I've seen the crash of the Phillip Yau and it's pretty much a copy of Ashley Cooper's crash at Adelaide. RIP

Very sad. I've driven this track on a simulator game before. It doesn't take much to realize how much of a dangerous track it can be with the high speed sections, tight corners, and the guard rails being factored in. R.I.P. to the 2 drivers involved.

I have seen the touring car crash. Actually, I was suprised with how minor it looked. But everyone said the same thing about the Dale Earnhardt Sr. wreck.

RIP to both of them...

These two driver deaths just show how gruesome the Macau circuit can be. But what if they even had SAFER Barriers around the guardrails on the track?

Is it a concrete wall on the outside of Mandarin bend?

Metal guard rail, all around the circuit except in places where the wall ends, where they place a protective barrier (like in pitlanes of NASCAR) around it.

I would think tire walls would do better than SAFER Barriers

There is a possibility to flip the car over with tyres. There are a few positioned in slower areas of the circuit however.

Yes, because you're gonna put SAFER barriers around the track for 1 week, it's not really worth it. That's why they have concrete walls at mostly every street circuit. It's hard to say what to put if you were going to be safer, but tyres wouldn't work that much better.

Quite frankly, I think they were just freak accidents possibly.

By the end of the Grand Prix, all the barriers disappear. Much like in the Monaco Grand Prix, they are there solely there to avoid cars going into the ocean or driving into a newsagent.
