...and while 5 of the 6 gave the right answer, it was Ed Hinton who gave the best answer (Turn 1):

Someone needs to remind Nascar the last time Indycar tried a gimmick. Does 2011 Vegas ring a bell to them.

I honestly thought, as much of a Jimmie Johnson shill as he is, Smith would've argued in favor, but he didn't. Surprise, surprise, it was that asshole Blount.

It won't work for Indycar because open wheel cars are faster and more dangerous, and gimmicks like GWCs are a bad idea.

Maybe just for Indy. The whole ending of that race was kind of a disappointment.

Are you kidding? I wasn't disappointed at all. Much better than seeing Marco win, and having the media (read: ABC) go all nuts when, if his last name were Smith, he'd be racing legends cars at his local Saturday night track, because there's no way he'd have lasted seven years as mediocre as he is.

I was probably anticipating a repeat of the 4-wide finish (: .

There are no G-W-C finishes in the V8's, & that doesn't effect (to me) how the finish is. Maybe they should let them cross the line at full speed, which I've seen done before, & it makes for a little more interesting finish. I hate the G-W-C, because it ruins what was a good race (if NASCAR were to have a good race at all lately)

Why don't NASCAR adopt 1-lap shootout finishes? I don't think they've ever thought of it before but to me it would seem like a great idea.

Marco has been improving recently. This year, he's shown a lot of potential and, hell, he's got the points lead. I think things are finally on the up for him.
Back on topic, it should be GWC's for the whole series or not at all. Not just for once race, or all but one race. Personally, I think indycar are fine without them.
