Best Anti-virus product?
The tech guy who worked on my PC said that AVG isn't so good anymore and recommended a Microsoft AV program (the name escapes me at the moment) but I thought I'd ask you guys to see what your experiences have been with different products.

My personal favorite is Avast. Its free and so far its protected me from several bad downloads and other nasty bugs. Only set back is it doesn't allow some games to be played because they affect the fire wall.

I run a combo of Avast, Microsoft Security Essentials and Malware Bytes and I've had no issues

I second this. I have not had any problems while using Avast!.

I have Avira, and while it's a bit intrusive with more false positives than I would like, it does get the job done.

I'd have to recommend Spyware Doctor.

AVG is definately a good one. I have it on both my NR computer and the laptop I use, and even the free version (which I use) is great.

Re: Best Anti-virus product?
AVG has given me no problems, and its kept me virus free, so it's my recomendation, Avira is okay also, a bit annoying but as Tom said it gets the job done. Not a fan of Avast but that's just me. For spyware or malware, I would go with either Spybot or MalwareBytes.

I think I have all of those on my computer. That sorta has to happen when you kill half a dozen computers with viruses.

This. Norton is more of a malware then the stuff it protects you from.gwoodard41 wrote:MPatterson1724 wrote:I just use norton because it comes free with my comcast, never had any issues xD

Running all of them is about as bad as running none of them because some antivirus programs (NOTE: anti-virus, not anti-malware... THERE IS A DIFFERENCE) may conflict with each other and reduce the efficiency of both.
@Snake - Are you talking about Windows Live OneCare?

They installed "Microsoft Security Essentials" this time but I almost started to download AVG before changing my mind at the last minute.

I know for sure AVG, Norton, and Microsoft Security Essentials are all on here cause all three came with the computer when I got it. (Sweet deal, right?) I've had a couple of the other ones on other computers, just don't remember if I put them on this computer.

On my computer I run a combination of Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes, Spybot Search and Destroy. Stay away from Norton, kids.

I've used Norton since mid-2010 and I've never really noticed it ever slowing down my PC.

Norton re-wrote their programme some time in 2010 (or 2009), it is a good programme, although it's expensive and I prefer AVG (I use the free version.)

I have Kaspersky. It's fantastic. If a Trojan ends up on my computer, Kaspersky will find it.
