Re: Race 11: TM Lights @ Quincy
- Spoiler:
- GLM owner pleased with Taylor's run despite mechanical failure; Wants to resign Durbin
The TM Lights round of Quincy was anything but clean. 14 caution flags and wrecked race cars were the story of the day. For GLM, it was the tail of two stories. First, Ike Durbin, who entered the race 2nd in the championship standing 40 pts back of Troy Adams, the day ended early as he crashed into the back of a wrecked Jamie Davison. As a result, Durbin now sits 70 points back of Adams with 6 races to go.
More, however, did state that he wants and hopes Durbin will return to the team for the 2013 Lights season. "Ike has done what few drivers have been able to do this year. Despite mechanical failures and getting caught up in other peoples messes he's been able to improve as the year has gone on. That's why I would like Ike to resign with us next season."
But the bigger story for GLM was their other car the #18. After Ryan Griffin, the regular driver of the car, was suspended for this race, More brought in 2004 TMMCS champion, Matt Taylor. Taylor's day started out good qualifying 2nd, but he didn't make a lot of noise eventually falling out do to a fire caused by a loose oil line. Despite that More had good things to say about Taylor.
"I'm glad we were able to get Matt to run for us this weekend. The feedback he gave us and the crew really helped us tune that car. It's a shame he had the issue he did. But, if we ever need a relief or backup driver again, you can bet Matt will be the first one I call."

- Spoiler:
- Matthews: "I'm embarrassed", Lights future in question
Tiffany Matthews' Round of Quincy didn't last long.
She was collected in the Lap 8 incident involving Alli Culotta and Roger Kendall, as replays clearly showed she failed to slow down or even avoid the No. 2 car of Kendall.
Matthews spoke briefly after returning to the garage area, clearly upset at herself for her failure to avoid the accident.
"I'm so embarrassed I can't talk," she said. "I can't believe I did that."
Before she could say any more, team owner Ryan Matthews shuffled her back into the team hauler.
"She's done talking for now," he said. "Tiffany feels horribly for what happened out there with Culotta, Kendall, and Blackwell. I'm going to apologize personally to all three of them on her behalf. Right now I think it's better if she lays low. We'll have more to say later on this week."
With that, Matthews turned and went back inside.
Tiffany is not scheduled to be in the 16 car at Road America due to her ARLA commitments. Whether or not she returns to the car is very much up in the air.

Actually, the LWT cars probably were the two Indestructible Pinballs because they both kept getting punted by everyone and they only lost 5 laps to Hayes's 9.

Well, I know my car's sponsored by Subway, but I think Zach took it way too literal in this race.

Ferguson takes out frustrations on Morris
After Nathan Ferguson falls into another crash not being his fault, he was very snappy about the big wreck that was started by Brian Morris going 5 wide off of turn 2. Ferguson went to Brian Morris after Morris got out of the hauler. No one else knew what happened but Ferguson said "he just went to talk to him".
Ferguson stays in 7th position, unfortunately what might ruin a chance to take the TM Lights title which had a massive spotlight over it after a few races into the season.

Lang Chong Kun Victorious at Quincy
After a season of ups and downs for the Altamont Autosport team Lang Chong Kun brought home his 1st career TM Lights victory and the young Chinese driver couldn't be happier. "It's unbelievable, The team did absolutely wonderful today and gave me a car that we could run up front with. We've had decent cars all year but just had some bad luck get in our way but we finally had all the stars align and were able to pull this off."
The win moved Kun to 9th in TM Lights points.

Matthews' future no longer in doubt: She's out
In a stunning announcement, Matthews Motorsports boss Ryan Matthews ended wife Tiffany's tenure in the team's No. 16 Bolden after yet another disastrous run in the Round of Quincy.
Tiffany Matthews had only one top-10 finish in her 11 races in the TM Lights Series, including a pole at Peoria. But with this, her league-high sixth DNF of the season, Ryan Matthews decided to pull the plug.
"I've had it, to be honest," he said. "She knows I've been unhappy with her efforts here recently. And I'm tired of fixing wrecked race cars, whether it's her fault or not. So we - well, I, actually - decided it would be in her best interests to concentrate solely on her ARLA career for now."
Former Lenard Development Team driver Brooke Ingwersen will take over the car for the balance of the 2012 season.
