Kurt Busch probably won't race. He said he doesn't plan on doing the double but maybe 2014.

Ed Carpenter has entered a second car with no driver. It will be the #40 car.

Re: 2013 Indianapolis 500
The reason for that is so if their primary car is slower than the back-up car (T) in qualifying and one car makes it and the other doesn't, they can use the T car to race in the 500.
Back to what I was going to say, I can see one of the Lazier brothers running Ed Carpenter's 2nd car.

Buddy Lazier confirmed. I'm glad to see him officially back.
Btw, in a radio interview with Ed Carpenter, he said that there is a 95% possibility the 40 car will never hit the track. It was probably either a placeholder car if there wasn't 33 cars or something similar to his second car last year. (wreck replacements) Just my speculation though.

What's up with Zanardi? I know he's stated numerous times that he wants to race this thing and with talent like his he should have no trouble finding a ride...so why hasn't he?

They have one of the biggest feel good stories though if it ever happens.

Anywho, looked like the rookies were pretty fast today. Newgarden looked strong too. I hope to get to the track some time next week, then Pole Day. By the way, a third Schmidt car has officially been entered, and Rice is once again the top candidate. This article briefly mentions the car and Rice.

I believe it's because the Newgarden car is running Century 21 sponsorship for the Month of May at Indy.

I believe Ed did as well in turn two during Pole Day last year, and Charlie Kimball might have as well. I think Power did to in the race after he ran into Conway.

No racecar is perfectly safe, and improvements can be progressively to get to that goal. So, in the offseason I think that is something they should look into. That's all I was saying. I never said the DW12 was more unsafe than the old car. I'm grateful for all Indycar has done with the new car, and I think they've done a fantastic job.

Still...There's no need to freak the hell out over "omg someone might die." Just cause one car gets airborne. Don't see everyone do that went it happens in Nascar....In fact people cheer for it.Mother of Invention wrote:Alta wrote:No Right Side + Gravity/Physics + Wind = AirJMac525 wrote:First incident of the month: Conor Daly in the wall. Buddy Lazier got on track today. His car is black and orange, and it's the nicest car out there, barring the 6 car (which would look a lot better if the paint wasn't literally flying off the car...).
He has no T car, so he better get the most out of this one, and most importantly, DON'T CRASH IT. Especially because...

Lazier Partners Racing purchased from Lotus the 2012 Dallara chassis that Jean Alesi drove for Fan Force United in the Indianapolis 500. Lazier, who has logged more than 2,600 race laps on the 2.5-mile oval, served as Alesi’s driver coach for the month.

I agree. In the limited time I saw the #91 today, it looked really nice. I originally wanted to see LPR run the classic purple/white Hemelgarn scheme on the #91 for old times sake, but this one looks great.
I've always liked Buddy, so I hope he can have a successful month.

Dat top 6...holy crap!!!
For some reason, I thought Pole Day ended an hour earlier than it actually did. I can't believe I missed it! I can imagine it must've been quite a reaction when Ed Carpenter got the pole. I think the biggest surprise though is Carlos Munoz. I didn't think he'd be qualifying anywhere near the front like he did today! Man, I'm pumped up for next weekend!

They said earlier on NBCSN that Graham Rahal drove Jourdain's car for a few laps and was saying the same thing, but the more I'm watching this the more I agree with this. IMO, I think Bobby Rahal should have put another driver in the car that had a better chance to win the 500, let alone be competitive at all.
