Promoter's Option to be Added in 2013 Empty Promoter's Option to be Added in 2013

There will be an extra car on the grid for all of the regular races in he 2013 season. The extra car, called the Promoter's Option, will be selected by the race's promoter, and thus can change for every race. The Promoter's Option can be given to the third car for a full-time team or a one-off entrant with a local driver. It could also be given to an Independent's Trophy car, but the car would not be given Independent points for the race.

After announcing his full-time retirement, Alan Hodges was believed to be working on a way to put himself on the grid for his home race, the Round of Wales, in his familiar #13. The Promoter's Option would allow Hodges to enter a third car and participate in front of his home crowd.

TM Master Cup series supremo Terry Schoffner confirmed that if the Promoter's Option existed starting with this race, that it would have been awarded to Hodges.

"I saw a lot of people wanting him [Hodges] back when I came to the track, and I think he wanted to be back for this race." Schoffner said.
"It gives the chance for local and national heroes to step into these cars for one race and take on the best in the world. It also gives a sponsor a chance to jump on board for one race to get their name out to a local crowd. Everyone wins."

The possibility for the Promoter's Option to be used in the 2012 season is open, however the earliest it could be introduced is late in the season.

Terra International Motorsports would attempt to have a promotion driver in 2013, if allowed by officials.

"Look, this idea sounds great." Gerald Lamb, the owner of the team wrote on the site, "We [the team], and our supplier [Lycoia Motors] believe that this would be an ample opportunity to show the world that Lycoia is one of the best manufacturers in the world. There are many locations that Lycoia hasn't even been heard of yet." He is referring to the Asian countries, mainly along the Pacific Rim. "I'm sure that if we have another round in Japan, Sakura [Motoko] would love to go and race in front of her home crowd."

Woodard would give a similar opinion, believing it would bring in more supporters. "If we can't get a race in Japan, there are plenty of opportunities to show what the team and Lycoia has to show."
