If a new race track was to be built somewhere...
Where would you want it to be, and what kind of track would you want it to be?

A street circuit in New York for NASCAR. There was a fictional track on the NASCAR 06 Total Team Control game that was of a street circuit in New York, and I think I heard rumours about a track being planned on being made in the city like a year ago though, but I'd love for that to happen.

There's a track like that in Forza 3 as well. I think it used part of Times Square for the course.

Decatur IL! It would bring back whatever economy left that city years ago, plus it would be cool

They need to build a hot wheels track with the loops and shit. Preferably on MT. Everest cause the track can get icy LOL!

A south Jersey track. Mainly because South Jersey needs something other then the Jersey Shore to make it stand out from North Jersey. Seriously, I am from South Jersey and HATE North Jersey. Anything more then maybe 45 minutes drive from me isn't Jersey to me any more, its New York.

The northwest, and make it a top notch road course. I know there is Portland, but I don't think that is a top notch facility

New York City I think does need a street course and not just a NASCAR event. I say bring the Indycars bring Grand-AM bring F1. New York City is one of the biggest markets in the world. You'd think any motorsports series would want the media hype.

Thus why they hare having the 2013 Grand Prix of the Americas there in New Jersey right outside of New York

Maybe the ALMS could race there to.

This. Though I myself don't mind either side of the state.

IIRC, NASCAR explored building tracks in both locations, and was met with stiff resistance from the locals. As big of a market as it is, there isn't a whole lot of interest in the idea.

There's one in Millville, which is near Atlantic City.
I heard rumors that a NASCAR track was going to be built in Staten Island or the Meadowlands, which is literally minutes away from me, but we all know that was a long time ago. As a matter of fact, CART throughout the 1980's and early 90's had a street course race right by the old Giants stadium. But how about restoring race tracks like North Wilkesboro, Nazareth, or Cleveland? Heck, bring back the old Hockenheim circuit. Now THAT would be awesome.

When I was 6 in 2003, when Nascar Thunder 2004 came out, I always wanted someone to make a track like Sawmill and/or Devil's Canyon

There were plans for an indoor track somewhere in Connecticut much like Manhattan Raceway Stadium for NR2003. That would be cool in general.

You put one in the middle of Salem county the locals wouldnt know what to think. Frankly most of South Jersey is farm land. Nobody has really explored for a track in the Northwest.Blake Camphausen wrote:A south Jersey track. Anyone who's been through Decatur, IL would know this is fact. There is ZERO opportunity in southern Illinois. A major racing facility even in the Springfield area would do wonders.
Since the implications are for a permanent facility rather than a temporary one, I'll put my obvious bias towards a Chicago street race (which might actually happen for IndyCar!!! YAY!!!) aside.
Despite my obvious bias towards road racing these days, I would make a 1 mile oval. No tri-oval, 4 degrees of banking in turns 1 and 2, and 18 in turns 3 and 4. Game on, engineers. :]
But if temporary tracks count, then I'd have a downtown Chicago street race, if only so I could take public transportation to get to it*.
* Unless it's at O'Hare International Airport. Talk about logistical nightmare!!!

I would demolish Fontana, Build a clone of the 2010 Bristol there.
My idea for a new track would be:
Located in Ohio
3.0 mile long oval
No banking
6 lanes wide.

Decatur
Karjala
An exact copy of Grand Detour at St. George, West Virginia. That area, in general, is deforested, yet unused, and is flat, so it could happen!
Boston
Vermont International Raceway
Chicago Twin Speedway (there ya go, Cy )
The TMMC Michigan track, in NW Pennsylvania somewhere.
Anything in the absolutely BEAUTIFUL forests of Nevada. Something like Silver City.

I would love to see a track similar to Carman Park, but with a fence between the track and the lake.

All the tracks around Australia that V8 Supercars are at are all in metropolitan areas, well except for Winton, Symmons Plains and kind of Bathurst, but Bathurst is the biggest race of the season, but they made a big plus on putting racetracks in metropolitan areas. There's not really a place that they have missed out on that actually deserve a racetrack.

A track that is in the Grand Canyon or near it, e.g. Radiator Springs in Cars: The Video Game.
Re: If a new race track was to be built somewhere...
Got another one. Build a street circuit in the middle of Pripyat that goes around the nuclear plant. Oh wait...

Google Mesa Marin. That's what that track is an edit of, I think.

I have one more. Build an F-Zero track in Area 51. Let the drivers race the alien ships and the walls can be deadly like in F-Zero.

I'd like to see, I think it's Verdugo? The one shaped like a pizza slice on a hill. Be nice to see people navigate that hairpin in real life
