No surprised about Danica.

Piquet winning truck popular driver makes me smile, If he can stay consistent next year he is a championship front runner.

I actually voted for Johanna Long to be the most popular drivers in the Nationwide Series, but at the same time I voted for Piquet Jr. Too for the Trucks so congrats to him.

Sounds like Gibbs will be Kyle Busch, Elliott Sadler, and Brian Vickers. This likely means that Kyle Busch Motorsports is closing.
Many of the open cars will be filled by people with cash: Malsam, Blatent-sh*t (Blakenship), Hill, Plastic Twins (Angela and Amber Cope) etc.
Not sure if Bowles will be back
JGR has supposedly ended it's development program, and Brian Scott, Ryan Truex, and Darrel Wallace are looking for a ride.
Not sure if Logano will end up in a third Penske nationwide car
The status of the #2 is questionable
UPDATE: One Main Financial went with Sadler, so it sounds like we won't see the 2 team on the grid in 2013

A few things with the provisional team charts:

Cup -
Austin Dillon will be in the 33 at Daytona next year.
It's already been announced the same drivers will be in the 55 next year.
Danica's car will be a SHR car. If Baldwin runs 2 cars, I would guess 35 and 36.

Nationwide -
Blakenship drives for TBR, not Tri-Star. They were just using Tri-Star points.
Pastrana and Bayne are both running full time next year.

I would assume that the #2 team is done then, with no sponsorship for 2013. JGR is totally different in Nationwide: Logano, Wallace Jr, and Scott are all gone.

JGR has supposedly ended it's development program, and Brian Scott, Ryan Truex, and Darrel Wallace are looking for a ride.

well they shouldn't be to hard pressed to find anything, and Driver Development programs ruined NASCAR NWS anyways so I am glad to see those things finally dieing off.

Yeah, they'll probably find a ride pretty quickly. Unfortunately it will probably be with some mediocre team. I'm hoping I'll end up being wrong.

Jeb Burton to Turner Motorsports: Turner Motorsports has announced the signing of Halifax, Virginia native Jeb Burton. Burton has signed a two-year contract with Turner Motorsports to run a full-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule and a limited NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule in 2013 and 2014. Burton, who made his first Truck Series start at Martinsville Speedway this past March, has a total of five starts in the NCWTS. In those five starts, Burton has recorded one top-10 finish. More information for Burton will be released in the near future.(Turner Motorsports)(11-21-2012)

And Brian Scott might be going to RCR and John Wes Townley could be driving for Red Horse Racing next year.

NASCAR annouces lower minimum age for trucks: During the annual "state of the sport" address at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Steve O'Donnell, Vice President of Racing Operations, made the following statement as he announced that the minimum age requirement for the Camping World Truck Series would be lowered from 18 to 16. "One of the things I think that was evident to everybody was the influx of young talent that we've got coming up through the ranks," said O'Donnell. "We announced previously an age limit change in the tours where we went to 15, and based on the opportunities for a lot of young drivers out there that are coming up through our system faster and faster, you're seeing it in the tours, you're seeing it in our Drive for Diversity program. We're going to move the age restrictions that currently exists for the trucks from 18 down to 16, and that rule will be in place for road courses and any tracks 1.1 mile or less."(NASCAR IMC)(11-18-2012)

Imo.. this should be interesting

I thought it used to be 16 until they changed it to 18.

It was. NASCAR changed it to 18 as a requirement of the tobacco settlement (or to screw over Kyle Busch/Jack Roush, depending on your point of view).

Kyle has a very short term memory. Neutral

Wasn't Coulter the driver Kyle was complaining to Richard about when he got beat up in 2011?

Bodine out at Red Horse Racing? Two-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Todd Bodine appears to be out of a ride at Red Horse Racing. Multiple sources say the team laid-off a number of employees today, with plans to field only two full-time Truck Series Toyotas next season. Bodine, the 2006 and 2010 NCWTS champion, finished 14th in the 2012 championship standings with one win -- at Dover on June 1 -- along with five Top-5 and seven Top-10 finishes. He appears to be the odd-man-out at Red Horse Racing, with his #11 machine set to be parked due to a lack of sponsorship. Peters, who finished second behind champion James Buescher, and John Wes Townley, who brings sponsorship from the family-owned Zaxby's fast food chain, will drive the team's #17 and 7 Toyotas in 2013. Calls to both Bodine and Red Horse Racing seeking comment were not immediately returned.

Buescher could move to Nationwide full time:

James Buescher knows if he wants to go Cup racing, he needs more seasons like 2012. The truck championship silenced many doubters who watched him struggle with other teams in 2009 and 2010. He rebounded to finish third in truck points in 2011, setting up the 2012 championship season. His five wins and 10 top-fives in 22 truck events combined with eight top-10s and a win in 20 Nationwide events shows that he is steadily progressing. As far as next year, he knows he'll still drive for [Turner Motorsports]. He just hasn't been told what series he will run in just yet. "I know I'll be in a series full time and be in competitive equipment and in position to win races so I'm not too concerned to know what I'm doing next year," Buescher said. "I'm good with either one. It would be cool to try to go for back-to-back championships but if I get the opportunity to go Nationwide racing, it would be cool to compete for more Nationwide wins and see if we can get a Nationwide championship

More new 2013 car info: The 2013 season will mark the introduction of the 'Gen-6' NASCAR racecar. At the heart of the new car is a desire to see more competitive racing by cars that closely resemble their showroom counterparts. Here are some of the key changes that fans will notice:
1) Distinct body lines that match street vehicles Obviously.
2) The "greenhouse" area is the same on every car Basically, the window shapes and sizes will be different but the entire surface area of the roof, decklid, and windshields will remain the same, which I think is fair.
3) Longer nose and shorter tail to mimic street cars Not really bothered by it at all.
4) Carbon fiber hood and decklid I find this to be rather interesting.
5) New decals on windshield and roof We already knew that.
