PSI news, notes, & various quotes

ARLA

PSI driver Libby Bell was overheard making this observation, "So I wreck in my Rookie Shootout debut and old man Power threatens my ride away but Anthony Griffith, who is not a rookie has wrecked twice in 2 weeks and nothing is said?! What the hell, Mr. Power?! That could be construed as sexist!"

TM Lights

Defending champion Thurston Blood concerning the Zach Gott incident and retaliation, "Bollocks! SOD OFF, Gott!!!! I'm shocked, shocked that he'd do that! I much prefer hitting him with blunt instruments."

TMMC

Kurt Plissken on current teammate Griffith, "Andy still hasn't let it sink in that to finish first, you must first finish."

Word of Libby Bell's comment reached William Power and Power said that he'll be commenting soon on the current situation.

Power Play: PSI Owner to Make "Unprecedented" Maneuver

William Power spoke to the media today concerning the situation that arose after criticisms from one of his ARLA drivers went public after the second consecutive wreck by PSI Master Cup driver Anthony Griffith.
"First, I want to say that I have spoken directly with Libby Bell-- in person. She assures me that her comments were of a private nature but that they were as we all know now, overheard and leaked publicly, " Power stated. "Secondly, she knows that PSI as an organization, and I individually are not sexist. That was proven during the Anthony Griffith/Allie Riggs fiasco at the end of last season. So, let's put that one to rest once and for all."
"Now then, I told Libby that for all this unwanted attention, she raised a legitimate point. Anthony Griffith. What to do? What to do?" Power stated as he gazed upward seemingly praying for some kind of divine inspiration. Then a look crossed Power's face as if his prayer had been answered.
"I tell you what we're gonna do! We're going to do something totally unprecedented in the world of motorsports! It may be against the rules-- I'm not real sure if it is or not, but I don't care if it is. If Griffith's not gonna take care of his equipment, then he's going to get equipment that's not been taken care of in return. What I mean is that we won't bother to spend the effort or the man hours repairing the damage he inflicts on his car. We'll just plan on starting Griffith in the next race in the unrepaired car he wrecked at Road Atlanta. We won't fix the damage in the pits either. We'll just give him tires and gas only. Not only that, but we won't fix the damage for the next race either and so on until he learns his lesson about saving his equipment" Power declared.
"Anthony's post race comments concerning his incident clearly show that he just doesn't get it. I consider this sort of an in house punishment and I don't think Master Cup officials can say anything about it. As far as I know, there's no rule that states all cars have to be undamaged to start a race."

In all seriousness, that's the kind of team owner I would like. Just the way some drivers are today, it's pretty pitiful.

Kurt Plissken history

Post by SnakePlissken on Sun Mar 18, 2012 10:43 pm

I got to thinking that since the move to the new site, many of our newer members may not be familiar with some of Kurt Plissken's exploits, so I gathered them together. Hope you don't mind, but I thought I'd re-share it with you guys.

About 4 years ago:

SnakePlissken wrote:Newsflash: Plissken law troubles return

All good things must come to an end. And apparently the era of Kurt Plissken avoiding trouble with the law has come to a conclusion. The TMMC driver had pretty much kept a low profile since entering the TM Pro Cup series two years ago. Plissken has had a variety of scrapes with the law and has had numerous disciplinary actions taken against him before landing in the TMMC series. After being victimized in an early wreck at the qualifying heat for the Texas race, Plissken was on board Golden Eagle Airlines flight GE-1981 when the incident occured. Details of the event are sketchy, but a passenger managed to snap this photo with their cell phone.

It clearly shows Plissken involved in an altercation with FBI agent Neville Flynn. As his past record indicates, Plissken seems to truly dispise authority. The situation quickly escalated and Agent Flynn could be seen making threatening finger pointing gestures and heard loudly shouting at Plissken, "Enough is enough! I have had it with this mutha*f*ing Snake on this mutha*f*ing plane!"

Plissken was eventually escorted from the plane in handcuffs by the Golden Eagle security task force.
Plissken, who drives the #16 The Outlaw machine for Power Steering Incorporated, is certainly living up to-- or down to as the case may be, the sponsor adorning his car. Neither PSI nor The Oulaw representatives could be reached for comment.

SnakePlissken wrote:NEWSFLASH: Plissken Arraigned: Pleads Not Guilty

Kurt Plissken was arraigned in court today over an alleged tussle he had with an FBI agent on a Golden Eagle Airlines flight. Plissken was released on bond pending the setting of a trial date. Plissken's attorney plans to file a motion to set a court date after the TMMC season has concluded. Accommodating Plissken will allow him the freedom to attempt to make all the races on the 2008 schedule. This motion should be granted as it affects Plissken's right to work status, but isn't a guarantee since this case has federal implications. Rumor has it that if Plissken is unavailable, PSI is considering Jim "Waco" Kidd to move up to replace him. Kidd finished 3rd in his ARLA debut in one of the most dramatic and highly competitive races in recent memory.

SnakePlissken wrote:A preliminary fact finding investigation has uncovered that Golden Eagle flight GE-1981 had Finland as it's destination. Plissken was trying to make his way to Karjala early to get a head start on preparing for the Junior League qualifier there. Apparently, the issue concerned whether Plissken had received the mandatory inoculations to travel abroad. Plissken is notorious for hating needles and had allegedly tried to bypass the injections. Plissken insisted he had already complied and refused to capitulate. Known on the TMMC racing circuit as "Snake" for usually managing to slither away from trouble on the track, Golden Eagle Airlines was aware of his reputation and believed him to be attempting to circumvent their rules. FBI agent Neville Flynn boarded with several members of the Golden Eagle Security staff. Flynn eventually became enraged with Plissken's lack of cooperation. Sources close to the scene claim a hot tempered Flynn lost it when Plissken said, "I got just one question. Which one of you a$$clowns gets to die trying to stick me?"
Flynn took this as a threat and had Plissken shackled and escorted from the airplane with armed guards. Plissken was released on his own recognizance and is awaiting the setting of a court date. It is unknown whether or not Plissken will be allowed to leave the country and attempt the Karjala qualifier. The judge's decision is on that particular issue is expected to come later today. Plissken is packed and ready to go if he is allowed, but he won't be using Golden Eagle Airlines anytime soon.

SnakePlissken wrote:Plissken Exonerated: Cleared of Charges but on Probation

Once Kurt Plissken introduced his inoculation records to prove that he indeed had the necessary shots to travel overseas, Judge Tom Rehme was forced to drop the charges against him. However, Rehme took the opportunity to chastise Plissken for not cooperating with authorities. "Being stubborn may serve you well on the track, but off of it, it will cause you no end of grief, Mr. Plissken."
"Call me Snake," was Plissken's reply.
"Don't push it," Justice Rehme continued. "You're catching a break today because the actions of Agent Flynn were just as atrocious as your own. I'm placing you on probation. You're free to go, Snake.
"The name's Plissken."
Clearly annoyed, Justice Rehme added, "And another thing, I thought you'd be taller."
"Yeah, you and everybody else," Plissken responded defiantly.

As Plissken made his way out of the courthouse, reporters clamored to shout out questions. When asked what he thought of Agent Neville Flynn, the usually tight lipped Plissken answered, "No human compassion."

One press member from Kleffer Media asked, "Snake! How does it feel to regain your freedom?

"In America? That died a long time ago. Land of the free my ...," muttered Plissken. His last terse remarks trailed off as he pushed by the media. Plissken is believed headed off for Karjala even as you read this.

No word on whether Plissken intends to take any further legal actions against Golden Eagle Airlines, the FBI, or Agent Flynn. Golden Eagle has offered an apology and a lifetime "Golden Pass" for free travel to anywhere and at anytime Plissken would want in exchange for him not filing any lawsuits.

3 years later I wrote this:

SnakePlissken wrote:Kurt Plissken's probation for a 2008 incident involving Golden Eagle Airlines and FBI agent Neville Flynn has concluded. The incident that began with a loud bang ended with a quiet whimper.

Related article:
http://efr1.8.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=1397&highlight=golden+eagle

Plissken, the oft maligned and legally challenged TMMC driver, managed to keep his nose clean and once again slither out of his legal troubles. He complied with the terms of his probation and has been given his unconditional release. He is a completely free man. Look out world!

On a side note, PSI owner William Power has said that Plissken has gotten into the best shape of his life for the 2011 season. "He has totally dedicated himself to his craft. That guy is ripped. It has gotten all of here at PSI excited about what the upcoming season may have in store for us."

In between the airline story, this happened:

SnakePlissken wrote:During the early morning hours at a nightclub in New York City, Kurt Plissken was involved in another altercation involving the authorities. A patron of the establishment managed to snap this photo:

of this buxom brunette discharging her weapon in Plissken's general direction. The staff at the nightclub "Chock Full O'Nuts" managed to subdue the woman and disarm her without further incident. Once the police arrived on the scene to take control of the situation, the still visibly angry beauty shouted, "You're a cop! You wanna see him sprayed all over the map, baby?" as she continued to tussle with the officers. The woman, known only at presstime as "Maggie," glared at Plissken and shouted, "Yeah, a man should remember his past. Kansas City, four years ago, you ran out on me... you left me sittin' there. I thought you were dead!" as she was loaded into the back of the squad car.
Plissken shrugged nonchalantly and showed no outward signs that he had been even slightly affected by the turmoil. Although he made no official statement, bystanders reported Plissken muttered, "I'm an a$$hole..." with a wry smile.
Plissken evidently evaded serious injury by diving into a moving taxicab that happened to be passing by. The driver recognized Kurt Plissken and excitedly announced, "Bad neighborhood, Snake! You don't want to be here at night. I've been driving a cab here for 30 years and I'm telling you: you don't walk around here at night! Yes, sir! Those crazies'll kill you! I can't believe it: Kurt Plissken was in my cab!"
When asked for an official comment about the shooting incident with "Maggie," Plissken said flatly, "No human compassion."

Righteousness Group Targets Bigsby Foote Sponsor as "Inappropriate"

A newly formed group calling itself the "Total Auto Racing Decency Society" is rumored to have lodged a formal complaint against Power Steering Incorporated, Tonare, Bigsby Foote, SASQWatch, and possibly even ARLA and the OEN Network itself..
"We find that the SASQWatch car violates the common decency standards that our group is trying to uphold. The use of that logo is completely inappropriate and is considered by our group and its members as pornographic," a Total Auto Racing Decency Society press release stated. The release also threatened action against all parties involved unless their demands for changes are not adhered to. "If our children can't even watch an automobile race without being subjected to these types of indecent images, then we will take immediate action to ensure the safety and well being our our children, now and in the future."

Word on the street is that Power Steering Incorporated's intended reserve driver, Max Goose, may be denied his Master License. No word on details why.

Power on Goose Rumor; "Timing Suspicious"

William Power was asked about the rumor circulating that PSI reserve driver "Mad" Max Goose may have been denied his Master License. "To be honest, I haven't a clue. We submitted Max before the start of the season and there was nothing said about it until we went to court over Plissken's suspension," Power responded. "Makes the timing a little suspicious don't you think?" Power queried. "And dubious," he quickly added. "I heard this rumor circulating around, but I was busy dealing with the injunction hearing and this new issue has cropped up with the Total Auto Racing Decency Society and I just didn't have the time to look into it fully and needed someone in the seat. I'm very disappointed for Max though I know he is too. But yes, I'd be interested in knowing where this rumor sprouted and why. Very suspicious indeed."

And speaking of the Total Auto Racing Decency Society, they seem to be going after the ARLA announcers. "After that filthy exchange, there needs to be a boycott or demonstration of some sort against the OEN network," a Total Auto Racing Decency Society press release stated.
Here is a snippet from the exchange in question:

"Well, I'm glad that he has smarts and the courage enough to say it through a media outlet and not to my face," Plissken retorted as if bored with the whole sideshow. Kurt Plissken, never the bastion of high fashion or hygiene for that matter, has really let himself go. It seems Plissken has taken to the notion that someone tampered with his race cars and caused him to blow up either on the warm up lap or just a few laps into the race. Plissken has been living inside the PSI garage for the past two races standing guard and carefully monitoring everyone who comes into contact with his vehicle. It seems to have worked as Plissken has not only started but actually finished the last two races. Plissken even travels with his vehicle inside the hauler! However this has had a devastating effect on his appearance and is leaving something to be desired.
The picture above shows a file photo of Plissken, most likely a police mug shot, on the left and the most recent image of the PSI driver on the right.
When asked about Anthony Griffith's assertion that PSI is throwing all the better crew members his way, Plissken responded "Bullshit" and chased away this interviewer. When queried as to if he had ascertained the identity of the would be saboteur, Plissken answered, "Have a pretty good idea. Get lost" as he slammed the door in our faces.

PSI To Give "Jinx" A Jingle

In the wake of the very serious crash suffered by PSI ARLA driver Libby Bell at the Karl's Superstores 250 at California Speedway, William Power announced that he would be contacting Joel "Jinx" Rodriguez about coming on board for the remainder of the season.
"This is an area that I think I've sorely neglected in the past and I need address it fairly quickly," stated Power. "Valerie Forge is a fine driver and would do nicely in Libby's stead if called upon, but I think we need someone of high caliber to help tutor our young development driver's along. I heard Joel Rodriguez was interested in returning to competitive racing so I'll be making inquires into signing him on with our outfit here on a trial basis. I think it's a perfect scenario for all involved. He gets to get his feet wet and work his way up to speed and we get the benefit of his Master Cup experience. Of course he will be free to pursue other options should they arise. It'd give me a little piece of mind knowing he would be available to us should we need him."

PSI Has Been "Jinxed"

Power Steering Incorporated has announced that they have acquired the services of former ARLA and TMMC driver Joel "Jinx" Rodriguez for the remainder of the 2012 season. Rodriguez will help in all facets of testing as well as help tutor the younger drivers in the PSI development stable. It is believed that he will focus mainly on the ARLA series though. As in most cases with PSI contracts of this nature, Rodriguez will be free to pursue other legitimate rides elsewhere as long as it isn't in direct conflict with the interests of PSI at a given time. Basically, if a PSI driver were to become injured and PSI needed him to substitute for said driver, then Rodriguez must give PSI precedent over any other offers on the table at the time. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Power Pondering Bold TMMC "Americanization" Move

William Power sees the landscape changing in the Master Cup especially for American opportunities. "The American driver ranks are shrinking and their opportunities are dwindling," stated PSI's William Power.
"I'd like to see a more forceful and meaningful American presence in our most prestigious of series. I'm considering trying to garner support to petition TMMC officials for an "American Exemption" for 2013."
It'll probably be come to be known as the "Power Block" as Power wants to double the number of American entrants for his team because he feels American drivers are being squeezed out by the huge influx of overseas drivers.

"I want to be perfectly clear here. I have absolutely nothing against them or their nationality in any way, shape, or form. In fact, I've been at the forefront of giving them opportunities here. PSI has had Zelda Ashby, Marcos Leonard, Pierre Eiffel, Max Goose and Joel Rodriguez among others in our stable. So I think I'm the perfect person to make a push to keep a stronger American presence visible in the TMMC," Power elaborated.

Among the possibilities being bandied about is that Power could eventually dissolve the TMMC edition of PSI and form a new and unique squad granted by the "American Exemption." It could possibly be called the Patriotic American Racing Team Stars or "PARTS."

"Of course, the slots on the grid should go the the best and most skilled drivers regardless of nationality," Power continued. "But I'm seeing a lot of talented American drivers such as Tom Delgado, Scott Steudler, and Greg Woodard among others possibly without full time rides and I wanted to do something to help talented guys like this remain visible in the TMMC. Packer Carroll was on his way to being added to the list, but he won a race and is safe-- for now anyways. Everything is so tenuous for these guys and the common denominator is that they're Americans."

Although PSI has included foreign drivers on their payroll, they have always used an American chassis for their entrants. With Tonare likely to pull their support from PSI at season's end because of the Anthony Griffith fiasco, Power is looking into possible replacements. "I'm also exploring the idea of building our own in-house chassis, but that would take a huge financial investment commitment that I'm not sure would be in our best interest at this point."

Some others in the paddock suspect that Power's motives may not be wholly altruistic. "Power is tired of being mediocre and thinks a team of "all-stars" could finally catapult him to the top," stated a reliable source who spoke only under the condition of anonymity.

Power's eyes gleamed when he discussed the possibility of running special American flag themed paint schemes.

"It's just an idea. As is this whole thing. Like I said, I'm just considering the petition, but it is something to think about. Plus, our track record in dealing with TMMC officials hasn't been stellar either," Power stated. "We'll see if there's enough support to get this thing off the ground or it could die a swift death."

PSI to Have "Open Tryouts" for Last Rides of 2012

Ever the innovator, William Power has decided to try something never seen in Master Cup history. Basically forced into uncharted waters because of a never before encountered situation as a result of the Anthony Griffith fiasco, Power has decided to conduct "open tryouts" for the possibility of a secured ride in 2013. "Nothing is guaranteed at this point," Power stated. "We're still got a horse running hard in the Leonid Roderick sweepstakes. But instead of being angry and pouting over what happened with Griffith, I decided to look it as an opportunity to try something innovative and exciting, and to my knowledge, never seen at this level of racing. I just want to have some fun with this and get a new perspective on things. I want to clear the air and make the most of the fresh start for rest of this season. The Dalton and Griffith incidents have left us in a bit of shambles. But I always look to the future and know we will pick up the pieces and start the rebuilding process and be back better than ever in 2013."

The available slots will be:

15 Round of Indianapolis
16 Round of Victoria (Greg Woodard)
17 Round of Queensland (Scott Steudler)
18 Round of Brazil (Joel "Jinx" Rodriguez)
19 Round of British Columbia (Vijay Pushanda)
20 Round of Decatur (Ben Atkins)

Plissken to Pull 'Double Duty' @ Indy?

Once again, rumors are swirling that PSI maverick owner William Power is at it again. This time, it's at the Round of Indianapolis where he's trying to work his magic.
"If it's within the rules, our plan is to allow Kurt Plissken to attempt to make the Round of Indianapolis-- in both cars if necessary," Power stated. "While it may be against the spirit of the rules, it doesn't seem to be against the letter of the law. We have every intention of allowing Kurt two tries to qualify for the Round of Indianapolis. If he makes it in on the first attempt, then we have Gordon Sting standing by to attempt to qualify the #08 car. If for some reason, say Kurt gets wrecked by a psychotic former teammate with anger management issues in the first heat, then he'll jump into the #08 and try a second time in heat two."

William Power's comments on Rip Tyler after race 4:

"He got caught up in someone else's stuff early in the first few races and that has taken a toll on his run this year. I feel bad for him but I have every confidence that Rip will turn it around and make his presence known by seasons end."

Tyler Relishes Underdog Role
Rip Tyler is thrilled to be in the position of underdog. "Nobody's talking about me or even giving me a chance. I'm a non-factor at this point. All the talk is of Quiggy and Kuzzie winning the championship and that's just the way I like it."

Ben Atkins Bails on PSI at Decatur
"It seems that nobody wants to associate with us right now," stated PSI owner William Power. "Ben Atkins has just informed us that he's pulling out of the ride we were to supply him for the Round of Decatur. He at least told us early enough for us to find a replacement, but he didn't have the decency to tell us in person as he notified us through an impersonal text message. That's not the way we feel this should have been handled, but we'll deal with it, I suppose. First Griffith, then Roderick, and now Atkins. In this case, I guess it's better to have a "never was" than to have had a "has Ben," Power chuckled. He then let out a lengthy sigh and walked away from the microphone.

PSI Goes "All In" With Lycoia
PSI owner William Power made the announcement today that Power Steering Incorporated will be switching all of their operations over to Lycoias for 2013. "I've made the decision to go "all in" with Lycoia with every series that PSI competes in. It's a no-brainer for us at this point. Lycoia really gave us a sweet deal and this is our way of saying thank you to them. I anticipate all of our PSI entrants to be not only competitive, but formidable next season with Lycoia's support. It's something we haven't really had in the past and we're looking forward to this new experience. Now that we've got this issue settled, we can concentrate on the business at hand-- winning races!"

PSI Fills Decatur Vacancy

Power Steering Incorporated Owner William Power announced today that Scott Steudler has been tapped to replace Ben Atkins for the Round of Decatur. "It's nice to be finally bailed out as opposed to being bailed on," Power remarked. "We were really impressed with Scott's abilities at Queensland and don't think he was able to fully showcase his skills behind the wheel. Scott feels that day was an aberration and we at PSI totally agree. He was forced to start in the back of the field because of what transpired in the event preceding Queensland-- and unjustly at that. So we're happy to have Scott back with us and we're expecting a much better showing this time around. We have some data to work with this time and can set the car up much better for him so we'll be able to field a much more competitive racecar."

Did PSI "Jinx" Chances of Landing Roderick?

In the aftermath following the very serious crash suffered by PSI ARLA driver Libby Bell at the Karl's Superstores 250 at California Speedway, PSI may have inadvertently tipped the scale towards VRT in the Roderick Sweepstakes by signing Joel "Jinx" Rodriguez to be their reserve driver and tutor.
"It's been brought to our attention that that could have possibly been a factor in Leonid Roderick's decision. I hope that's not the case. It's unfortunate if it was. I suppose it's possible, but it doesn't sound like "Hot Rod" to me though," stated PSI owner William Power.

Spoiler:
Cynon wrote:FLASH Racing In-Fighting Dominates Post-Race Events

Following the massive crash Joel Rodriguez caused on lap 28, Leonid Roderick was none too pleased with him and shoved Rodriguez.

During their trip to the hauler, Roderick reportedly threw a punch at Rodriguez while in there, since Rodriguez walked out of there with a black eye.

"I told him to use his mirrors. I clearly saw them in his car after the crash." Roderick said.
"He was signed here to race, and all he's really done is whine and tear up cars. We let him keep the guys from his old team and he hasn't done anything to show he deserves that car. It's ridiculous, and he about killed three or four guys out there. Haven't heard anything from Joseph [Howard] or Ian [Cooper] yet, but I'm going to check on them as soon as I can. It's a shame that this has to occupy me."

FLASH Racing team owners appeared to let Leonid Roderick speak for them.

"It's difficult to argue with the statements Leo made." Frank Lawrence, one of the co-owners of FLASH Racing said.
"We will discuss the matter with Joel at another time, but the environment is tense, and the future for this team will be difficult."

What will become of Rodriguez? A penalty is expected, but Arto Kekkonen suggested that Rodriguez's long-term future with the team was already decided.

"I had a teammate in touring cars a few years ago that jumped a curb and took both me and my other teammate out. He got fired when the test driver was ready to debut a few rounds later." Kekkonen said.

Joel Rodriguez, from Puerto Rico, raced in the TM Master Cup series races up until 2009. He was fired from FLASH Racing after an incident on lap 28 at Chicagoland Speedway at the Round of Chicago in Joliet, Illinois. Rodriguez eventually crashed his teammate and race leader Leonid Roderick among others. Rodriguez had previously wrecked but refused to be a gracious back marker and eventually the two tangled. The two became involved in a shoving match and evidently tangled again on the way to the hauler and Rodriguez was dismissed from the team.

"I never dreamed that old incident would have come into play at this point in time-- and it may not have. To be honest, it never entered my mind. But whatever reasons lead Leonid to choose VRT over us we'll probably never know. We just want to wish him the best and hope he's content with his decision," Power stated. "We've moved on and are very happy now that we've secured the services of Greg Woodard and become a member of the Lycoia family. For the first time in a long while, things have been settled here and we can get back to the business of racing without worrying about all those outside distractions."

Power Weighs in on Lycoia "Popularity" Controversy

PSI owner William Power recently commented about the recent concerns over the rapid rise in popularity of Lycoia in motorsports.
"I'd tell them not let anyone rain on their parade. I'd tell them that they've worked long and hard at getting the Lycoia brand to be recognized and accepted into the TMMC and other series. Now that you're having some success and are reaping the fruits of your labors-- don't succumb to all this jealousy of Lycoia's "popularity" crap being flung your way. Isn't this "popularity" what you were hoping for when you started your program? Now that it's coming your way-- don't second guess yourself now to appease a few detractors. I'd proceed with your original plans and without an ounce of care as to what a few boneheads out there are saying. They have the same opportunity to create something just like you did. You've done a great job at building your brand. You've produced a solid, quality product. Hell, they should follow your business model of how to accomplish it, roll up their own sleeves and get to work instead of setting back and bellyaching about it. At PSI we didn't whine about how well the Quiggles was doing in ARLA, we worked harder and got better. Same when it came to the Altairs-- we didn't log one complaint. We knew we needed to up our game substantially for 2013. That's what this business is all about and I think we've done that with our Lycoia Interceptors. What's with this "quantity over quality" garbage anyway? We've been rigorously testing them for a while now and have been very impressed thus far-- they're tough and holding up well."

PSI Hopes TM Lights, ARLA Success Springboards TMMC Campaign

William Power has seen the ups and downs the past few seasons, mostly downs in their TMMC program. "We've experienced highs and lows for sure. We've put together excellent results by winning the TM Lights Championship in 2011 and capturing the ARLA crown in 2012. Jim Kidd has a legitimate shot at winning the ASCC title for Power Steering America. We're blossoming in every series except the TM Master Cup. Don't know why that is, but we think we've found a cure for our ills. There is a calm here that we haven't had the past few seasons. I'd call it a quiet confidence and I see it in the faces of everyone in the garage. We're looking forward to making a mark for Lycoia and showing that we can not only compete at this level, but thrive. We're expecting big things in 2013. We've paid more than our fair share of dues and we're ready to reap the benefits of all our hard work. The breaks have to go our way sometime. We're due. In fact, we're way past due."

Rodriguez To Legally Change His Name?

Joel "Jinx" Rodriguez recently hinted that he wanted to ditch his first name and legally adopt his nickname as his moniker. It would make sense-- to him at least. Would it please his parents? Neither Rodriguez or his handlers would issue a statement, but rumors have been circulating that it's already a done deal and that "Jinx" is just waiting for the paperwork to process.

Plissken Litters, Brings Out Caution @ Lenard 225

Witnesses claim that it was Kurt Plissken who dropped a hot dog wrapper on the infield grass that brought out a debris caution-- the only one of the day-- at the Lenard 225 in Atlanta.
"Slow news day or what?" Plissken responded. "I threw a wrapper in the general direction of the trash can, but the wind from the cars probably blew it out onto the infield. There's no way of knowing that it was my wrapper in particular that actually was the cause for the caution. I mean, there's hundreds of 'em floating around all over the place. How am I getting blamed for this?! If it was Nikki Curtis, then I could understand the fuss. But, oh yeah, I'm Kurt Plissken. It comes with the territory."

Plissken Snubs Children's Charity?

Evidently there is a grain of truth to the spurious news (and we use the term news loosely) organization C_InfoNewsNow scoop that Kurt Plissken has refused to participate in a charitable event which aspires to defray the costs of organ donation and transplantation-- particularly for needy children of low income families. C_InfoNewsNow has tweeted sensationalistic headlines in the past with little or no proof, but in this instance, they may have an actual real life story on their hands.

As more details have emerged, it seems that hair care company "Folli-Care" has a promotion called "Hair for Transplants" in which the public votes on celebrities who they will donate money to see get buzzed to help with the cost of organ transplants for children. Then Folli-Care will both match the donations and provide a venue for the event in an effort to raise public awareness.

Apparently, Kurt Plissken was a rather hot commodity and in demand after his recent win in Sweden and approached to cut his locks for the children's charity-- but he refused. Plissken, no stranger to controversy, is now knee deep in a public relations nightmare if he snubbed a charity devoted to helping sick and possibly dying children.

Other celebrities in the racing community such as Tom Delgado and even Plissken's own PSI teammate Greg Woodard both agreed and participated with the request. Speculation abounds as to if Woodard was asked so that his participation would force more pressure onto Plissken in hopes of garnering his compliance. Woodard finished 6th at Sweden, so it's possible that rumor is false, but it persists anyway.

"Kurt is his own person," stated PSI owner William Power. "He'll do what he wants, I don't have much influence over him when it comes to things outside of racing. They obviously don't know who they're dealing with."

Negativity is flowing freely in Plissken's direction, but he seems unfazed by the commotion.

"Last time I checked this was still America and I'm not going to be pressured into doing anything I don't want," a defiant Plissken responded. "I'm not cutting my hair for anyone or any reason."

It had been relatively smooth sailing for PSI this season after an embattled 2012 campaign, but that could be over now. Could Woodard's participation in the event add fuel to the fire? Can the peaceful equilibrium be upset in the PSI garage? Was this looming scandal being broken to the public be the reason Plissken made the error that cost him an easy win at Karjala?

If the past is any indication, Plissken should not see any significant dip in performance. It should also be noted that Plissken is not the only driver to refuse to cut their locks, but he seems to be bearing the brunt of the criticism.

PSI Signs Zack Webster for 2014

Power Steering Incorporated head William Power announced today that they have come to terms on a deal for Zack Webster to drive their third car in 2014. Joel "Jinx" Rodriguez will remain in PSI's third car for the remainder of the season. PSI has also filed paperwork to obtain the #23 for Webster-- the number he's been running in ARLA. Although not confirmed as of press time, it is believed that SuperCharged Energy will remain with Webster as he makes the jump into the TM Master Cup series.
"'Jinx' Rodriguez is a great guy but I think his attention is focused elsewhere," Power stated. "With all his other ventures, we just felt that it'd be best to let him go and seek other options. He has a lot or irons in the fire so to speak. His driving school is a huge demand on his time as well as trying to launch his own team. To be honest, we just haven't seen him around the garage that much lately. We were looking for more a commitment to PSI. We'd like wish Jinx the best and are still open to working with him in the future, but as for the present, I feel it was in both our best interests to part ways at the end of the season."

Of note is that Greg Woodard will spend his second consecutive season at PSI as Kurt Plissken's teammate-- a feat that's never been accomplished!
