Unfortunately , Pocono was Enough................
JGR wants to keep Joey Logano: Joe Gibbs doesn't have any plans to let #20-Joey Logano go after this season. Gibbs said before Sunday's rain-delayed Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway that he planned to re-sign the 22-year-old driver, whose contract with Joe Gibbs Racing expires after this season. "Obviously, we've been together for a long time," Gibbs said. "We've got a lot invested. He's our guy and we plan on going forward ... right now in the 20 car."(ESPN)(6-18-2012)

Re: Unfortunately , Pocono was Enough................
Hamlin is really the only good driver in Joe Gibbs Racing, i'll try not to be as sarcastic as possible but Kyle Busch has kept himself rather clean this year so far as much as I can work out, but Joey Logano is mostly a midfielder. It's not very often you see drivers like him visit victory lane very often but Logano has also had some strong runs this year as well.
Re: Unfortunately , Pocono was Enough................
Drivers that would be better than Logano - Brian Scott, Ryan Truex, James Buescher, and Justin Allgiar to name a few.
But you have to remember that Logano's family is very, very, very rich and his ride is paid for with that money. This is not obvious like it is with a driver such as Paul Menard, who has a sponsor backing him. Logano is still there in part because of his cash.

Of the other three you mentioned only Beuscher, Could do well in cup. Allgaier has missed his chance to do well in cup and is slowly turning into the next Jason Keller. Truex needs a full season of nws first before i even form an opinion.

I don't like it but hey, how long as Logano been with Gibbs? Hasn't he been built as the next Tony Stewart, e.g. How Chase Elliott is being made into the next Jeff Gordon?
Re: Unfortunately , Pocono was Enough................
I'm going to give Brian Scott a break here, sure he's a bit of a wrecker but i honestly don't think he has the equipment that his teammates have, Look at (as much as it pains me to say it) Stenhouse for example, Didn't have good equipment in 2010 and was crashing left and right and won the championship just a year later.Mother of Invention wrote:Alpineopossum wrote:Drivers that would be better than Logano - Brian Scott,

Ryan Truex looks pretty good as well, Better then his brother maybe?
Justin Allgaier is stagnated just cause no one (not even ESPN) seems to care about him, when he's a really decent driver,
James Buescher has massively improved and if he gets the shot at Cup he could be another top driver.
Hell any of those four could replace Logano, Easy.

Sorry but I feel Brain Scott is only top tier cause he's benefiting from God-Tier NWS equipment. He was the textbook definition of mediocre while with RAB and KJM even when KJM had Gibbs support. Now that it's more direct support, he doing better.

He was actually good down in trucks and he pulled his weight in two rides that obviously don't have support. (You have Gibbs engine support yes, but there's not a lot you can do with underfunded equipment). I still think he's the bottom-tier of Gibbs as the #18 and #20 seemed to be important with cup drivers and such.Mother of Invention wrote:Sorry but I feel Brain Scott is only top tier cause he's benefiting from God-Tier NWS equipment. Justin Allgaier was the only Nationwide regular to win in 2010, and won again last year, it's the fact that he's in a Nationwide only team that hurts his chances of getting into cup.Alta wrote:I'm going to give Brian Scott a break here, sure he's a bit of a wrecker but i honestly don't think he has the equipment that his teammates have, Look at (as much as it pains me to say it) Stenhouse for example, Didn't have good equipment in 2010 and was crashing left and right and won the championship just a year later.Mother of Invention wrote:Alpineopossum wrote:Drivers that would be better than Logano - Brian Scott,

Re: Unfortunately , Pocono was Enough................
Scott is like Ricky Stenhouse. He has potential and a situation to achieve that potential. It'll take another season, but he will be a fast driver. I mentioned him because he's a JGR developmental driver. There are plenty of strong drivers better than Joey Logano but have development contracts. These include Ricky Stenhouse, Parker Klingerman, Austin Dillon, and Trevor Bayne. Gibbs couldn't hire these guys because they're development drivers for teams that in most cases do not have an open ride in sight anytime soon. Dillon being the exception. There were also a lot of drivers who had potential when they were up and coming, and they no longer race in NASCAR. Bryan Clauson is a talented driver and now he is running IndyCar / Indy Lights. Chad McCumbee [remember him?] runs the Grand Am Cup Touring Car series or whatever they call it now and is doing very, very well. I've met him, so I'm biased. The point is, there is a whole generation of drivers who are clogging up the stunted pipeline and are stuck in the Nationwide Series, Trucks, or ARCA. Maybe there is another Johnson, Gordon, Busch, or Edwards in there. We may never know.
