2012 F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix
Formula 1 returns to Bahrain after an absence from the 2011 schedule due to the human rights issues. It's over a year later, and things aren't looking any better, if not worse.
Ian Parkes and Byron Young's twitter accounts tell quite the story about what they've seen today in Bahrain.

If the twitter posts aren't enough to convince the FIA (and Bernie the dwarf) to cancel the whole event, then I don't know what will be.

Someone important eating a Molotov cocktail will. But even then Bernie will probably throw a fit about cancelling the race.

The midget would say it's just coincidence, and run the race anyway

The race only exists because one prince shelled out a ton of dough for it.

Well, I guess all we can really do about it is wait for the race and hope the drivers don't have grenades thrown at them on the starting grid.

No. Abu Dhabi has a race. I'm surprised Dubai doesn't have one.

Oh, wait, I know why Dubai doesn't have a race:
Tilke didn't build the circuit.

Also, according to another Twitter account (Marc Priestley)...
https://twitter.com/#!/f1elvis
Just heard that a Force India F1 hire car was caught up a petrol bomb incident earlier this evening!
To be clear, my information has come directly from Force India F1 personnel. No one was hurt, no damage, but pretty scary.

That's nothing compared to Bahrain in general. Or China. Or the farce known as Yeongam.

I have a strong feeling that Yeongam and Bahrain will be the two tracks sacrificed for Port Imperial (Death Street Course A) and Russia (Death Street Course B)

Practice has Begun.....................
The track is pretty Deserted, less than 1000 fans.
and even Bob Varsha thinks running this race is a bad idea.

Ted Kravitz of Sky Sports F1 counted 58 people in the main grandstand.

58 people?!? That might be acceptable at a spring training game for the Lancaster Barnstormers (a minor league baseball team near where I live). For F1 practice?!? I think there's more people waiting in line at the bathroom at a NASCAR race than this!

Just more proof that the race is only on the calendar because the Crown Prince forks over the check.

And the latest one:
Re Force India and FP2 - I'm told Ecclestone and the Bahrainis want to avoid the embarrassment, so expect negotiations between now and FP2

58 fans? You put every single fan at that practice in the back of an Applebee's or Friday's it be half full? Seriously there are more people at my schools High School Football game than that.

58? Ye Gods.Even my former soccer school's under 8's practice session has more spectators than that.

Or the farce known as Yeongam.
like heck it's not as severe as Bahrain, but allowing a politician from a country that only Turkey recognizez and has been disputed for 30+ years is really a dick move, especially when they barely got a slap on the wrist compared to Jerez, which made an even less severe but similar mistake and got barred from F1 competition for like 5 years IIRC.

I think the rest of the forum might agree to this.you are either one evil mother fucker to hold your race in support of this regime
as an Anonymous supporter, I agree with this, any simple minded person would of canceled the race and move on to the next one, but Bernie cares more about money than human life, for all we know he could still hold the race with human bodies splattered on the track, driver or spectator.

If this race goes as planned then I will write the FIA a message, saying 'do not host another race in Bahrain again after this one' because as I've been saying, something is bound to go wrong not only in the race, but possibly in qualifying as well.
