Not a good day to be a NASCAR driver from Wisconsin

kinda surprised Sauter's penalty wasn't as big as Kenseth's given it was a fuel cell problem, which is in theory as bad as an engine issue.

You have to remember that Sauter's problem was in a lower tier series, and the penalties are always less than the Cup Series.

On Kenseth's penalty, would this be the first time they've taken manufactuer's points away in a penalty. That's the part that surprised me the most.

They might have well just disqualified Kenseth then...they practically did that already.

By the way, will JGR accuse Hendrick of tattletaling, like Penske did?

Funny line from TSN.ca
In one of the largest penalties in history, NASCAR stripped Matt Kenseth of everything but the trophy from his victory at Kansas after his engine failed a post-race inspection.
This made me laugh Laughing

Interesting Fact
Last guy that had a engine violation got suspended 8 races, lost 200K & still hasn't payed it

Well at least for once NASCAR actually shows some consistency in handing out hefty penalties.

Gibbs could win an appeal on this though.

TRD pretty much fessed up and said they gave Gibbs a faulty part. Gibbs could easily use this to his advantage and have the penalty reduced.

I'm all for Nascar faulting teams that are known to play with the rules in the past...but good god that penalty is overkill.

^Agreed. I checked the article to see what was illegal on Kenseth's engine. Having connecting rods below minimum weight can definitely affect engine performance, even it weighs a few grams lighter than it supposed to be. The penalty, holy crap. Can't they just give the win to Kasey Kahne and be done with it?

As for the whole fuel cell issue, there's a couple of guys I know that are working for ThorSport this year. I'll ask them about it when I get a chance to see what their story is.
