NSCS : Party in the Poconos 400
Last Year, Joey Logano won his 2nd career race after a late battle with Mark Martin. Will Joey win for the 2nd straight year @ Pocono?
Jimmie Johnson has a 30 point lead on Carl Edwards. Will the points lead increase or decrease.
Tony Stewart won last week @ Dover, will Tony continue his hot streak, since he's better in the summer months, will JPM continue his streak of good finishes?
We will all find out on SUNDAY

First up, that thread that I made for this, forget it ever happened. Second, I'm predicting a win by JPM.

I know he's been competing in the World of Outlaws but I'm not sure if that's a full-time deal for Leffler or not.

I WILL be going to this race, so I'll report what I see (which will be jack shit, since it's Pocono, and I've always heard its a bad place to watch a race)

His performances running with Ganassi and Gibbs explains why he is never in top equipment.

Joey won because Mark botched Turn one pretty bad and made it looked like he bumped him.

I must have been thinking of a different race.
I could have sworn there was a race which Mark botched the corner and let someone pass him. This wasn't it though.

Love how when one driver does a bump and run for the win, they are assholes but its fine for someone else to do it.
Re: NSCS : Party in the Poconos 400
Pocono is a track that you can pass someone without resorting to that, Marty and Bristol i can understand since those tracks have little room for passing opportunities other then moving the guy so you can get under him. But not at a track like Pocono...Plus he did it too one of his biggest supporters in Nascar and one of the top 5 most well liked guys in the series.RACECAR wrote:Love how when one driver does a bump and run for the win, they are assholes but its fine for someone else to do it.

Well the weather for, dare I say this.....RAIN, tomorrow would mean no possible track activity at all. Although the weekend is looking pretty good.

THAT'S NOT WHAT I SAID.
You don't bump Mark Martin. Ever. Because he would never do the same to you unless you did it first.
Remember the June 1997 race at Dover? Martin was all over Ricky Rudd in the final 20 or so laps. He could've bumped Ricky, but he didn't. Why? Because, in Mark's own words:
"That's stealing, and I don't believe in stealing.''
Also, Ricky Rudd was not the type of guy you wanted to piss off. Ask Sterling Marlin and Kevin Harvick.
Logano was all over Martin's bumper, and would've gotten around him eventually. For him to bump Mark out of the way showed me that he's incapable of winning races on his own merit. Mark Martin has won 40 Sprint Cup races (so far) without, as far as I know, putting the bumper to someone.
And, while people like Stewart and Earnhardt have used the bumper on people to win races in the past, they were also capable of winning races by getting up front and staying there.

It's probably the same reason why I think Logano is never gonna win another race again, even when driving for a championship-winning team.
Re: NSCS : Party in the Poconos 400
I think Logano will win a few more races in his career but he'll probably have the same amount of wins Jamie McMurray does now when he ends his career.
Re: NSCS : Party in the Poconos 400
Mother Nature has been wreaking havoc on the Pocono Raceway this week, and its no different today. Qualifying has been cancelled and set by the rulebook, however because there was no practice, Jimmie Johnson is the pole sitter as the #48 team is the leader in owners points.

And as much as I like Martin, that's why he never was Champion (unless you want to think it was stolen from him in 1990). He was talented, but he was too nice a guy, and to win a championship, sometimes, you got to lay a bumper on a guy now and again. Not wreck a guy, just "rattle a cage".

Two things:
1. Where did I say you said that? You aren't the only person to have used that term in relation to said incident so I wasn't specifically targeting you.
2. As much as I believe more in out-driving someone instead of making contact just to get around, it was the last lap and it was for the win. Also, so anyone who bumps someone to win is "Incapable of winning on their own merit". Then going off that, there are a lot of short track racers, both in the lower Ranks AND in cup, that fit this description. He won races without bumping, good for him. So have many others.

And as much as I hate Joey right now, that's pretty much all he did. He didn't wreck or take him out, just a bump & run. Mark wasn't even mad, he himself said they were "racing hard" and I'm willing to bet Joey wasn't the first to bump him out the way for the win.

Re: NSCS : Party in the Poconos 400
Blehhhh.
This race should've come with a sticker: WARNING! THIS RACE CONTAINS POISONOUS AMOUNTS OF SUCKAGE! WATCH AT YOUR OWN RISK!
In all seriousness, though, this race was boring as hell. Even worse was the fact that we all knew who was gonna win before the race even began. Lolz at NASCAR for throwing questionable cautions to try to make the race interesting. News flash: it didn't work.
Even with the ridiculous race title, I had some optimism that this race could've been something like last year's. Sadly, that wasn't the case. Thank God Formula 1 was on, because this race sucked.
The Party in the Poconos 400 gets a 2.5/10.

I'm going to say this and you might want to mark it or write it down or whatever.
But for the first time since I've started watching NASCAR, I'm going to call a race boring. Granted there was a some nice battles for position. The race overall just didn't capture my interest.
That being said good runs by Kurt, Newman, and Jr. as well.

Thanks to the 39 team for making this interesting with their pit strategy.

In terms of viewing a race at Pocono, it's not that bad. Yeah, you aren't going to see everything, but I could see a good portion of track (front straight all the way to Tunnel Turn.)
But in terms of quality. Yes. This sucked!

I think I secretly called it myself that races would be a bit better this year with the new Gen-6 car? Turns out a lot of them haven't been great.
