OK, since this is a thread for NASCAR standings with alternate points systems, I decided to do the points using the systems for the CRL Modified Division and the TM Master Cup Series. Here's the Modified Division's points system for anyone who's new to the boards.

And now, the 2012 Sprint Cup points as they stand under the CRL Modified Division's system.

Here is the TM Master Cup Series' points system.

And now, the 2012 Sprint Cup points as they stand under the TM Master Cup Series' system.

I will work on how the points stand under the ARLA Elite Series system and the CRL Developmental Division system, which was used in real life as Champ Car's next-to-last points system.

Interesting. Under both of those, and F1 points, Jimmie Johnson is the currently leader, but under current NASCAR points, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the leader. That must mean only one thing.

I just finished converting every season in Cup history to the current F1 system. I was wondering, should I post them on this thread? Adding 60+ posts to this one might make it a bit too unwieldy.

Create spoiler sections and put the seasons in there. That should help.

Re: NASCAR with other points

Post by crl on Sun Oct 14, 2012 1:57 am

OK, so I took the 12 Chase drivers, reset their points to zero, and put them under the next-to-last Champ Car points system (20-16-14-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1, +1 point for pole, +1 point for leading the most laps).

In the case that a non-Chase driver leads the most laps in a race, the Chase driver who leads the most laps in a race is granted the bonus point. In the case that a non-Chase driver wins the pole, the bonus point for pole will NOT be awarded (a Chase driver has won the pole for all five races so far).

So here's how the points look:
1. Brad Keselowski - 67
2. Jimmie Johnson - 67
3. Denny Hamlin - 56
4. Jeff Gordon - 50
5. Clint Bowyer - 47
6. Kasey Kahne - 47
7. Martin Truex, Jr. - 36
8. Greg Biffle - 35
9. Matt Kenseth - 31
10. Kevin Harvick - 28
11. Tony Stewart - 27
12. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. - 23
