 6 years of heartbreak and frustration.
Re: 2013 Toyota/Save Mart 350 @ Sonoma - Sprint Cup
I'll never know how Truex made it on fuel, but who cares? he won! he deserved that.

Re: 2013 Toyota/Save Mart 350 @ Sonoma - Sprint Cup
Congrats to Truex. It's about damn time you broke that long winless drought!
Easily the whackiest race of the year so far. Between Harraka using ARCA brakes, Hamlin creating a black hole in turn 4, racing in the rain on slicks, and Kyle Boooosh driving like a tool, this was without a doubt the weirdest race of the season, and it was a lot of fun to watch. Pretty damn good racing throughout, as well. What we've all come to expect from road course racing, and yes, there should be a roadie in the chase. Maybe that one in Austin, Texas...?
The 2013 Toyota/Save Mart 350 @ Sonoma gets a 7.5/10.

Re: 2013 Toyota/Save Mart 350 @ Sonoma - Sprint Cup
Ambrose will never get that Sonoma win. Hopefully he's best finish of the year will give him confidence for the next few races going into Watkins Glen.
Re: 2013 Toyota/Save Mart 350 @ Sonoma - Sprint Cup
TRUEX!!! I'm glad to see him break the winless drought, though I didn't expect it to be on a road course. It's always nice seeing someone from NJ and win it. Not to mention Jeff Gordon had a strong run. I'd call it a nice birthday gift.
Like others have said, it was a rather bizarre race, and it was surprisingly clean for the most part. This is the best race the Sprint Cup Series had all year, besides Fontana. Too bad the only thing worth looking forward to is the F1 race at Silverstone.
Oh, about what happened before the start of the race...wtf??? I don't even know what to say about what I saw with Harraka making a fool out of himself. I don't think I've seen a NASCAR driver fail that hard in quite a while. This better make Brian Keselowski think twice about who he should put in his car.

Nice race with a few hijinks in the middle of the road.
Nice to see Truex back in the winner's circle as it almost seemed as hard for him to win the 2nd one then the 1st. Tough luck for Montoya as good runs have gone on the wide due to trivial things.
Harraka proves he sucks within 5 minutes,
Cool stuff.

Nice to see Martin finally get that much need win. And how Jeff Gordon and Kurt Busch. Nice top 5s for them.
Saying that TBH I didn't think the race was that spectacular. Granted I did miss the first 18 laps (had to work overnight and didn't get to be till 6:30am), so that was probably when most of the sillyness occured. But, for a NASCAR road race hell for Sonoma in general that race was not really that entertaining.

Re: 2013 Toyota/Save Mart 350 @ Sonoma - Sprint Cup
If it was an F1 race it would have been really good. Nascar being held to a different standard though, yeah, it was somewhat lacking compared to other races this season. Overall I thought it was a decent raceday500champ1 wrote:Nice to see Martin finally get that much need win. And how Jeff Gordon and Kurt Busch. Nice top 5s for them.

While Gordon was clawing his way back up to the front of field, PRN said "Cue the Jaws music!".
Also, after the race, Jeff Burton had a discussion with Tony Stewart before Stewart got out of his car. Stewart spent a good amount of time in his car before finally admitting that he screwed up too many times today.

While there were too many cautions in a row at one point for my liking, this has to be one of my favorite NASCAR races this year. Congrats to Truex for getting that 2nd win he deserved about five years ago.

Wet Weather?!?
Steve Wallace DEFINITELY deserves a ride now, if this guy gets a Cup ride with only 15 national touring races under his belt.
