NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Well, it'll probably be Kurt Busch. After all, he won the 2004 championship and has screwed himself out of Penske Racing and a decent ride.

It all depends if there's a good ride open, but the only good ride I see is a potential 3rd Penske car, which might be Sam Hornish Jr.'s at best. Smith doesn't have the best of numbers to show his talent, but then again, who needs talent to get a ride in NASCAR anymore?

Considering what kind of equipment he had to work with, he's actually done a pretty damn good job. I think he'll find a ride somewhere.

I'd imagine Regan will go to a good Nationwide ride. JR Motorsports and Turner come to mind.

Ugh... I really hope he doesn't end up start and parking somewhere...
Give him David Ragan's #34 ride at least.

Oh, boy! Now Kurt Busch can wreck practically another whole fleet of an underfunded team's cars by driving like a pissed-up crackhead!
For God's sake, if you're gonna drop Smith, go get another young driver to hone his skills in that car, like Buescher or someone like that.

He's not that good in any equipment TBH. He doesn't know when to stop pushing his car, and the only way he won Darlington was through pit strategy.Casey Lester wrote:http://aolsvc.sports.aol.nascar.com/news/120921/rsmith-wont-be-back-in-78-car/index.html

Even if it was strategy he held of Edwards who flat out domanited that race and was on fresh tires. He's pulled his weight in a car that should be around 30th and has brought it to top 10 finishes a few times.PRAWBLEMS wrote:He's not that good in any equipment TBH. Kurt Busch (even know i think all the hate he gets is dumb) on the other hand has pretty much driven Finch into the ground with making stupid mistakes and aggressive over-driving. All the work Furniture Row has down could get destroyed in 1 season if they sign Busch.
If Smith doesn't get a decent ride anywhere then that basically confirms that Nascar is about money over merit when it comes to getting rides cause Regan Smith is by far the most underrated driver in Nascar today.

This is more proof that you don't know what you're talking about.
Regan Smith won Darlington ON OLD TIRES. Darlington is one of the tracks that require more driver talent than anything else, and holding off Carl Edwards was just a tad impressive too. He's been way better than that car should be, and he's never had a shot at good equipment, so how do you know he's not that good in any equipment?

I don't like all these drivers who float around trading cars. I think Nascar needs a good refresh of drivers soon to stay relevant anymore. We are running out of driver/team combos!

We're running out of everything. Talent, originality, action, entertainment, fan support, common sense. NASCAR really needs to smarten up, stop screwing with some things, and START screwing with others. Over-commercialization, lack of genuine talent, and general stupidity have been running this organization down the drain since the mid-2000's, and if NASCAR doesn't find a way to get back to something akin it's glory days of the late 80's and 90's, the future could be looking grim.

^This. As soon as you get used to someone being in one car they move to another. Something I found out last night, since Matt Kenseth is moving from RFR to JGR, that leaves Jeff Gordon the only driver who is still in the same car/team from the 2001 Daytona 500. The next oldest driver/team combo is Kevin Harvick/29/RCR.Toblerone wrote:Alta wrote:Yeah. Re: Why, Furniture Row? WHY?
There are a couple of things Nascar needs. New racing facilities! Kentucky, Chicagoland, California, Michigan, Chicagoland, Kansas are all tracks that are more billboard space that race focused. Long, wide and boring. We need more tracks that are 1 or less miles. And one or two road courses wouldnt hurt. Also stop messing with the damn car! the COT ruined racing for the past 5 years. Safety is a plus, but when your are going to force a car to be aerodynamically slower. The racing suffers big time and thats one thing Nascar hasnt figured out. Nascar blams the economy for fans not showing up to races,. When nascar cant even see their own faults asan issue. Why spend 4 hours at a track to get sunburned and watch nothing happen. When you can stay at home and flip to the next channel.
But back on topic. I hope Regan gets a good ride somewhere, he deserves it. Personally I think this will be a gain for both Busch and Furniture Row. But only time will tell whether their investment was a good one.

That's why the implementation of the "go for only one championship" rule is so smart. It makes Cup drivers focus on Cup, so talent can begin to develop in Nationwide and Trucks. Sure, there are some who will never make it to the highest level in a million years, but still, at least we can see somewhat of a future for Cup.

Re: Why, Furniture Row? WHY?
There are several underlying problems with NASCAR that seem to be dragging it down:
1: The governing body making stupid decisions (The Chase, Wild Cards, re-seeding, etc.) and turning NASCAR into WWE on wheels.
2: Cup drivers destroying the lower tiers and making it nearly impossible for young talents to move up to the top division, and potentially ruining their careers.
3: A dreadfully boring schedule. Cookie cutters like California, Kentucky, Kansas, Michigan and Texas aren't gonna bring in that much profit wise.
Like Sparkz said, NASCAR really needs to shape up and become a better series, otherwise the future could look very bleak.

Well Regan Smith is getting completely screwed. He moved to Denver, Colorado where the team is located and he doesn't even get to finish the season with them. He got them their first win as well. I believe Busch has already refused to move to Denver. Joe Garone & Barney Visser are super Christian. Can't wait to see how they react to him dropping the F bomb at Charlotte...
