This is around the time I usually do this.
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
First-time winners: Blaney or maybe Almirola
Most wins in a season: Carl Edwards
Upset of the year: Dave Blaney wins at Talladega (could also happen to Nemechek, Gilliland, Ragan, etc.), Ambrose makes the chase
Disappointments: Jeff Burton, Denny Hamlin
Best race of 2012: Watkins Glen
Worst race of 2012: Las Vegas
Retirees at season end: None
Driver of the year: Carl Edwards
Reject of the year: Joey Logano
Most likely to lose ride in the middle of the season: Joey Logano or David Ragan
Champion: Jimmie Johnson
Runner-up: Carl Edwards
NASCAR Nationwide Series:
First-time winners: Michael Annett, Jacques Villeneuve
Most wins in a season: Some Buschwacker
Upset of the year: Mike Bliss wins a race (or two) and finished in 6th or above. Jacques Villeneuve winning on a road course, someone has a career ending injury at Talladega or Daytona
Disappointments: Brian Scott not winning a race
Best race of 2012: Mid-Ohio
Worst race of 2012: California
Retirees at season end: Probably none but maybe Jeff Green
Driver of the year: Trevor Bayne
Reject of the year: Blatentshit (John Blakenship)
Most likely to lose ride in the middle of the season: Hal Martin, Brian Scott, or Blatentshit
Champion: Trevor Bayne
Runner-up: Brian Vickers
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series:
I don't really follow this so some will be blank.
First-time winners: None
Most wins in a season: Timothy Peters
Upset of the year: Whoever wins at Eldora.
Disappointments: Ron Hornaday
Best race of 2012: no idea
Worst race of 2012: no idea
Retirees at season end: Ron Hornaday
Driver of the year: Timothy Peters
Reject of the year: no idea
Most likely to lose ride in the middle of the season: Max Gresham, Ron Hornaday, maybe Johnny Sauter (I hope not)
Champion: Timothy Peters
Runner-up: no idea...maybe Matt Crafton has a breakout season?
General Predictions.
- TriStar sacks their pay drivers (Hal Martin and Blatent Sh!t) when their cash runs out.
- Mike Bliss gets TriStar's first win in their two decades of existence
- Joey Logano is terrible at Penske
- Danica Patrick has a mediocre rookie season
- Jacques Villeneuve or Max Papis wins at Mid Ohio.
- Someone should put Tommy Byrne in a car for Mid Ohio, because he is considered to know Mid Ohio better than anyone in the world (he works for the track and runs on it daily. Sadly I highly doubt he will get into a car)
- Ron Hornaday is fired and retires from racing without a ride a la Sterling Marlin at the end of the year.
- Mayfield reappears in another form of racing (probably USAC)
- Brian Scott is a disaster at RCR
- Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards battle for the championship.
- We never hear from John King again
- Someone will be seriously injured in Talladega. It won't be fatal but it will be the RL equivalent of Woody Watts, as in they can't drive again. Not to be dark and I hope I'm wrong. Most likely in the Nationwide cars due to high speeds and many incompetent drivers.
- At the nationwide Daytona or Talladega race, Mike Bliss and Joe Nemechek take off from the rest of the field in a tandem draft on the last lap and one of them wins.
- David Ragan loses his ride at the end of the season.

Re: 2013 NASCAR Predictions
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
First-time winners: Stenhouse (Almirola will come SO close)
Most wins in a season: Matt Kenseth and Clint Bowyer (4)
Upset of the year:
-Stenhouse finishes 14th in points, and misses chase by 2 points.
-Blaney pushes Logano to the win at one Plate race, if so most likely the 500
-Jeff Gordon has 5 wins (see below)
-Danica, despite failure, collects 2 top 10's and is praised (Glen, some Plate race)
-Stenhouse finishes in the top 5 in the last 3 races, but with only one win, 14th won't be enough.
-the 500's top 5 due to a late wreck: Logano, Kurt Busch, Blaney, Kyle Busch, Vickers.
Disappointments:
-Gordon's luck hits him in the mid-season, but 2 early wins seal his chase, with and 18th place points finish. Then uncharacteristic mistakes cost him his 5th title.
-Kahne is consistent, but finishes 2nd 4 times, and bad luck down the strech and misses the chase
-Greg Biffle (see above)
-Montoya doesn't suck (maybe makes chase)
-Kyle Busch (see above)
-Lolgano (see above, but misses chase)
-BK racing gets top 5's in 2 plate races (maybe
-McMurray does suck
-Menard mediocres to somehow make the chase in 12th with a win at some snooze fest.
-Ambrose finishes 11th with 5 podiums, but no wins and no chase.
Best race of 2012: Martinsville, Talladega
Worst race of 2012: Every 1.5-mile race except chase Kansas
Retirees at season end: Blaney if he has bad luck, Bobby Labonte if he wins, or somehow does worse.
Driver of the year: Truex with 20 Top 10s before the chase, but no wins.
Reject of the year: Newman Dan-an-an-an-an-an-an-an-anica
Most likely to lose ride in the middle of the season: Newman (screws up bad on and off the track)
Champion: Truex after 26, Bowyer in the next 10
Runner-up: Bowyer after 26, Gordon after 10 (screws himself early in the chase trying to retaliate, wins 3 times, but wrecks at Pheonix)
-EGR downsizes to one, and the position battle will be hard, but McMurray gets a huge contract at a team like Petty or Penske and JPM gets car
-RCR mediocres its way to two chasers; no wins.
-Petty gets bigger sponsor contracts for 2014, maybe some EGR's lost ones
-Regan Smith gets a ride late season, maybe switching on-off with Burton or in the 55 or some SHR car.
-Labonte trolls the Martinsville chase race by winning
NASCAR Nationwide Series:
First-time winners: Regan Smith, Ryan Blaney, Ryan Truex, Wallace Jr.
Most wins in a season: Smith, cuppie, cuppie, cuppie, cuppie
Upset of the year: Johanna Long
Disappointments: Every race that's not Daytona, Dega, or a road course.
Best race of 2012: X-way tie with (see above)
Worst race of 2012: 2/3 the races.
Retirees at season end: HOPEFULLY some owner of some crap-team.
Driver of the year: Smith

Champion of the Chick-fil-A-holes: Newman
Runner-up (see above): Jeff Gordon, Boris Said
First-time winners: Stenhouse (Almirola will come SO close)

-BK racing gets top 5's in 2 plate races (maybe
-McMurray does suck
-Menard mediocres to somehow make the chase in 12th with a win at some snooze fest.
-Ambrose finishes 11th with 5 podiums, but no wins and no chase.
Best race of 2012: Martinsville, Talladega
Worst race of 2012: Every 1.5-mile race except chase Kansas

No, Clint Bowyer can't POSSIBLY win a title in cup even though he finished 2nd in points with three wins last year, beating out Jimmie Johnson despite being "mathematically ineligible". Can't happen. Nope.

Clint Bowyer won 3 races and finished 2nd in point this year...I don't know who could be a better choice when Roush is probably gonna screw Penske and Jimmie's chase streak is effectively done. I don't know what you've been watching but Bowyer is the #1 driver of that team.
If the Roush deal is true and their equipment is good as it's been with Stenhouse then Pastrana has a good shot at winning, Johanna might not win but weirder things have happened so it never hurts to be hopeful for a driver you like

also, Johanna has shown that she can do well in iffy equipment, and Pastrami has been dong very well in his Nationwide tenure so far, so what you may call a Troll is actually possible.

Bowyer can win the title, but based on MWR's consistency and ability to run with the top drivers week in and week out, it's highly unlikely. Shouldn't have included it with the NNS first-time winners...

Did you watch Cup this year? The man was up front almost every race and looked pretty damn impressive...If MWR keeps what they had this year they will be a force to be reckonned wirhCasey Lester wrote:Bowyer can win the title, but based on MWR's consistency and ability to run with the top drivers week in and week out, it's highly unlikely. I find it funny you criticize my wishful thinking/trend noticing. So in turn let's break down your post.
So one RCR car is going to win the title while the other flounders, I know that it seems like Burton is on his way out but i think RCR will pay attention to all of his carsDisappointments: Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, Jeff Burton
Champion: 29 Kevin Harvick
Unless Harvick ties in your scenario, i don't see how you can win the title in today's Nascar with out having the most wins overall/in the chaseMost wins in a season: 48 Jimmie Johnson (5)
Runner-up: 48 Jimmie Johnson
First-time winners: Brendan Gaughan, Jake Crum
Do you even watch trucks? Gaughan's won numerous times already in trucks back in the early 2000's.
Jake Crum....Really? Guy had one good run at Bristol until a wreck and that was pretty much the last anyone heard of him this season.
Worst race of 2012: 3/4ths of the schedule
Again did you watch trucks this year at all? Trucks were pretty awesome 95% time of the year and if you aren't hyped about this season with the new addition then you're being absolutely stubborn.
Champion: 3 Austin Dillon
Champion: 3 Ty Dillon
I remember you telling me they're only in on daddy's money and are not talented at all. Change of heart?

I find it funny you criticize my wishful thinking/trend noticing. So in turn let's break down your post.Casey Lester wrote:Disappointments: Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, Jeff Burton
Champion: 29 Kevin Harvick
So one RCR car is going to win the title while the other flounders, I know that it seems like Burton is on his way out but i think RCR will pay attention to all of his cars
I guess I've never really viewed MWR to be a powerhouse team. I mean, coming into the Chase, I knew Truex was out of it. I had some faith in Bowyer for a bit, but I could feel that he just didn't have enough for the 2 and 48, who were just pulling away for a championship battle between themselves. Once Kez got on that streak, I began to think he was going to win it come Homestead and my thinking was right. So I get to add another trophy to all my N'Wide stuff, too.
Maybe. It seemed like Burton was in the middle of nowhere all year while Harvick had some good races. Menard was almost the same as Burton.
Alta wrote:Casey Lester wrote:Most wins in a season: 48 Jimmie Johnson (5)

Unless Harvick ties in your scenario, i don't see how you can win the title in today's Nascar with out having the most wins overall/in the chase
True. I guess DNF's could be a factor? But then again, Hendrick engines have always been reliable.
Alta wrote:Casey Lester wrote:First-time winners: Brendan Gaughan, Jake Crum
Do you even watch trucks? Gaughan's won numerous times already in trucks back in the early 2000's.
Jake Crum....Really? Guy had one good run at Bristol until a wreck and that was pretty much the last anyone heard of him this season.
Wow... Massive failure on my part. I put a slash through Crum for an obvious reason.
Alta wrote:Casey Lester wrote:Worst race of 2012: 3/4ths of the schedule
Again did you watch trucks this year at all? Trucks were pretty awesome 95% time of the year and if you aren't hyped about this season with the new addition then you're being absolutely stubborn.
What the hell was I thinking when I put that... There were certain races I felt weren't that great, mostly ones with the 18 leading them.
Alta wrote:Casey Lester wrote:Champion: 3 Austin Dillon

I remember you telling me they're only in on daddy's money and are not talented at all. Change of heart?
That's probably the reason why they'll win the title. In NNS, Sadler's out of the 2 and they're making the 21 a 3rd full-time car, so I could see Austin being focused on a bit more. But going back to what you said about RCR's Cup program, I might be wrong.

If Gilliland won, yes; if Mears won, no. He won the Coke 600 in 2007. Those are two examples of drivers that could upset and win. I don't actually think we'll see a first-time winner in 2013 though.

Upset of the year: Junior breaks the 4 year rule by winning again. Sorry guys, 4 year rule still intact
Disappointments: Brad Keselowski (I have the worst feeling Roush is going to screw them), Joey Logano, Kasey Kahne Right on Kez (You can argue my point was right as well) Logano did better then normal surprisingly and Kahne was just there. 1 out of 3 i guess.
Best race of 2012: Watkins Glen If you don't count Dega than yes
Worst race of 2012: Richmond Eh...No. Spring had an interesting finish while fall was riddled with silliness

Most likely to lose ride in the middle of the season: Kurt Busch Nope. Kurt returned to form
Champion: Clint Bowyer Wrong
Runner-up: Matt Kenseth Right on the money

First-time winners: Travis Pastrana, Michael Annett, Brian Scott, Johanna Long Pastrana wrecked all year, Anett broke his back and then was never a factor, Scott got close a couple occasions, and Johanna was no where close
Most wins in a season: Regan Smith If you don't count Cup drivers i'm correct
Upset of the year: Johanna Long stuns the world with a surprising win. Nope. ;____;
Disappointments: Eillott Sadler, Brian Scott Sadler was never a factor but not far down the points where i can say he sucked, Scott was actually better this year
Best race of 2012: Mid-Ohio - Arguably correct. Mid-ohio was kind of a wreckfest...but hey at least i remember it
Worst race of 2012: Indy Was pretty crappy, but there were some worse races....So no
Retirees at season end: None Morgan Shepherd seems to have disappeared
Driver of the year: Regan Smith Summer killed him
Reject of the year: Eillott Sadler Same as above
Most likely to lose ride in the middle of the season: Brian Scott Nope.
Champion: Regan Smith Damn it Regan.
Runner-up: Trevor Bayne Not even close. Bayne was never a factor
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series:
First-time winners: Jeb Burton, Miguel Paludo Got it on Jeb, Paludo was really close at a couple points though
Most wins in a season: Timothy Peters Nope. Peter was no where for the most part
Upset of the year: One-off drivers wins Eldora - Ehhhh....It was won by a non-regular in a haxed up car for a team that's normally 15th
Disappointments: Ron Hornaday, Yup
Best race of 2012: Eldora/Mosport Was there ever any doubt?
Worst race of 2012: Charlotte Sure since i can't remember it
Retirees at season end: Ron Hornaday PLEASE
Driver of the year: Timothy Peters Nope.
Reject of the year: Ron Hornaday Debatable. Coulter was on par with Hornaday's crappiness
Most likely to lose ride in the middle of the season: Brennan Newberry, Ron Hornaday Oh the irony in this is delicious. Hornaday fired cause of Newberry
Champion: Timothy Peters Nope.
Runner-up: Joey Coulter Wow....this turned out to be a terrible choice

Most wins in a season: Brad Keselowski Nope
Upset of the year: Danica Patrick winning a race Running 30th every week is not the sign of winning a race

Disappointments: Elliot Sadler Right on the money
Best race of 2013: Mid-Ohio Right on the money

Champion: Regan Smith Hell nah
Runner-up: Trevor Bayne Again, Hell nah
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series:
First-time winners: Miguel Paludo Almost
Most wins in a season: James Buescher Almost
Upset of the year: Can't think of any Elliot's win at Mosport was there but still
Disappointments: Matt Crafton Way, way, way, way wrong about that
Best race of 2013: Tie between Mosport and Eldora Mosport. Period.
Worst race of 2013: We'll wait and see I don't think any of them were bad
Retirees at season end: None Hornaday please
Driver of the year: Timothy Peters Nope
Reject of the year: John Wes Townley Way, way wrong
Most likely to lose ride in the middle of the season: Any backmarker driver Probably

First-time winners: None Nailed it
Most wins in a season: Jimmie Johnson (9) Who the hell would have thought Matt Kenesth would have won the most races?!?
Upset of the year: NASCAR will hold the yellow, and a restrictor plate race will run green the whole way This is NASCAR we are talking about, why was I talking out of my ass on this one
Dissapointment of the Year: Hendrick will have two subpar performances, Dale Jr. will finish outside the Top 20, Jeff Gordon near the same Oops
Best race of 2013: Bristol Night Watkins Glen was better
Worst race of 2013: Cookie Cutter U Pick 'em Don't they usually produce bad races?!? Though FOX derping at Charlotte sure helped
Retirees at season end: Jeff Burton, Bobby Labonte, Jeff Gordon I have a feeling I will nail it with Labonte at the least
Driver of the year: Jimmie Johnson I'd give it to Kurt Busch for doing what he did with a single car team
Reject of the year: Jeff Gordon I'll give it Brad Keselowski. Can it be 2012 again?!?
Most likely to lose ride in the middle of the season: Kurt Busch. I say he'll lose it before Daytona in July
Champion: Jimmie Johnson Nailed it
Runner-up: Brad Keselowski Oops

Most wins in a season: a Joe Gibbs Driver Matt won more then Jimmie right?
Upset of the year: Almirola Nope, that was Ragan..
Disappointments: Roush Kinda, Mr Ed and Boring Biff both made the chase but had no real impact on it.
Best race of 2012: Dega or surprise Kansas I guess Dega 1 wasn't bad with the #34 and 38 train finishing 1-2
Worst race of 2012: Texas Easiest prediction ever
Retirees at season end: Ken Schrader I wish this wasn't the one I got completely right
Driver of the year: Denny Hamlin Thanks Joey!
