It'd be nice to see less Holdens on the grid, and it would be nice to see Chrysler in V8s. Very Happy

Not sure it will be too nice to see these Chryslers. FIAT definitely hired the wrong people to design them...

So I presume that Ford's shutdown would be big news in the V8 series.

Pretty big crash at the start of race 3 in Darwin. I reckon Whincup trying to go 3 wide with Mclaughlin Bright caused that, because it made Slade try it as well &, well, the rest is absolute carnage.

The TRIPLE8WINSLOL steamroller has come to a shuddering halt at Townsville, as the two works cars of Lowndes and Whincup are stranded in the midfield on the grid for race 1. Meanwhile, the Giz has hauled one of the Triple 8 satellite cars kicking and screaming all the way to pole position, and be the only T8-built machine in the top 10 on the grid.

This race is gonna be good Very Happy

Someone needs to teach Davison how to do victory doughnuts without clouting the nearby barrier. Laughing

Overall, I have to say that was a pretty good race all round, although I am kinda disappointed that Brighty couldn't get Lowndes in the end with the newly-modified BJR V8 Supertractor.

Race 23 was Scott McLaughlin's 2nd career win. Race 24 was Chaz Mostert's first career win, and DJR's first win since the 2010 Sydney lolwhatarewettyres race. Winton will be the last round before the Enduro Cup.

The highlight of the day though was Dean Fiore going for a swim in the Dodo Commodore. Laughing

Lucas Dumbrell must be getting sick seeing stuff like that though, considering how many times they've had to repair both the Fiore and Pye cars this year.

I never thought I'd say this, but the two Norton Datsuns are the cars to have this weekend. I mean, if Caruso hadn't fired off the road at the penultimate corner, he would have been on his way to an easy pole position.

That's because for all intents and purposes, he shouldn't. Triple 8 have been well off-form since Townsville, but they've had the good fourtune of having a decent buffer before then, and the fact that no single driver or team can fully capitalise on their awful form. Although, with the departure of Burgess to HRT, there is hope that the TRIPLE8WINSLOL steamroller may have been vanquished once and for all. Very Happy

Is it just me or is the Whincup car the only one that ever gets pinged for spinning wheels in the pitlane? Laughing

Didn't stop the WHINCUPWINSLOL steamroller though. Hopefully the usual Bathurst madness can put an end to that however.

I just got back from a movie with my girlfriend after the spinning wheels incident, &, quite frankly, didn't enjoy watching  what I saw. Was more entertained by the Knights v Bulldogs final (& I'm not even a fan of either team) I still have no idea how in less than 80 laps, Whincup went from 17th or 18th to win the race by nearly 10 seconds, whilst Mostert, also hit with a drive-thru, only managed to get up to 14th.

I didn't watch the race either, I was out all day and came home about 6. Must have been a bad race since you said the Bulldogs-Knights elimination game was better than it, and it was probably the worst game of the finals so far.

Honestly, I don't like the 500 being at Sandown. It never entertains me. It's a good sprint race track, but not for endurance racing

The Tru-Blu car from last year was better, but that's still a solid effort.

Anyway, it's panic stations down at Erebus as they're trying to rebuild the Slade/Thompson car after it crunched the wall hard at the Cutting, to the point where there's doubt as to whether it can continue for the rest of the weekend. They're also rebuilding the Alex Davison car down at FPR after he dumped it into the wall at Reid Park a few minutes later.

That was also after Thompson went into the Chase without any brakes.

Anyway Whincupwinslol is looking good after being fastest in practice. Only if the interesting things of the day was after the first two sessions, the Dunlop Development Series cars were faster than the V8's.

Ross Stone confirmed this morning that the 47 will not do anything today except be repaired. This means that one place on the grid is already confirmed, with the 47 now starting last.

The second half of the shootout had four of the highest-quality laps I have seen in a long time, but in the end, WHINCUPPOLELOL prevailed.

But nevermind that shit, look at what they got up to on Friday night Laughing

Biggest humour heading into this weekend at Gold Coast is Will Davison going to Erebus.

Which is now even bigger because Chaz Mostert will now be replacing Davison as of next season. In other news both Mark Winterbottom and Rick Kelly have resigned for their respective teams.

Combined practice times from today's session.

No surprise who was fastest, big surprise who was in 3rd, and the biggest surprised of all was who's in 23rd. The BJR team will be working overnight after Andrew Jones crashed at turn 2.

If you told me before qualifying that Winterbottom, Davison and JDub would be starting 14th, 21st and 25th, I'd have laughed you out of the building.

Means the race will be great though Very Happy

That has got to be the worst 10 minutes of Roland Dane's career. The title race has just been blown right out of the water Very Happy

You learn something new every day: Tim Schenken, the V8 Supercar race director, had a podium finish in his F1 days.
