Actually, could you put Hallenstein in my car full time for the rest of the season. Paasonen has a TMMC drive now.

Mosport Pre-Race Storylines

Rubber-Dub-Dub Concerned About Tires

Rubber-Dub-Dub, the tire supplier for the Hanmore Formula Overdrive series, has expressed concerns about this weekend's race in Mosport. "It's not so much the wear of the tire, it's the overall grip" claimed a Rubber-Dub-Dub spokesperson. "We've been having lots of problems with grip on the downhill turn two corner, and to a lesser extent, turn four, which has a similar style. If a driver gets off the main racing line in those corners, they will go off into the tires and end their race."

Atsuro to Return with Factory Team in 2013; Ishikawa Connected?

Engine supplier Atsuro will return to the series in 2013 with their own factory team. Drivers have not been named, but speculation has Akira Ishikawa, the only Japanese driver in the field, heading there. The Kyoto native has spent her maiden season on the tour with FAC Motorsports, a stock car team that will not attempt to use resources to field a two-car team in 2013. Atsuro executives like Ishikawa, a driver who "reminds them a lot of [Kiriki] Hetsuno," a Atsuro engineer said.

Alessandro Rossini understandably furious after accident

Alessandro Rossini was rightly angry after a collision with Cliff Raymond through him out of the race 22 laps from the end. Rossini, who was running in the lower region of the points, had made the pass officially before Raymond moved in toward Rossini, turning both into the wall at great speed, and putting both out. Rossini was quick out of the car and added to the expense of the incident after throwing his steering wheel in the direction of Raymond before being summoned to meet the officials.

"I don't understand driving like that, it makes me sick to think there are drivers ridiculous enough to turn into another car at great speeds like Raymond did. I haven't seen this since club karting. It was lucky that we escaped alive, especially after the incidents we had at Darlington," raged the young Italian, who was open to press after the collision.

"It's becoming a real farce, stupid drivers paired with stupid organisers. Who sends immature drivers onto a circuit with tyres that can't do the job, there were some huge incidents and as I said before, this is coming only a single race weekend from the horrible incident of Meghan [Gallagher] and Tanya [Carter]. Imbecilic."

Atlanta Pre-Race Storylines

New Aero Package Debuts at Atlanta

The new aero package in the wake of the Darlington race has separated the pack this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. This comes as a welcome sight for the drivers, many of whom raised concerns after Darlington, and again last week after the Mosport race.

Teams begin to claim numbers for 2013

Many fans are wondering on what numbers their favorite teams will be using next year. ClarTech has said that they will use the 6 and 8 again next season, although they have stated if one of their drivers win the title this year, that car will be re-numbered 1.

RTR would like to use #7 and #27 unless we win the title and can use #1. Which to be honest is a longshot...

Stellar Race Corp., which will be SuzukaCorp. next year in all likelihood, will likely keep 09, or use 56 if it is open (please be open next year).

Hanmore CEO Frank Dolan had this to say after the Atlanta race in response to Team VisitOhio: "We want these drivers to be able to police themselves on track, they shouldn't have to rely on race control to handle their problems. We can understand legitimate safety concerns, including after Darlington, which we have addressed, evidenced by today's race. This isn't the first time Pushanda has dumped a lapped car. He nearly sent Keaton upside down at Milwaukee. And for his team to complain to us after HE was the one who put Gilreath in the wall. A similar incident occurred with Keaton and Schneider, but they aren't saying anything because they are man enough to take responsibility for their actions, unlike both of the Pushanda brothers. We have numerous teams trying to get on the grid before Texas and for 2013, and I'd have to say, Team VisitOhio is walking a thin line."

Garry Carter proud of son and Natalie Kendall for good performances; responds to Kovach's comments

Garry Carter, despite a very poor finish, climbed out of his car a very happy man, with a smile on his face. He said to his crew chief, Garrett Rawling "What a race! That was a blast!" He then went over to his son, Ross, to congratulate him on his good finish, then congratulated Natalie Kendall on her great race too. He was interviewed the next day in a press conference.

P (The Press): Garry, well done on your teams good runs today. How was it to be back, and how was the aero package?

GC (Garry Carter): That was awesome! The aero package felt so good today, and it was so good that Tanya called me after the race from hospital to say how she noted obvious changes in the system. That should say something.

P: Okay, so we know your run may not have been so good, but talk about Ross and Natalie.

GC: Well, Natalie had a fantastic qualifying setup, and for an open wheel oval debut, she did amazingly, leading nearly 30 laps! I'm very proud of her. As for Ross, he clawed his way up and earned himself a top 5, and that makes me proud of him. I'm really hoping these big ovals are his forte.

P: We understand that you've heard the comments of Matt Kovach, and what is your view on that?

GC: I'm going to be really blunt here. This isn't live is it? It isn't? Good. He needs to stop bitching. Sulinder Pushanda drove like a tool out there today, and the nerve that he has to go crying to the press blaming other drivers is just annoying. I'd like to also say right now that any boycott they do, our team will most definitely not be participating. The aero package was a massive improvement from Darlington, and if my daughter who nearly died for these changes to be made noted that they had improved, then it just shows that Kovach and Pushanda are just being giant bitches, really.

P: We were going to ask you about your involvement in the rumoured boycott, but your intentions are clear.

GC: Yep. I'm telling you, they'll be alone for sure, but it'll be less cautions a race so I'm not complaining.

P: Thank you Garry.

Pushanda speaks out after 2nd Caution

Sulinder Pushanda was quick to respond to Hanmore Formula Overdrive's reaction to his driving. "All the wrecks I have been involved in, were do to cars either hitting the wall, or being slow. Both Milwakee and Atlanta were cases of that. Keaton doesn't have a clue what he is doing out there, and Gilreath slammed the wall, he should have moved out of the way if he was that slow. I hope my team doesn't return next week, I am not going to get killed over stupid racers out there." It is expected that Team Visit Ohio will announce that they will boycott the rest of the season to participate in other racing ventures, at a later date.

OOC: Yes I know Pushanda is a whiner

Rossini Sport on lap traffic
Alessandro Rossini, despite finishing 5th, was in agreement with Team Visit Ohio. Rossini, 21, stated; "It's another case of the governing board trying to kick us between the legs." Upon questioned whether he would boycott the remainder of the season, Rossini commented that "Rossini Sport will be making the remaining trips for the Formula Overdrive, despite our concerns with the problematic ****heads at the rear end of the field, I don't see any reason to jeopordise a potential championship. We are only 24 points away from Roddick at the front, why waste such a chance. But I think Mr [Frank] Dolan may needs to listen to their teams."

McNeil offers thoughts on Team Ohio and the FO

Patrick McNeil's day at Atlanta went from bad to good to bad in a very short time. McNeil got together with Sulinder Pushanda and slid a little himself. However the incident put McNeil in the lead on the restart. But, things didn't get better. As the field exited turn two, McNeil's car had an issue and he would pull it off track.

Afterword, McNeil as well as his car owner, Jim More gave their thoughts on the Team Order protest and the current state of the FO.

"Well, first, I hate the we didn't have a better run today. As far as we can tell from looking over the car, we broke a gear in the rear differential. Still doesn't make it hurt any less," McNeil said after the race finished.

[On the Team Ohio protest]
"Well I have to agree with them on Keaton. That kid has no reason to race the leaders as hard as he does when he is multiple laps down. When he is on the tail end of the lead lap that's understandable. However, I don't think they [Team Ohio] need to complain about the FO officials. They did a great job in making sure today's race didn't end up like Darlington. And for getting the response for Texas as well."

Startup to Run Formula Overdrive?
Open-wheel engineering veteran Rick Powell has announced his intention to move to team ownership with the formation of Team Powell. The team plans on fielding one #65 Clartech-powered Duncan in Formula Overdrive next year, driven by Sprint car driver Jackie Thompson. The 26-year old Portland, Oregon native may bring her current sponsor, I&N Security, to the team, and may also be receiving funding from Frontier Jeans, but a more thorough announcement is not expected to be made until later this year.

2014 Hanmore Formula Overdrive Thread (RACE 5 IS UP!) - Page 4 Empty Re: 2014 Hanmore Formula Overdrive Thread (RACE 5 IS UP!)

Post by pennst24 Sat Sep 22, 2012 10:47 pm

I've been falling behind doing reviews for Formula Overdrive, so I will be doing a TM Lights-esque text review for this race only.

Race 9: Road America

For the first time ever, the Hanmore Formula Overdrive series would act as a support race for a TM Master Cup Series race. Teams packed up and headed to the famous Road America circuit in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin to showcase their talents in front of the stock car owners and sponsors. It would be the first race after taking a late-summer break after the Atlanta race. There was some controversy surrounding Team VisitOhio and driver Sulinder Pushanda, but thankfully it has died down and the teams could focus on the task at hand.

Recindo Gonzalez carried his momentum from the Atlanta win to put his #8 RedHot Race Wear ClarTech-powered machine on the pole. Ross Carter and Peter Kreamer put on impressive performances to qualify 2nd and 3rd respectively. Garry Carter and Kenny Morales rounded out the top 5. Perhaps the most shocking qualifying result was that of points leader Chaud Roddick who could only muster a dismal 24th on the grid. It certainly did not help him that his main points rival put his car on the pole.

When the green flag came out, the field spread three and four wide heading into turn one, a heavy braking right hander. Gonzalez held his lead, but Garry Carter in the 92 moved from his 4th starting position to take second away from his son Ross coming out of the first corner, and had a huge run on Gonzalez heading down the long backstretch, and completed the pass for the lead into station 5.

As the field spread out after the first lap, Cody Keaton and Ethan Gilreath fell off the pace considerably. It didn't help Gilreath's race when he promptly binned the car in the sand trap in the Carousel before getting stuck in the tire barriers.

Sara Gallagher in the #26 has been great on natural terrain courses during her short tenure on the circuit, but her race would end on lap 2 after an alternator went south in her engine.

Up front, Garry Carter continued to lead, until lap 5, when Recindo Gonzalez made a ballsy dive-bomb on the #92 to take the lead through the Kink, regarded as the fastest corner on the racetrack. It was clear early on that Gonzalez's car had come alive and he was not letting the title get away from him.

Cody Keaton had an awful day. This was easily his worst performance of the season, but because Road America is over 4 miles in length, no one was in sight to get caught up in his errors. He spun 3 times, once at turn 8, and twice at Canada Corner before eventually throwing his #9 machine comically off the course in the Carousel, embedding himself in the tires. He refused medical attention and transportation to the medical center. Four hours after the race had concluded, Keaton still hadn't shown up to his pitbox, garage, or personal bus. His whereabouts are currently unknown.

Recindo Gonzalez extended his lead further, and still had the lead when pit stops cycled through. It was an easy victory for him, giving him his second straight win, and command of the points standings.

All DSR Cars in Top 10; Garry Carter sees 2nd as Victory

An excellent performance by all of the DSR Carter Racing drivers sees the 2, 22 and 92 all get into the top 10, with Ross and Garry becoming the first father and son duo to finish in the top 5 together, left Garry Carter a very happy bunny.

"I can't believe it." said Garry, "This team has grown so much. Tanya's Memphis trophy is the prize possession in our team trophy cabinet, but we'll be getting more soon, I can feel it! I'm looking at that owner championship, in particular!"

However, another happy announcement happened, involving Natalie Kendall. Jacob Eichholtz got on one knee, and proposed to her. Kendall insisted she did not intend to take any of Ashley Tucker's limelight, and this added onto an excellent 9th place finish. They are to be wed in the off-season.

Keaton given points penalty

After refusing medical attention after his accident at Road America, Hanmore officials slapped Cody Keaton with a three point penalty. It clearly states in the Formula Overdrive rule book that if a driver is involved in a crash in which their car ceases to run, the driver must have medical attention or will be punished. This penalty leaves Keaton with negative three on the season, and with his performance this year, it is unlikely he will break even in the points column. His whereabouts are still unknown at this point. Elkhart Lake police are investigating the matter.

Team Powell Plans Fall Through; Jackie Thompson seeking a ride
Rick Powell announced that his start-up Formula Overdrive will not come to fruition after the team was unable to secure engines from ClarTech; the team has stated that even with the sponsorship money brought in by driver Jackie Thompson, they would not have enough funding to build their own engines.
Thompson, however, has announced that she will continue to actively seek a ride in the series with whichever team will take her and her sponsors.

Sara Gallagher's Engine Expires and Ends Day Early

There's not much to say about Big Mac Racing's day after Sara Gallagher's engine expired very early in the going. She was not available to comment, but owner Thomas Mac said, "This is the type of thing that is not going to help us run full time in the series next year. Engine expirations are unacceptable. Our engineers need to attract some more attention on our team's effort by creating more reliable engines. Sara has done a great job in her short time with the team. She deserves better, especially if the she doesn't get another chance next year.

New Mexican Team to Enter Formula Overdrive in 2013

Hanmore officials announced today that Mexican-American native Lorenzo Velazquez's team, TexMex Autosport, will field a team in the 2013 season of Formula Overdrive. The team has created shockwaves already as Recindo Gonzalez, the current championship leader, will leave ClarTech at the end of the season to race for Velazquez and TexMex. Driving alongside Gonzalez will be his former teammate in Mexican Formula Inglesby, Carlos Quinones. The team has reserved numbers 98 and 99.

ClarTech Fills Gonzalez's Void

ClarTech has signed Canadian Formula Atlantic champion Lydia McKenzie to drive the #6 entry next season. ClarTech officials have said that "she is a great hire for our team, and will be a great teammate to Kenny Morales in 2013."

Garry Carter okay after flip; Kendall scores top 5, Ross continues good streak

After two accidents in an eventful race for him, with the second seeing him go upside-down, Garry Carter escaped injury free. However, he was less than happy after the incidents. "Figures we couldn't get a clean race in. Short tracks are too hard to have clean races on. And what is it with this 92 car and the Gallaghers always having big crashes together? I'm glad Sara is okay, but damn, something is wrong on these shorter tracks."

Natalie Kendall continues her good streak of runs with a top 5, placing third, and Ross Carter continues his hunt for a good points finish with another top 10.

Atsuro Technologies Brings Delgado in to Advise

Former 2-time TM Master Cup Series race winner Tom Delgado has been brought in by Atsuro Technologies to provide advice on their Formula Overdrive efforts.

"I never expected to be working on open wheel cars, but this is a heck of an opportunity. I guess they figured since they've been with is for the ARLA cars, they'd like my input on their Formula Overdrive efforts. I'll be glad to see what I can provide for these guys" Delgado said.

Hanmore World Championships Moving to New Location in 2013

As the Formula Overdrive series moved to Watkins Glen for race 11, Hanmore officials announced that the 2013 Hanmore World Championships, the $10 million dollar race, will leave Texas Motor Speedway after this season. It was announced that the California Speedway will host the race for 2013.

"There are a lot of good intermediate tracks that we like, and instead of putting them all on the calendar, we decided to switch the finale every year to give each track a big race" said Hanmore CEO Frank Dolan.

"However we are still working on a deal with Texas to keep it on the schedule, and it could quite possibly be the first race of the schedule next year."

2013 Hanmore Formula Overdrive Template

I do have most of the cars painted, but I know Cooper, Ceej, Greg, and Milan will probably want to paint their own entries, so I threw up the template that the series is using. What a Face
