2012 ASCC Silly Season Thread + Other Stuff
You are more than encouraged to post your own rumors, even if they have absolutely no factual basis! Remember, if I don't know you have a driver that wants in, they won't get in! The ASCC minimum driver age is 18. Drivers who are U.S. military veterans will carry a special decal, but I don't expect too many of those, so don't worry about it. I would prefer American drivers only, since every single race will be in the United States.
This is a good category for some of the 'good ol' boys'. Signups for this series will be similar to TM Lights, but I haven't opened them yet.
If you can't paint cars, don't worry about it. I'm expecting very little for the car paints themselves. If you're new to painting, want a car design in an offline league, but feel intimidated by the TMMC/ARLA/Dash Cup templates, this is for you. Besides, you'll probably have several months to get it right.
The mod that will be used is the SRD Nationwide mod.
There may be part time cars, but I want to make this series as headache-free as possible. I also am open to experimenting with start and park cars as well.
The only race I know of for sure is the Texas 500 mile race, which will more than likely be at Texas Motor Speedway.
The points system is TBD, but I kind of want to give the current NASCAR points system a shot.
I'm open to a playoff system of some kind. I don't know how many races there will be, probably not a huge number. Blake (Camphausen) offered to run a bunch of the races (YAY!!!).
Stacked ratings of some kind will probably be used, but it probably will be different to what TMMC has. I recall PYLrulz saying at one time that the bigger and stronger teams should have more cars than the others, but it won't be a huge bonus (even if it was, the effect of a huge ratings bonus can be negated with the right papy_ai.ini settings).
--- END OOC STUFF--
The following teams are known to be competing and are assisting in the development with the new ASCC cars, along with their manufacturer alignment. There are three manufacturers, Saar, Lenard, and Bolden. The ASCC season will start in early summer, due to rigorous testing with the new ASCC cars and securing broadcast rights/race dates.
Some star names of the past and star names of the future are preparing to enter the series, with both the driver lineups and the team lineups. The ASCC will be ensuring that the cars are low-cost and that the racing is close and competitive. It will allow short track superstars to mix it up with some of the biggest names in racing... once the series kicks off later in the year.
(OOC: It may not be possible for a driver to compete full-time in the ASCC and another series at the same time. It will probably be possible for a driver to run ASCC full-time and another series part-time, however.)

I will be making a video for any and all races I run, and to be honest, if no one minds, I'd like to run them all (unless of course Cynon would prefer to have someone else run the races. It is his series after all.)

Re: 2012 ASCC Silly Season Thread + Other Stuff
I'd like to sign up for the ASCC, mostly cause 1.) It's TM Canon, and 2.) I really like the SRD Nationwide Mod.
May sign up a serious, competative team, and a SnP

I support the playoffs part if it's a winner take all, top 20 in points only, 500 lap race at Bowman Gray Stadium.

That track is horrific in nr2003. And Cynon said the series will be "easy to cover." 50 yellows in a single race is no easy to cover.flyingturns89 wrote:Ceej wrote:Playoffs and artificial cautions are a must

Is there a car limit/team?
PSI may branch (secretly) out and use a pseudonym so that Jim Kidd, Billy Bob Childers, Pete Maverick, Piere Eiffel, Hunter Downs, and the like could compete in the ASCC.
Team Name: Power Surge America
#00 ?
#14 ?
#16 Billy Bod Childers
#18 Jim Kidd

Re: 2012 ASCC Silly Season Thread + Other Stuff
Oh shoot, I was hoping to use 16, I'll switch to another number then.
Bolson-Hobbes Racing to field two cars in the ASCC?
Two drivers have been selected to drive two Lenards in the upcoming ASCC season for an attempt at a full time season, the two drivers will be Terry Bolson of Lansing Michigan, and Calvan Hobbes of Evansville Indiana.
Each driver will use the same scheme, however, the colors will match their primary sponsors, which GameStop and Nikon both have agreed to sponsor the two drivers.
Bolson-Hobbes Racing, Lenard Cheyenne R20 (2 cars)
#41 - Terry Bolson, GameStop, 38, (Michigan)
#96 - Calvan Hobbes, Nikon, 32, (Indiana)

Eichholtz Autosport to Enter ASCC?
Saar Motor Company and Eichholtz Autosport reached a deal to possibly field two drivers in the 2012 ASCC season. EAS officials seem to be excited, although insiders say that the team is fielding two cars to fund Jacob Eichholtz's Independent's Trophy entry. This has not been confirmed, however. Both cars would run the full race.

Olenick "Unsure" of Status, May Attempt ASCC with ChargerTec
ChargerTec Racing has reportedly looked into the ASCC as an avenue for racing. When approached, team CFO Tom Bennett stated that "anything is possible".
"What we need is a series to race in, pure and simple. We have the money and a couple of sponsors lined up, so all we need now is a series to run."
The team reportedly would run with Bolden cars, and they are pursuing the series with the intent to run the full season.
When approached for comment, Olenick stated that "With all the rumors surrounding the VSCC or RROL, or...whatever it is...now might be a good time to get involved with a new team and league. Ideally, I'd like to race here and run my team in what becomes of the VSCC. Besides, I have a few more plans in the meantime, but we'll wait and see before I tell you about that."
Olenick will run sponsorship from Modern Apizza. His teammate, Carl Sarris, will be sponsored by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Jenorson Motorsports to go to the ASCC?
Stock Car developmental team Jenorson Motorsports are saying that are looking at running full-time in the ASCC in 2012. They have already announced their model make that they are going to use, the Saar Carolina, but they are unsure about the sponsor they will have. For their driver, the owner of the team Chad Richards has linked 22 year-old California native Damian Watkins to drive their first car, and the team is also thinking about bringing a second car in as well.

Steel City Motorsports interested in ASCC
After signing up for a TM Master Cup event, SCM hit a rough patch and driver Tim Averell was unable to get a chance to qualify. However, with the ASCC, they are looking to race and win, along with new found teammate, Pike Patton.

Ike Durbin Inc. and Great Lakes Motorsports to combine ASCC efforts?
Rumors are going around that IDR and GLM could run a joint effort in the ASCC, as they had planned to do in the VSCC. Nothing has been confirmed, but sources inside IDR have.strongly supported this rumor.

GLM owner Jim More responds to IDR and GLM possible ASCC entry
With the rumor that IDR, Ike Durin's VSCC team, and GLM could enter a combined ASCC effort going around, the story was bound to reach one of the main players. This evening Jim More released this statement from the team's race offices.
"The rumors are true. Because of the VSCC issues, Ike [Durbin] and myself have been in talks about combining our entry into one team to run in the VSCC. At this point I believe we will have two cars with the possibility of adding a 3rd, but we are still talking that out. As for any other entries in other series, that would have to be determined at a later time."

MRD Motorsports Exploring ASCC Possibilities, Claim They Have Sponsorship Already in Place
MRD Motorsports announced that they are seriously looking into a single-car entry into ASCC. They have already secured sponsorship and are now actively looking for a driver, for which they will hold open tryouts. Hopefully this time, unlike their attempt at open tryouts for their TM Lights drive, which ended up getting rained out, the weather will cooperate.
"Of course, we would like a driver who knows how to win races, but the door is open to just about anyone as long as they have some talent. Drivers who have sponsors themselves will not get any preferential treatment, as we have already secured full sponsorship from the folks at Joe Tree & Lawn Care" An MRD representative said on the condition of anonymity.

Re: 2012 ASCC Silly Season Thread + Other Stuff
(OOC: I'd like to see some new teams I haven't heard of before! )
Team Saar USA on Verge of Big Announcement?
Team Saar USA is reportedly on the verge of announcing its two other drivers for the 2012 ASCC season. Amid reports that Kevin Dwyer and Blake Camphausen could be called in to drive in the Texas 500, the team is preparing to announce its regular four drivers.
Tony Durbin has already been confirmed as one of the team's race drivers, and he will carry the #33 he ran in the TM Master Cup series in tribute to Steve Marshall.
Marshall's son, Travis, will drive in car #8, after insisting that Durbin use the #33 for his own car.
"When I was little my daddy put 8 on my first car." the younger Marshall said.
"33 means more to Tony than it does to me... but my granddad drove number 8 way back in the day too, so it means more to me than 33 does."
Ethan Everett is expected to be named the driver of one of the two remaining spots, while the other is reportedly a huge sponsor signing.
"It's a big deal for everyone around here." Tony Durbin was quoted as saying.
"All I can say is that she's a good driver who needs a bit of guidance."

Nash Motorsports Possibly Finding a Home in ASCC?
Thomas Nash, owner of Nash Motorsports, has announced that they will attempt the 2012 ASCC season. Nash, who had a spot lined up in the VSCC before the series presumably folded, believes that the ASCC is the next best series that they can enter. They want to start in a mid-ranged series so they can one day compete in a bigger series. Nash will attempt to make the VSCC race at Clairmont. After that race, he'll switch gears to the ASCC. He has purchased several Bolden Chaser cars. Here is more information about the Nash Motorsports entry:
Nash Motorsports, Bolden Chaser (1 car)
#TBA - Thomas Nash, 31, Houston, TX (Sponsor: Quaker State)
The switch to Bolden is an odd one, as he was supposed to run Saar in the VSCC. He has grabbed sponsorship from Quaker State.
