Mobil-1 Twin 150 1 race recap/results.
- Spoiler:
- Las Vegas 500 pole winner Steve Stevenson wins the first of the Twin 150's with ease. Only noteworthy incident involved the 87 of Romain Raikkionen. Romain blew the engine on the front straight then crashed into the in-inside wall in turn 1, ending his day and any chances of getting into the 500. The lapped cars of Kyle Shock and Antony Weepers broke up the main pack, leaving Stevenson and Gerald Johnson to fight out the battle for the lead, with Stevenson winning by 0.08 seconds.

Mobil-1 Twin 150 2 race recap/results.
- Spoiler:
- Outside pole sitter for 500, Kelvin Roddick will have to start ROF after blowing his engine late in the 2nd Twin 150. But there will still be a Skullcandy, Inc car on the outside pole as Roddick's teammate Ike Durbin won in a frantic finish. The racing was a lot better than the first 150, as there 35 lead changers between 12 different drivers. Midway through the race Derek Resnek's engine quit on him coming out of turn 4, and repeated Raikkionen's effort and also crashed into the in-inside wall in turn 4, but unlike Raikkionen, Resnek's team was able to repair the damage in pit lane and send him back out on track, albeit 6 laps down. With 2 laps to go the lead pack caught up to Marcos Johnson, Durbin was able to get passed him, but everyone else struggled, giving Durbin a large enough gap that he couldn't be caught by McGregor and Ambrose.

Skullcandy, Inc. has Successful Day, Two in Top Ten
Skullcandy, Inc. had a great week at Las Vegas. Kelvin Roddick locked himself in via the outside pole, and Ike Durbin won the qualifier. Matt Reeves, a superstar in other sports, also showed speed, solidly making it into the field. And during the race, they all showed the speed of the Skullcandy, Inc. cars. They all led at some point in the race, and ended up with two cars in the top ten by the end of the day.
Probably the only let down this weekend was the fact that the team had two engine failures. Kelvin Roddick, who qualified on the outside pole, had an engine let go in his qualifier. Ike Durbin, who won the qualifier and started outside pole, also blew up in the race while running top five. Despite this, Matt Reeves and Kelvin Roddick both scored a top ten, finishing ninth and tenth, respectively.
Driver Statements -
Ike Durbin: Had a great car. Definitely coulda won, but the motor blew.
Kelvin Roddick: That car was a rocket. Can't thank the team enough.
Matt Reeves: Sweet! Top ten!
Twitter Feed:
@SkullcandyInc: Superstar Matt Reeves scores an impressive ninth, Roddick comes from the back to finish tenth, and blows up despite having one of the quickest cars.

Griffin survives scary accident; To miss next 4 races
The Las Vegas 500 saw a couple of incidents today, but the worse was the crash that saw Ken Stevens Jr. T-bone the #5 of Ryan Griffin sending the #5 for a violent series of barrel rolls.
Griffin was initial unresponsive as medical crews worked to free him from the car. Yet, Griffin must of had a field of four-leaf clovers in his pocket because medical staff has reported to the team that he has survived the accident. And was reportedly awake and alert at the hospital upon arrival.
Dr. Nicholas Jones, the doctor in charge of Griffin's care, later disclosed the extent of Griffin's injuries in a statement released to the press. The young Michigan native suffered a broken collar bone, a broken right leg and ankle, 2 broken ribs, a bruised lung, and a concussion.
GLM, the team that Griffin drives for reports that Griffin's cousin Mark Griffin will drive the car in at least the next 4 events.

Ford EcoBoost 175 at Buru Houre Super Speedway Qualifier
Ike Durbin won from the pole after a disappointing Las Vegas 500. He lead the majority of the race and showed he was a threat in the main race. Denny Tyler finished 2nd while Marcos Gordon finished 3rd. Ryan Griffin's replacement/cousin Mark showed no sign of caution after witnessing his cousin's horrific accident, coming home a strong 4th. The only noteworthy incident was Michael Barboza start-and-parking in the 00 car.

Turned right into a stopped car without slowing down under a caution. I can't even think of anything else that would of caused more pain. And why are questioning a suspension on a driver that's not even yours.Casey Lester wrote:Spannerhead29 (Nelson) wrote:Ken Stevens Jr. suspended for the rest of the season

5-Hour Energy 175 Qualifier.
Kim Alayas won the pole over Denny Tyler by 0.328 seconds. Kim was showing great pace until lap 7 when she pulled to the side of the road at turn 7, she got towed to the pits, and the team discovered an electric problem. The 12 team was able to fix it but it wasn't enough for Alayas to advance. On lap 13, Richard Westbrook and Michael Barboza came together in turn 8 and both went into the wall. Barboza was done, while Westbrook was able to continue.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't know what gender Kim, because in Australia Kim is name that can fit both genders. Florida I didn't know, because Florida isn't really name.SnakePlissken wrote:Kim Alayas is a female! So is Florida Orange. Jesse Wales is a dude...

Florida meaning and name origin
Florida \f-lori-da, fl(o)-rida\ as a girl's name is of Latin origin, and the meaning of Florida is "flowery".
Popularity of Florida
Florida is a very popular first name for women (#1628 out of 4276) and also a very popular surname or last name for all people (#27704 out of 88799). (1990 U.S. Census)
But I actually got the name "Florida" from here:
http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0021608/?ref_=tt_cl_t1
And there's a boat engine place in my town owned a family with the surname "Orange". I just merged the 2 together!

Sonoma Qualifying
Jesse Wales becomes for the second pole winner of the year by winning the Aaron's Pole Award with a time of 1:13.371. This ends Steve Stevenson's pole winning streak, Steveson qualified 26th. Jesse joins Steve in the field for the 2014 Inaugural Budweiser Shootout at Las Vegas, one week prior to the Las Vegas 500K. Several drivers had trouble in turn 8, most notably leading points man Dick Phillip, who will start shotgun on the field in 42nd.
But the main news of today, was the announcement that the Office Depot 175 at Daytona, has been scraped, and will be replaced by the "DeWalt Cup Eldora Special". A unique event held at Eldora Speedway in Rosburg, Ohio, will have a special format run, unlike the majority of the season. Instead of a Qualifier race, and the main race, there will be Time Trials, 10 heats, 2 dashes, a C-Main, a B-Main, and a 24 car A-Main.

Neither Matthews Motorsports driver made themselves available for comment after Sonoma, out of fear of being fined for potential expletive-laden remarks.

But, seriously, this is actually a good time to post something Topical.
Eldora Format released
DeWalt Cup officials have decided to use a traditional dirt track format to run the Eldora Special. It will be run over 3 nights. The field will split by owner points, with the odd number positions running night 1 (1, 3, 5, 7, etc), and the even number positions running night 2 (2, 4, 6, 8, etc).
Night 1 and 2 formats
Both nights will start off with time trails, then 2 rounds of 10 lap heats. The first 6 drivers in points after time trails and heats will contest in a 6 lap Dash to determine the first 3 starting rows for the Preliminary A-Main.
Night 3 format
The field will be brought back together, to run one last round of heats, to determine the grids for the C, B, and A-Mains. The first 8 in points will contest in a Pole Shuffle to determine the winner of the Aaron's Pole Award, and the first 4 rows of the A-Main.
