Timmy Hill got a Cup ride.
Ware joins forces with MaxQ: Rick Ware Racing and Poynt.com (free mobile app.) have finalized a deal to run Timmy Hill for the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Rookie of the Year. "I am very excited to have our sponsor and driver make a move up to the Sprint Cup Series" says owner Rick Ware. RWR will run the full Sprint Cup schedule with sponsor Poynt on board. Mike Wallace will drive the 54th annual Daytona 500. Timmy Hill, the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Rookie of the Year, will be at Daytona in his Poynt Nationwide Ford. Hill will start driving the #37 full time at Auto Club in March or Texas in April. RWR has joined forces with Larry Gunselman's Max Q Motorsports #37 for the full season. The Sprint Cup operation will run out of RWR's new 24,000 sq. ft. facility across the street from RWR's Nationwide and Rolex programs. Hill's crew chief will be veteran Bill Henderson. Ken Glen formerly of KHI will serve as Competition Director and Larry Gunselman will be General Manager of the #37 Poynt.com Ford.(Rick Ware Racing PR)(2-15-2012)

Someone needs to do a recap of this silly season because I honestly lost track of everything. Anyway, I have a feeling Timmy Hill might make Kevin Conway and Andy Lally look good.

Oh that's me! No, but seriously, I actually like Timmy Hill. Given the time, he could develop a lot of talent, but they're rushing him into this big time so I'm not really happy with this.
Re: Timmy Hill got a Cup ride.
I think Hill will have a great time out there on the track. I won't be suprised if he gets a top 10 finish.

If that happens, certain people on here would sh*t bricks.

What are you smoking? With Max Q he'll be lucky to qualify for half the races he attempts.

Yeah, sure, if the 2002 Talladega Busch series crash happens again and Timmy Hill (typically) is going too slow to miss the wreck...
But on merit? Hell no.
The problem with comparing Timmy Hill and Kevin Lepage is that before Lepage made it to Cup he proved he was actually a competent driver in the Busch series and won a few races. Kevin Lepage generally made very few errors and was really very anonymous until he Lepaged the field.

To be honesting I didn't like what he did for causing that massive wreck in the 2008 Aaron's 312 when he merged right infront of the entire field. I generally do think though that this Sprint Cup Contract will give Timmy Hill a big boost of confidence for 2012.

Timmy also has a sucky team he's driving for (MaXQ Motorsports, owned by none other than NASCAR failure Larry Gunselman).

I firmly believe Trey Ashby would do better than TIMMEH. I think one day, ROTY will be back to where it used to be.

Danica is running for ROTY this year. Timmy just wants to beat her.
Wow, I just noticed that if Timmy does in fact win ROTY, he will have won the ROTY in NASCAR in two consecutive years (N'Wide in '11 and Cup in '12).

I like Timmy Hill, but please stay in the Nationwide Series. You got a ride there. Stay there.

Agreed. Timmy has just one year NASCAR experience and not much other racing experience besides that. He should just stay in N'Wide. Maybe someday he'll be ready for Cup.

Poor teams with slow cars need money to get faster.
A driver has money and wants a ride, doesn't matter if it's a bad one.
See how the two meet? Just how things go when you're at the back of the grid.

Ex: Deletraz, Inoue, Lamy, Montermini, etc.
Timmy Hill isn't a terrible driver. Definitly not on the level of Conway. Showed some flashes last year and put in some good runs. However, I agree wholeheartedly that Timmy should spend another season in Busch. Rushing your way to cup in a shitty ride is a great way to end a promising career. Gunselman trash alert!
And yes, unfortunately Timmy Hill is going to be the next ROTY. Like the award means anything now anyways.
