It has been out for a while, but the main areas highlighted are the new chassis for 2013; the Ford Eco-Boost 200. Basically, the 2012 Ecoboost with a new chassis and 200hp engine. Additionally, they are set to use a Formula 3 sequential.

For Brits, the Formula Ford championship will now be aired during the BTCC live broadcasts on ITV4 (it was at Channel 4 last year) after an agreement with TOCA (touring car association).

they've put wings on a formula ford. Easily the stupidest thing they've ever done. Formula ford with the exception of the Castle Combe series is dead to me.

I agree, it was very disappointing. I hope they keep the Duratec class..

The cars are making more horsepower than last year's models (200 vs. 158). I'll bet that's the reason for the wings...to improve aero and downforce.

Seriously, why put rear wings on Formula Fords? Without the wings, the cars were very nippy to drive and easy to crash but SO much fun to watch though.

The whole point of FF was to have a cheap entrance level single seater that reacted similarly to a kart. I.E. it had little downforce and took a smooth hand to direct the car correctly. This new car throws it all out of the window. The sole positive from the new eco-boost cars is that engines will last a lot longer, therefore less times the engine has to be re-built, therefore slightly cheaper long term. I suppose now 750MC and Formula Jedi are the best entrance formulae in Britain.

Still I prefer the old Formula Ford cars much more than the rear-wing COT (Crap Of Today).

I don't know if it's just me, but the new Formula Fords look like an Atlantic Championship or a Star Mazda Championship car.

A friend of mine is one of the biggest fans of formula ford and I'm yet to hear his reaction, but I bet it won't be good. I heard that the Brands festival failed this year and the only good looking formula ford category in Britain is the Castle Combe series which provides some of the best racing on the planet despite only going to combe. To be honest though, I've always preferred Formula Vee.

There's the Formula Ford 1600 club, which races with the old Kent chassis from the 90s I believe. MSA national class registered.
