Re: Pure Michigan 400 - Sprint Cup Series
if the last race at Michigan is any considering, maybe Dale Jr could sweep at the track or Denny Hamlin's car will light ablaze.

I would love 2 see that, or Jimmie Johnson losing the points lead 2 JR

Technically i think Mark choose to run part-time.Spannerhead29 (Nelson) wrote:>Can only get part-time ride.

It's quite funny how he was terrible with the top team in the sports and he's bad fast with a team that has the name Waltrip in it.

He has a lot of work to do now, and I know I'm a Dale Jr fan but his past few races haven't been the best, i hope starting last hopefully won't be his loss and a gain for his rivals.

Hers something that just popped into my mind, does anyone know if any driver has won Sprint Cup race before all the way from starting dead last on the grid?

Mind you there have been some races this year where he hasn't qualified too well, but consistency and staying out of trouble has lead hon to his long streak of laps completed this year. Maybe he can pull something off in tomorrow's race.

Re: Pure Michigan 400 - Sprint Cup Series
Four drivers can clinch a spot in the Chase today, but it most likely will not happen.
#48 Jimmie Johnson - Must gain more than 20 points on 11th place.
#16 Greg Biffle - Must gain more than 21 points on 11th place.
#17 Matt Kenseth - Must gain more than 22 points on 11th place.
#88 Dale Earnhardt Jr. - Must gain more than 37 points on 11th place.
In other words, if 11th in points Kasey Kahne finishes in the top 15, no one will clinch. Also, no driver can clinch at least a wildcard yet.

I believe he had an engine change. In note, Kurt Busch nearly won the 2008 event from starting last, so I wouldn't doubt anything for the race at the moment.

He may not have been the most competitive driver out there, but he's doing the best he can with the equipment he's given. And you can't argue with the fact that he's one of the most consistent racers in the business. Bobby has the talent to win races, he just can't catch a break.

Any Joe Blow with adequate (if that) talent, and a decent car can win a restrictor plate race.

Ambrose did better in the 47 than Labonte has done or will. Labonte fell from grace right after his championship, hasn't even been relevant since. The JTG team could put a young guy like Allgaier in the 47 to get him valuable Cup experience.

Yeah, and he did absolutely nothing in 2005 while his teammate was out winning the title and Denny Hamlin was outperforming him from the start.

Don't forget if the 600 was 10 feet shorter he would've won that race in 2005. Bobby doesn't need to retire he need better equipment. Martin's lucky he got the equipment he got otherwise he might in Bobby's shoes.

Well when he took over the 11 car from Jason Leffler, Joe Gibbs needed a new talent and I don't think Leffler had what it took for him to race at the Sprint Cup level.
Re: Pure Michigan 400 - Sprint Cup Series
Here's what I'm seeing. Labonte has done nothing wrong for years, has run respectfully in the equipment he's been given, and has been an overall class act. Then he cuts an oil line at Watkins Glen and suddenly he's the Dick Dastardly of NASCAR.

Granted, Watkins Glen wasn't his fault, but today was, and if Mark's door was 2 feet closer to the wall, things could've gotten bad. I like Bobby, but sometimes you have to face facts and realize that he hasn't won a race in 8 years, and is getting up there in age. Same for Jeff Burton.
