Well, here our 1 caution for every truck race..................
Townley returning to truck series; ROTY candidate: RAB Racing with Brack Maggard announced Friday that John Wes Townley will compete for 2012 Rookie of the Year honors in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, driving its Toyota Tundra. Townley, 22, has made seven starts in the Camping World Truck Series, most recently at Phoenix International Raceway in November 2008. Townley will join teammate Kenny Wallace, driver of the #09 Toyota Camry in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. While the season-opening event will mark Townley's first laps at Daytona International Speedway in Camping World Truck Series competition, he is no stranger to the World Center of Racing. In three ARCA Racing Series starts, the Watkinsville, Ga., native has two top-five finishes, including a career-best finish of third in February 2010. Townley will be backed by new sponsors for the 2012 season, as well as current sponsors of RAB Racing's NASCAR Nationwide Series program. The 22-race NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule kicks off on Feb. 24 at Daytona International Speedway.(RAB Racing PR)(1-13-2012)

Saw this on SpeedTV (they're usually ahead of Jayski), and was grinning at this news.

WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY?
This guy has clearly showed that he can't drive in NASCAR. This team better be getting paid really well, because they're going to have to pay double that for all the damage Townley will cause to their equipment.

Wasn't the first time Jon Wes Townley has done this. He got caught doing the same thing at Las Vegas in '09.

And that time he was underage. Also, it was actually 2010, cause remember Morgan Shepherd replaced him.

He can barely drive sober, what the hell made him think he can drive intoxicated?

I'm not sure if I should be laughing and cheering at this, or to rage at him.
Also love how someone brings up a driver who only had 1 DUI in comparison to a idiot driver who does nothing but wreck racecars AND has now 2 DUIs. Not even worth a comparison.

Re: Well, here our 1 caution for every truck race..................
I agree. Wes Townley has proved he's learned absolutely nothing from his previous offense by going on the road intoxicated and continuing to put more lives at risk. What a jacka**.RACECAR wrote:I'm not sure if I should be laughing and cheering at this, or to rage at him.

Micheal Annett, mind you was somewhat like 4 times over the legal limit and then he resisted arrest. I think its a fair comparison. Anyone covicted of DUI, needs their *** kicked out of Nascar and banned for eternity, unless they really show improvement.

Ands thats a fair comparison to someone who did it twice, once underage?
Kicking out and banning anyone for one DUI is far too strict. These incidents always take place away from the track and unless they are too stupid to learn from the first time like Townley, the effects don't even affect on track performance. What would have happened if AJ would have been kicked for his ONE DUI? Then he likely wouldn't have won the Rolex 24 this past month or gotten a ride at Penske, would he? And then you have alot of drivers (Including a member of the France family, who did FAR worse) that by your logic should've long been removed.
Re: Well, here our 1 caution for every truck race..................
If I recall correctly, AJ's BAC was .08 when he was arrested.RACECAR wrote:f1fan12 wrote:RACECAR wrote:I'm not sure if I should be laughing and cheering at this, or to rage at him.

Nascar is a privilege, If they blow it, then they shouldn't be allowed back, its my personal opinion. I belive these drivers are ambassadors for the sport of NASCAR, and if they brake a law. Consiquences need to be strict. These drivers have fans, look at Micheal Annett, everyone excpet me seems to like him, he may be a nice guy, but, Townley and Annett both were in car accedents. Luckly, severe injury wasn't expected, one of these drivers could have killed another person or themselves. Maybe if penalties were as harsh as I would like them, maybe that would hold some weight towards them before they make the desicion to drink and drive. And it would strike a bit of fear in the other drivers as well. But Nascar doesn't put any sanction on these drivers, which is the completely wrong thing to do.
Edit: Annett had a 3.8 BAC rating. Thats way too high.
