- Spoiler:
- At the time, I recorded the race with the anticipation that Arto Kekkonen wouldn't get a time penalty. While making the video, I decided that he probably deserved one.
I decided to give it back to him, demoting him from 5th to 10th. Since Sykes didn't retire as a result it's debatable whether or not he'll go to the back for Sweden.
I also missed Rene Recamier's exit from the race, but at the time he was way, way down the order ...

"quit wrecking cars like a clown"
Wow those drivers have not learnt their lesson after the race at Brands Hatch. I think I could expect a lot of post-race penalties coming very soon.

- "Um....We ran extremely well, we were inside the top 10, and we were wrecked by a moron, again. This is the first time I'm legitimately mad over what has happened. That is two weeks in a row, I was wrecked by a complete idiot. I feel as if now I am fighting for a chance at a ride next year, because my results haven't been stellar, and I continue to have problems, not of my own doing. I really don't have much else to say, except that if I am near the 16 or 2 in the coming weeks, expect me to drive like them."

Re: Race 05: Round of France
- Spoiler:
- Finalement! Matthews cracks the points in a big way:
There may have been speculation pre-Round of France that Ryan Matthews wouldn't even take the start in his team's home country, but those rumors proved to be just that.
With the cloud lifted, Matthews took to the track and put in his best career finish of 12th place - one spot behind, interestingly, the man rumored to have been in the No. 11 car for this event, Jacques Bouvier.
It also was his first points finish of the season.
"Finally," he said, exiting his car with a big smile on his face. "That monkey's finally off our back. We got points!
"Seriously, though, we needed this one," he continued. "We were in position to get points in England but the car just died on me, so I was a little nervous as the race wore on. I almost expected something to go wrong - a cut tire, a bad valve, anything. Thank God it didn't.
"Now we can concentrate on going racing and getting good finishes. Baby steps to prosperity, my friends!"
Matthews now looks to build on his success with a strong run in Sweden.

Re: Race 05: Round of France
- Spoiler:
- Bell Apologetic; But Not Sorry For Roderick Incident
Libby Bell was making her first TM Master Cup start under the most trying of circumstances. Bell, subbing for the suspended Kurt Plissken at the Round of France, was also driving in a foreign country she'd never visited on a track she'd never seen in a new car design with very short notice. During the latter stages of the race, current ARLA points leader Bell made contact with Leonid Roderick that eventually led to them crashing with Roderick unable to continue.
"I apologize to him for the crash, but I'm not sorry I tried to pass him. I mean, it is a race for crying out loud," Bell stated shortly after the conclusion of the race. "I felt I had reeled him in a little and just got a bit over excited. I was like, "I'm about to pass a legend. No freaking way! I'm passing Leonid Roderick! Call it inexperience or "youthful exuberance" or whatever you want, but I'd say it was just a case of unfamiliarity with the competition. I'm not one to make excuses and I wish it wouldn't have happened," Bell continued.
William Power said. "Overall, I thought she gave a pretty good accounting of herself out there today. All things considered, with all that was thrown at her, she handled things well I thought. The Roderick incident was unfortunate, but she was almost taken out on the first lap. She didn't get rattled with the other incident that mangled up her car and in fact drove it better as the race progressed. I thought she did an excellent job of hanging back and getting the feel of the car and the track. Once she felt more comfortable, she started making her way up through the field. I don't have all the data with me right now, but I know at one point she made it up into 12th place and was battling Roderick for position. Even after that, Libby kept her composure. I'm really impressed with her."
It was a tumultuous week for "Wonder Woman" as she's been called after winning back to back races for the first time in PSI's short history.
"The traveling was the worst part of the whole experience," Bell said. "And the time change. I had Kurt Plissken giving me the lowdown on the car as best he could. With just one week to prepare-- well I'm just glad Mr. Power had the confidence in me to ask me to fill in for him."
On the other hand, William Power was keeping an extra close eye on the officials this week. Power and PSI had filed an injunction to prevent the TMMC from suspending Plissken after events at Brands Hatch. They were unsuccessful and the suspension was upheld.
"I was interested to see how the officials were going to rule on the Dwyer/Sykes incident," Power stated. "It involved two of their golden boys and I know they really hated to penalize either one them-- but they kind of had to this time. Nice to see their arm get twisted for once."

Re: Race 05: Round of France
Emotional Nosova Claims Victory After Last Second Pass
After qualifying 23rd and 25th, Yuliya Nosova and Jose Luis Martinez were not believed to have anything for the frontrunners for the Round of France. Both managed to charge to the front using different tactics and came home 1-2 in one of the most thrilling finishes of recent memory.
Nosova, 30, was very emotional on the podium, and was barely able to conduct her post-race interview.
"Everyone in the team worked real hard to give me the chance... and I am grateful to you all." Nosova said.
"It's a great feeling to be here right now."
Mexican driver Jose Luis Martinez stamped his authority as a top-line driver after posting an impressive second place finish after leading nearly half the race on an alternate strategy.
"It was a great day for our little team. I'm disappointed to have not won, but I did my best and I am proud of what I was able to achieve today." Martinez said.
"It was good for the team, the whole team, and it is a blessing to have this opportunity... we had great cars and great pit work."
Martinez, who is quickly earning a reputation for his gentlemanly mannerisms off the track, finished by thanking the fans.
"The fan support was amazing as well... it was great to be at this track and to know all the motorsport fans were so enthusiastic. I hope we come back here because the fans were great."
Roderick Hits Out at Bell
After his exit from the Round of France, Leonid Roderick was less than pleased. The usually calm and composed "Governor Rod" refused to speak to reporters for some time. After hearing Libby Bell's explanation for the collision, Roderick's attitude towards the incident did not change.
"It's frustrating when you run real well and someone keeps trying to wreck you because they can't pass you. Things happen and rookies get too excited and make mistakes, but the only other time I was hooked like that was intentional." Roderick stated.
"Libby was doing okay for a rookie I guess, but she didn't have the position, she wasn't alongside me or anything like that. If she was it would have probably just been a racing incident... but it's a sorry day for the sport and for all the guys that built both our cars when people resort to wrecking you instead of passing you cleanly."
It was Roderick's second DNF in a row due to being taken out by another driver.
Dwyer Vows Not To "Play Nice"
A disastrous Round of France for Team Saar USA sensation Kevin Dwyer left the Minnesotan driver frustrated. In the same way his famous father Benny Dwyer used to, Kevin Dwyer was blunt with the press.
"I want to cut the field to 20-25 cars. Get rid of all the idiots running around with lots of money and no talent... Packer, the idiot in the 16 car who thinks she's the next Alexis but doesn't have half Rachel's talent, and James Dalton's two talentless hacks... " Dwyer said.
"I mean, if the officials want to cheapen the series so all the stupid kids can have fun crashing, that's fine with me. I'll just stop playing nice, it's not like that kind of driving killed Scott Hamilton last year or anything, right?"
Dwyer insisted that the collision with Michael Sykes had little impact on his outburst. He did, however, say that he was out for revenge.
"I'll just dump the 44's shit sometime, you know, kind of like he did in British touring cars. That's fine with me, I'll take the penalty, he just better watch out."

Pushanda keeps point streak going
Vijay Pushanda driver of the HP Tutino, numbered 42, ran across the line to score a 16th place finish in France. "The team over the last 3 weeks have worked very well to give me cars we can consitently score," Pushanda stated. "Good to see Dan scoring points, it is good to see both cars get into the points here. This track is absolutly beautiful, I remember it from Formula A, so I was telling the team info about those ditches." Pushanda will now go to Sweeden for Round 6, then to the Karjala Grand Prix.

Thanks to Arto Time Penalty, Delgado 6th, in Positive Points for First Time This Season
In the wake of his 6th place finish in France this afternoon, Tom Delgado said a lot by saying very little as he tried to get back to the garage area.
"I'm glad it's over. I'm not speaking to you guys until I'm in the top 15 in points, so you'll have to get your entertainment from someone else. I need to do what Katashima-san says and be a team player, and that involves ignoring the hell out of you guys" Delgado said. Without saying another word, he moved his way past reporters and went to talk to his crew chief, while extra track security (at Delgado's request) came to usher the reporters away from his area of the garage.

- Duff Motivated Following France; French Crowd "Overwhelming"
Fans weren't the only ones pumped after the Round of France. Despite hometown hero Adrian Devereux falling early on to mechanical troubles, the French fanbase was bursting with exuberance, in what Duff described as "an overwhelming presence and a true representation of the sport." The Katzev group showed an early gamble on fuel strategy that paid off for Jose Luis Martinez in the long run, and his teammate Yuliya Nosova sliced her way through the field to make it one of the greatest Master Cup races in recent memory. As Martinez struggled in the last couple of laps to conserve fuel, Nosova made a charge and ultimately made a brilliant last lap pass for the win.
Towards the end when his finishing position was all but locked away, the driver of the #5 was being relayed the battle for the win over his radio. "After the season we've had so far, I was content to ride my way to an easy top 10," Duff stated post race. "The big guy up on the box hinted at a potential photo finish with a few laps left, so I had him tune me into the race broadcast. It's thrilling to everyone when you see a finish come down to the very end like that. My hat's off to Dan Mullen for the above-excellent commentary and Katzev for the battle. Also have to thank my Xenos crew for landing us a solid 8th place finish today."
Duff's top 10 showing in Round 5 mimicked his teammate Leonard's 8th place run at Brands Hatch a week prior. This being the best finish for the Xenos group so far this year, it's a step forward to revitalizing a team struck with the tragic passing of Scott Hamilton just 6 months ago in Brazil. The team seems to be gaining confidence as the season progresses and they believe they're not too far from their first top 5 on the season.

Bell Responds to Dwyer
Libby Bell was informed of Kevin Dwyer's comments in which he said that Bell "thinks she's the next Alexis but doesn't have half Rachel's talent."
"Well, about the Roderick incident, I've already apologized and don't feel the need to continuously do so. I was closing in on Roderick and trying to be patient like Kurt advised me to do. He told me to wait for an opportunity to pounce and when Roderick got loose and slid I thought that was my chance. It didn't work out. End of story. Or at least it should have been anyway. You can tell Kevin Dwyer that at least I'm making it out there on my own and not living off my Daddy's coattails. Benny Dwyer made a name for himself with his accomplishments, Kevin hasn't done anything but get special treatment from Master Cup officials because of his father's reputation. That's nothing to brag about."
Dwyer Comment Pointed Jab at Plissken?
In his recent rant, Kevin Dwyer called Libby Bell "the idiot in the 16 car who thinks she's the next Alexis but doesn't have half Rachel's talent" but then went so far as to insinuate that "it's not like that kind of driving killed Scott Hamilton last year or anything, right?"
Was that a personal jab at Kurt Plissken? He thinks so. Plissken was involved in the Hamilton incident, but was exonerated from any wrongdoing. Plissken also received death threats as a result. Is this Dwyer upholding his vow "not to play nice."
Regardless of the answer, Plissken's response to Kevin Dwyer was short, not so sweet, and unprintable.

Back to back podiums for Steudler
After only having 1 podium before the start of the season, Scott Steudler has showed his vastly improved road course skills by getting back to back podiums, finishing 3rd place.
"It's amazing how well oiled this team is, just a great bunch who has showed us a great team effort. The Katzevs had some good strategy that worked out for them quite well, but I was hoping that they would have screwed up somehow. But I am VERY happy for my team right now, I know a win is around the corner, I can feel it."
After his 3rd place finish, Steudler went up to 6th place in the standings, only 14 points behind 5th, and 75 points out of the lead.
