"Sources say there has been tension within the team since Hornaday crashed with teammate Brennan Newberry -- son of the team owner -- at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last month."

Hornaday went from hero to zero very fast. It wasn't that long ago that he was winning race after race and now it appears his carer has come to an end. This may have had something to do with funding ad well.

Allgaier and Addington to team up in 2014? hearing the Justin Allgaier will move up to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series to run full time in the #51 Chevy owned by Harry Scott and run for 2014 Rookie of the Year. Been told that Steve Addington will move from the #14 Stewart Haas Racing team and be Allgaier's crew chief. Current #1 crew chief, Kevin Manion will likely move from Earnhardt Ganassi Racing to be the Competition Director at Turner Scott Motorsports.(11-11-2013)

Re: The Jayski Copypasta Thread
A couple NASCAR related stories from The Pit Lane, which is basically the ARCA version of Jayski.
Josh Williams expected to drive for Gallagher Motorsports in 2014: Josh Williams is expected to drive for Gallagher Motorsports next season, possibly replacing Spencer Gallagher in the No. 23 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet. Williams competed for the team in several races last season and is rumored to replace Gallagher if he moves to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series full time. (11-07-13)
Peterson Motorsports considering leaving ARCA?: Peterson Motorsports may be considering leaving ARCA competition for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. The team was not allowed to run the full race at Kansas Speedway after both of its cars failed pre-race technical inspection. Team owner Wayne Peterson is considering moving his team to NASCAR Trucks, where he fielded an entry in at least one event last year. (11-07-13)

CORNELIUS, N.C. (November 15, 2013) - Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) has signed driver Michael Annett and partnered with Pilot Flying J for the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Annett, whose NASCAR career began at Bill Davis Racing under the tutelage of Baldwin, reunites with his mentor after five seasons of competing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
Baldwin will continue as the No. 7 team's crew chief next season. TBR will field a fleet of Richard Childress Racing cars and utilize Earnhardt-Childress Racing engines.
Tommy Baldwin and Michael Annett will participate in a media availability today, outside the No. 7 Tommy Baldwin Racing team hauler at 5:30 pm Eastern.
OF INTEREST:
Saturday's Nationwide Series finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway marks the 163rd race for Annett in the series. He earned a fifth-place finish in the 2012 point standings.
Of his eight NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts, Annett competed in seven under the eye of Baldwin, then a Sprint Cup Series crew chief at Bill Davis Racing. Annett finished sixth in his debut race at The Milwaukee Mile and finished a career-best second at Kentucky Speedway.
Annett has two ARCA Series victories to his credit - at Talladega Superspeedway in 2007 and Daytona International Speedway in 2008.
QUOTES:
Tommy Baldwin, Owner, Tommy Baldwin Racing
"To have Michael on board for next year, and to have a great partner like Pilot Flying J, is big for our team. Since we went Cup racing about five years ago, we've grown and gotten better with each passing season. This is the next logical step, and I believe there's a lot of potential for Michael to come in and do good things in our racecars."
Michael Annett, Driver, No. 7 Pilot Flying J Chevrolet SS
"Driving in the Cup Series has been my goal ever since I started racing, and to start this next chapter with Tommy, who is one of the main reasons I made the move to North Carolina in the first place, makes this extra special. I'm looking forward to continuing what we started - winning two races in the ARCA Series and running well in Trucks. Pilot Flying J has been with me just as long, they have been a tremendous partner and I'm honored to represent them on the sport's biggest stage."
Laura Palenkas, Vice President of Marketing and Merchandising, Pilot Flying J
"As a long-standing and proud sponsor of Michael Annett, Pilot Flying J is thrilled that he is moving to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Our partnership with Michael began more than six years ago and we have watched him grow into the successful driver he is today. We are so proud and excited to see him take the next step in his career. Daytona is just around the corner and we can't wait to watch him pull ahead this season."

Even though it's TBR, and even though it's because of sponsor money, I'm really excited for Annett to make his Cup debut. This will most likely put Corey Lajoie in the #43 full-time in the Nationwide series, with Ryan Truex part-time in the #9.

So will this effectively end Dave Blaney's career now? Only place I could imagine he would end up is the #98 car for Parsons, which will now most likely be an full S&P car since McDowell is taking his minimal sponsor money over to Leavine Family Racing.

Re: The Jayski Copypasta Thread
So here's a big stack of stuff that was announced in the last couple days.
A lot of teams have announced crew chief changes for next year. Jamie McMurray is going to have Keith Rodden to top of his box next year as Kevin Manion moves on. Rodden has worked for various teams over the last ten year.
Stewart Haas Racing announced some shake ups in their team. Greg Zippadelli is now the SHR's VP of competition, while Matt Borland is the new VP of engineering. In addition, crew chiefs for the team's four drivers announced, with Tony Gibson being the only one to remain in his role from last season as Danica Patrick's crew chief. The team welcome experienced crew chiefs Chad Johnston and Rodney Childers, who are both coming from Michael Waltrip Racing. Johnston will be Tony Stewart's crew chief, Childers will call the shots for Kevin Harvick. As for Kurt Busch's crew chief, SHR will promote team engineer Daniel Knost to a crew chief in 2014.
Another team making announcements for next year was Roush Fenway Racing. Everything will remain the same for Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle, however Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will get a new crew chief. Mike Kelley, who helped guide Stenhouse to his two Nationwide Series championships, will be Stenhouse's new Cup Series crew chief. Scott Graves, Stenhouse's former crew chief, will move to the Nationwide Series to be Chris Buescher's crew chief next season. As for Kelley's replacement, that spot will be taken by Chad Norris, who has been in NASCAR for a while. Finally, Seth Barbour, who was the crew chief for RFR's part time #16 car in the Nationwide Series, will become Ryan Reed's full time crew chief in the #16.
Some other notes:
Kyle Larson's Nationwide crew chief Trent Owens will be on probation for the next four months, because Larson's #32 was found to have been the wrong height in the front end. Owens also received a $10,000 fine, while Larson and the #32 team got a six point penalty. The point penalty did not affect either party's points position.
The Nationwide and Truck Series banquet took place yesterday. NASCAR honored each series' drivers and owners champions, as well as second through fifth in the drivers standings. Afterwards, the Most Popular Driver awards were handed out to Regan Smith for the Nationwide Series, and Ty Dillon for the Truck Series.
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series crew member Curtis Martin Jr. has been suspended indefinitely by NASCAR for violating the substance abuse policy. The violation was found on a random test on November 12.

Jeff Burton is going to the MWR #66:
Jayski wrote:Jeff Burton to test and drive limited schedule for MWR: Michael Waltrip Racing announced it has contracted Jeff Burton to test and drive in a select number of races during the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup season in the #66 Toyota Camry. Burton, a 21-time winner in the Sprint Cup Series begins testing for MWR Dec. 9 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The first scheduled NASCAR Sprint Cup race for Burton will be the March 9 race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In the upcoming weeks, MWR will announce any other events added to Burton's schedule. MWR will field the #15 5-hour ENERGY Toyota Camry with driver Clint Bowyer and the #55 Aaron's Dream Machine Toyota Camry with driver Brian Vickers in 2014. Burton will test for Vickers until late January when Vickers returns from medical leave. Team Co-Owner Rob Kauffman said Burton will help MWR both on and off the track. "Michael Waltrip Racing has two teams and drivers racing for the NASCAR Sprint Cup championship in 2014 and our third team will play a very important role in that pursuit," said Kauffman. "We were extremely fortunate to have a driver as experienced and respected as Jeff Burton come available. He will be able to have an immediate impact as we continue to strive for that last one percent that separates champions from contenders." Michael Waltrip will drive the #66 in the Daytona 500 on Feb. 23 as he seeks his third victory in the sport's most prestigious event.(12-2-2013)

That doesn't sound bad so long as they retain Dallenbach. Rick Allen is nothing special but I don't dislike him as a commentator. If they could grab Bestwick after 2016 it'd be great.Alta wrote:Jeff Burton has been confirmed to be an analyst in the NBC booth in 2015.

Some news just came out of Richard Petty Motorsports only a couple minutes ago, that Dakoda Armstrong will take over the #43 in the NASCAR Nationwide Series replacing Michael Annett, who is moving to Cup next year.
EDIT: Another announcement just came out that Josh Wise will drive the #98 for Phil Parsons Racing next year. In addition, the team will make a switch to Chevy. No idea whose engines will be in the car though.

And it's confirmed. Rick Allen will be the lead commentator for NBC in 2015.
NBC Sports announced another key component to its NASCAR Sprint Cup Series coverage team Wednesday, signing longtime play-by-play man Rick Allen to a multiyear agreement as the lead announcer for its talent lineup in 2015. - Nascar

So I guess this means that Mike Joy will be covering the truck races in 2015, unless NASCAR decides to have their truck races broadcasted by someone else. I thought that the ESPN guys will move over to NBC, tbh.Alta wrote:And it's confirmed. Rick Allen will be the lead commentator for NBC in 2015.

The current 2014 NSCS Rookie Class as of now:flyingturns89 wrote:Swan Racing will have expand to two cars next year, with 2014 Cup rookies Parker Kligerman and Cole Whitt driving. The team is also moving into a new 25,000 square foot shop that team owner Brandon Davis says will allow them to expand further if necessary.
-Austin Dillon
-Kyle Larson
-Justin Allgaier
-Michael Annett
-Cole Whitt
-Parker Kligerman
This is, BY FAR, the best rookie class we have seen in the NSCS in a LONG time, and I think that's saying something. It should be interesting to see how all of this plays out.

And unless he gets a new deal at FOX, that includes replacing Mike Joy when Joy calls it quits, Allen Bestwick's career as a lead Sprint Cup Series announcer is pretty much over. Adam Alexander *shudders* is probably Joy's heir apparent at FOX.Alta wrote:And it's confirmed. Rick Allen will be the lead commentator for NBC in 2015.

As for Allen, I have no problems with him personally, and I appreciate him trying to make things exciting to keep viewers drawn in, but he tends to oversell a lot of normally mundane occurrences on the track.
It'll probably be *shudders* Alexander.RealRacer4 wrote:So I guess this means that Mike Joy will be covering the truck races in 2015, unless NASCAR decides to have their truck races broadcasted by someone else. I thought that the ESPN guys will move over to NBC, tbh.

Re: The Jayski Copypasta Thread
Allen in my eyes is a pretty good commentator. Keeps it exciting and fun.
Anyone see them trying to take a risk with Krista Voda as lead commentator? I know way out there but....it would be an interesting move if Nascar's looking to shake things up for 2015.
The 3rd guy in the booth is apparently an active Sprint Cup crew chief...This is my own guess but.....Does anyone think the Knaus-Jimme bromance is entering it's final chapter? ;P

My guess would be some backmarker crew chief...

Knaus is someone the fans would know....and SUPPOSEDLY his contract is up end of next year.Lucstar88 wrote:Not a chance Jimmie & Chad get separated...Alta wrote:Allen in my eyes is a pretty good commentator. Keeps it exciting and fun.

Maybe, but I think Knaus would want to stick around until Jimmie takes at least another title.Alta wrote:Knaus is someone the fans would know....and SUPPOSEDLY his contract is up end of next year.Lucstar88 wrote:Not a chance Jimmie & Chad get separated...Alta wrote:Allen in my eyes is a pretty good commentator. I like Swan Racing. They are one of the few teams that has reached out to young drivers with talent but without money. If they retain both for a significant period and allow them to flourish they will do great things.

True, but rookies + fairly new team that just expanded to two cars = doesn't end well, at least in my opinionAlpineopossum wrote:I like Swan Racing. Re: The Jayski Copypasta Thread
2015 Trucks commentator should be 4-time World Champion Peter Short
I believe Knaus has done colour commentary before, but I don't see him quitting from his day job anytime soon.
Voda would be interesting, but I'd like to see Ray Dunlap commentate, although now I that I remember, Dave Burns sucked when he commentated, so maybe Ray should stick to pitlane.Alta wrote:Anyone see them trying to take a risk with Krista Voda as lead commentator? Chase Elliott pulled off the Snowball Derby victory today, winning the race by about two seconds over runner up Erik Jones. Elliott won yesterday's warmup race, the Snowflake 100, and started from the pole today.

This was apparently what was found in Elliott's car.

What the fuck is that, some sort of from. Usually you'd get DQ for illegal fuel or extra horsepower, but for what looks like a safety feature, bit weird to get DQ for that.
