So who won the Kurt bet? I'm surprised he made it this long without going off on someone though.

Can't remember seeing the 2 get together on the track besides both of them spinning out at the same time towards the end of the race. Either I wasn't paying attention to Kurt and/or Ryan throughout most of the race, or it's Kurt being Kurt. Neutral

From the footage I saw, it was just Newman's crewman making a scene. Kurt wasn't really doing anything at all.

And why he's mad at Kurt when it's Almirola who didn't lift when a car spun ahead of him is beyond me.

it was something that Kurt did leaving the pits after the spin while Newman's crew was doing repairs.

edit: Kurt drove through Newman's pit while the crew was still in in the box.

Jimmie Johnson wins his 2nd Southern 500 and gives Rick Hendrick his 200th career victory as an owner. (I'm rather annoyed how FOX made such a big deal about Johnson being on a 16-race winless streak. Really not that much in my opinion.)

Results

1 - 48 Jimmie Johnson (56th career win)
2 - 11 Denny Hamlin
3 - 14 Tony Stewart
4 - 18 Kyle Busch
5 - 56 Martin Truex Jr.
6 - 17 Matt Kenseth
7 - 99 Carl Edwards
8 - 5 Kasey Kahne
9 - 9 Marcos Ambrose
10 - 20 Joey Logano
11 - 15 Clint Bowyer
12 - 16 Greg Biffle
13 - 27 Paul Menard
14 - 78 Regan Smith
15 - 2 Brad Keselowski
16 - 29 Kevin Harvick
17 - 88 Dale Earnhardt Jr.
18 - 31 Jeff Burton
19 - 43 Aric Almirola
20 - 55 Mark Martin
21 - 51 Kurt Busch
22 - 13 Casey Mears -1
23 - 39 Ryan Newman -1
24 - 42 Juan Pablo Montoya -2
25 - 38 David Gilliland -2
26 - 83 Landon Cassill -2
27 - 36 Dave Blaney -3
28 - 34 David Ragan -4
29 - 47 Bobby Labonte -4
30 - 32 Reed Sorenson -5
31 - 10 Danica Patrick -6 (I should note that Danica has finished ahead of Jeff Gordon in both her starts so far.)
32 - 73 Travis Kvapil -6
33 - 22 AJ Allmendinger -11
34 - 1 Jamie McMurray -23
35 - 24 Jeff Gordon -29
36 - 93 David Reutimann -54
37 - 49 JJ Yeley OUT
38 - 74 Cole Whitt OUT
39 - 30 David Stremme OUT
40 - 87 Joe Nemechek OUT
41 - 52 Mike Skinner OUT
42 - 79 Scott Speed OUT
43 - 26 Josh Wise OUT

I'm slowly getting convinced that Gordon's just gonna retire at the end of 2012. This has been a train wreck of a year for Jeff.

In fact, Jeff Gordon is behind Mark Martin (who has 3 fewer starts) in the standings.

Maybe I'm biased, but I don't think he'd want to just leave after a season like this. Look at how Rusty Wallace went out - top 5 in points IIRC.

It's unfortunate for Kurt as he was having an awesome run putting a finch car in the top 10, But he was pinballing the walls near the end of that thing, I'm not sure if that was him trying to hard or the car just went away. He has his right to be frustrated but doing stuff in front of the someone's pit stall especially when the guy didn't even get into you (Other then Newman hitting Busch while they both were spinning but that was way out both of their hands) you look like the bigger idiot in the situation.

Then again this is the only thing that makes Ryan Newman relevant other then his one win per year out of no where.

8th, actually. 6th without the chase, though.

edit: Kurt drove through Newman's pit while the crew was still in in the box.

Kurt did a burnout on pit road while screaming certain words over the radio, and while Newman's guys were cleaning up from their stop, Kurt drove through their box. Then Newman's very large gas man charged over to Kurt's pits and started screaming at them. Then after the race, he went after Kurt, who decided to run into Newman's car on pit road. He claims to be distracted because he was taking off his helmet. Newman then had a conversation with Kurt, and after he walked away, the previously mentioned very large gas man ran over to Kurt to start yelling at him, however he was stopped by Kurt's crew members. Suddenly, a large group of crew members from the 39 and 51 teams had to be separated by NASCAR officials, along with some crew other teams and passing fans. I know a NASCAR official was shoved to the ground, and afterwards Casey Mears's #13 crew came flying in to stop the fight. Both Newman and Kurt went to the NASCAR hauler after the race, but according to Newman, his meeting with NASCAR was very short. The same cannot be said for Kurt.

So I'm kind of glad I went out instead of watching the race?
