Re: 2013 Honda Grand Prix of ST. Petersburg
There's a second Coyne car that could show up. It has full sponsorship from the Boy Scouts so unless that transfers to the #18 it wouldn't surprise me if there's a last minute entry. I would say Ryan Briscoe but he seems to be more intersted in racing in sportscars. Maybe Connor Daly?
Re: 2013 Honda Grand Prix of ST. Petersburg
I've read reports that Ana Beatriz and Stefan Wilson will share the #18 this year. I'd be pretty interested to see how Stefan would do.
Anyways, I am super pumped for this new Indycar season!

Re: 2013 Honda Grand Prix of ST. Petersburg
Jenna Fryer tweeted yesterday how nobody in the media knew Beatriz was going to be in the 18.
Re: 2013 Honda Grand Prix of ST. Petersburg
Even I knew that! Most indycar forums had Bia penciled in for the Coyne car a couple of weeks ago.
Re: 2013 Honda Grand Prix of ST. Petersburg
Post a link to the entry list, Antman, stop copy+pasting, you're better then that...

Here's the link to the entry list.

Oh, and there's an Indy Lights race at St. Pete too, with a massive nine car entry list, with only four teams with entries.

From the beginning of the series there wasn't more than 15-18 cars.AntmanB wrote:Alta wrote:Jesus Indy Lights.flyingturns89 wrote:

Re: 2013 Honda Grand Prix of ST. Petersburg
F3000 Euroseries had admissions of around 8-10 cars a race toward the end of its lifetime, however it's of course now been revitalised as Auto GP. There is hope in Indy Lights, if a team (such as Coloni with Auto GP) put any effort into restoring it.

They still have the Pro Mazda Championship (formerly known as the Star Mazda Championship) and the U.S. F2000 National Championship, which have garnered decent car counts over the past few seasons.
Re: 2013 Honda Grand Prix of ST. Petersburg
Will Power will start on pole with Takuma Sato next to him. Way to go Simona de Silvestro in 3rd.

^While Sato qualifying 2nd in a Foyt car is impressive, inb4 Sato causes a big pile up at the start of the race.

Same goes for Vautier. The way he performed today, even if there were other rookie contenders, I don't think any rookies would have a good shot at beating him for ROTY.
EDIT: What...the hell...was that??? o_O

Hildebrand had a short straightaway right after that corner where he could have messed with his knobs. Still no Dice Game points for me.
Re: 2013 Honda Grand Prix of ST. Petersburg
Props to J.R. for owning up to it though. That's more than I can say for a lot of people in racing.

Hell of a race! Great to see Hinch on top of the podium, and what a ride for Simona. She gave it her all as he tires fell off the cliff.

Quite the start to the 2013 season. Hinchcliffe certainly earned that race.

Re: 2013 Honda Grand Prix of ST. Petersburg
I only watched the final 13 laps of this race (sadly) because I was working outside for a few hours, but what I saw was excellent. Congrats to Hinchcliffe on his first career win, holding off Castroneves, and major props to Simona on a very game effort to get on the podium. Even though she fell to sixth, great effort on her part.
If this is what we're gonna see the rest of the season, IndyCar could kick some serious ass this year, and with some events having two races in the same weekend, that means MOAR IndyCar for all of us.
That's why my final rating for this race is a 7.5/10.

Awesome race! Battle for 3rd was amazing at the end and a bunch of passing throughout
Hinchy finally bringing it home, Simona proving that Danica is expendable, and Hildebrand with a bizarre caution wreck.
First race leaves a lot excitement on the table.

Thing is, if Simona were to win a race, it wouldn't get a quarter the coverage because she isn't Danica, which is sad.

The coverage she got for just 6th after running 3rd most of the day proves otherwise i think.PYLrulz wrote:Alta wrote:Awesome race! Battle for 3rd was amazing at the end and a bunch of passing throughout

Simona could have been third if Marco didn't go Jamie Melo on her in the closing laps. That said, I was impressed with Marco, Simona, and especially Hinchcliffe.
What JR Hildebrand did was truly stupid.

I think that was more for the fact that most of the action toward the last two laps was centered on her battle with both entropy and Marco Andretti rather than her being a woman. The three-wide finish for fifth probably didn't hurt much either.
