STP 400 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers are now heading their way to the Kansas Speedway for the running of the STP 400, the 8th race of the 2012 season. Will Greg Biffle be able to maintain his points lead at the conclusion of the race?
Entry list to be posted later.

Re: STP 400 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
Nascar is in dire need of new tracks to the schedule. Not the same old boring cookie cutters.
Somebody top 5 in points wins this race.

Another generic "boring" comment.

I don't think that, I just think that the cookie cutter tracks need to be dropped to maybe 3 a year. I find their existant in the first place, unoriginal.

I think they're saying that because the races this year have been, well, crappy as of late. Other then Martinsville. A decent cup race would be nice. And no, I'm NOT saying crashes are good.

Antknee, just admit it. The racing just hasn't been exciting this year. The only races that have been interesting this year have been Daytona (till the last 40 laps), Bristol, and Martinsville.
The last two races, California and Texas, had me falling asleep in my chair, it was so boring. And I'm sure you'll say, "So what if the leader's running away. There's still the midfield battle." Problem is, there is no midfield battles to speak of. They just don't exist, and I've been watching (or trying to watch, as the case may be) the midfield battles when the race for the lead is non-existant. Kinda hard to do when there are none. And Kansas will be no exception.
"Well, the race isn't just about the race for the lead." Trust me, we are well aware. Case in point: the Chinese Grand Prix. Rosberg had a 20-second lead, but that's not what we were focused on. We were focused on the 10-car choo-choo train that was fighting for the other two podium spots. Dive-bombs, tires rubbing, going three-wide, that kind of thing. I don't know what they did with F1 this year, but NASCAR should follow their example.
Another example: right now, you can pretty much guarantee who's gonna be in the top 10 at each NASCAR race right now. In F1, it's like roulette. You just don't know who's gonna land where. Fernando Alonso won at Malaysia, barely finished in the points at China.
I'm not saying NASCAR can't improve. It just gets old when they go to the same kind of track every week: a 1.5 mile tri- or quad-oval. Right now, the only tracks that I can see coming up in the next month or so that might be interesting are Talladega (obviously) and Darlington. Again, I could be proven wrong.
And you might ask, "Well, what kind of tracks would you add to the schedule?" Short answer?
ROAD COURSES. There's that one in Canada that the Nationwide Series goes to every year, and it seems to produce the best race of the year in NASCAR...
Bottom line, if NASCAR wants to improve its product, they need to cut some of the dates that the cookie-cutter tracks have back down to one date, or cut them from the schedule altogether, and improve the variety of tracks that we used to see.
Wow, didn't expect to write an article on the matter...

I think we need to have more faith in Kansas. Most of the time the racing's pretty good, and I think last year's ending was great.

Kansas isn't a terrible track, it's just nothing special. Another cookie-cutter filling spots on the schedule that could be used for tracks with more exciting races.
But hey, it could be worse. At least it's not Auto Club.

It's not the worst of the cookie-cutters. But in no way should it have two dates.
And after next year's repave, it will likely become the worst track on the schedule.

I haven't watched F1 (I've already stated why) so I can't argue that. But, I've seen two of the three IndyCar races and Long Beach was probably the best of three but they weren't best of the year so far.

Maybe you should get off your NASCAR high horse and watch an F1 race. Record it even. You should take in ALL the facts before coming to a conclusion.

I tell you, these lapped cars need to learn to let the leaders by. It's been getting pretty rediculous that cars five or six laps down will fight the leaders to keep from going lap down, and it's been worse these last few weeks. I said it once, and I'll say it again, if you're fighting to stay on the lead lap, that's fine, but if you're gonna go a second lap or more down, or if you're hopelessly slow, move out of the way. NASCAR definitely needs to crack down on this soon.

Ok, has anybody besides me watched all of the races start to finish this year? If not, you can't make that statement. Because of the same reason Alta told me which makes sense. You can't comment on something you haven't seen.

I watched all 267 laps of this race. It was a complete borefest except for the restarts and the last 5 laps.

Phenoix: Boring
Marty: Only exciting at the end
Bristol: The best race they could've run on that track
Rest of the race i can't think of have been boring.
There has been a couple good Truck and Nationwide races i can't think about right now. But Cup has been sucking for the most part.
This race is more of me crapping on the predictability as i missed most of the race due to real life issues, so i'm not in much position to judge how exciting it was. But the top 10 was almost the same as it was the past few weeks.
Richmond next week. Grab the pillows boys!

I don't think so. But, then again we have differing opinions.
Please Griffin open your eyes. F1 and IndyCar are much better so far and you don't want to admit it.
Why does it matter if I watch F1 or not? I don't want to watch; I don't have to. As you should've read, I didn't give an opinion on the F1 race because I didn't watch. I only gave an opinion on what I've watched.

Only race I'd call bad is California, everything else was fine. Then again I'm probably the only one who has watched all the races this year all the way threw.
Texas and this race sucked too.
Ok, has anybody besides me watched all of the races start to finish this year? If not, you can't make that statement. Because of the same reason Alta told me which makes sense. You can't comment on something you haven't seen.
Me. I actually thoroughly enjoyed this race, until the end when hamlin won...
