- Spoiler:
- Woodard finishes 1 lap down in Rookie Shootout, 'could have been worse' mentality going through Patriot Racing camp
The Rookie Shootout for Woodard was at best mixed for him as he finished 12th, and one lap down. He had sustained damage from multiple cautions including the most after jacking up Barton Sandy during the chaos.
"Look, it seems that whether it's on the track or online, Barton's car always seems to find the front of my car, specifically the left rear quarterpanel." He was pissed at several other drivers and wanted to give them a nice punch in the face... but he decided it would be the best option and not take Delgado's and Rigg's thing.

- Spoiler:
- Gaffigan, Eisenman, and Hetsuno Struggle in Rookie Shootout, Delgado Angry at Performances and Expects Better
After his three rookie entries (Kyle Gaffigan, Drew Eisenman, and Kiriki Hetsuno) flamed out in the 2012 Rookie Shootout, MRD Motorsports owner Tom Delgado was none too pleased with his team's efforts. He was perplexed as to why Gaffigan's car pretty much gave up on him so early in the race, and was none too happy with Eisenman's lack of pace, and Hetsuno's inability to escape other people's garbage. He started, however, with congratulating his girlfriend Ashley Tucker on winning.
"First off, I want to congratulate my girlfriend Ashley on winning this race. That move she made to take the lead was brilliant, but I guess I need to teach her to keep the car off the walls late in the race *laughs*. As for our efforts tonight, you always want to make a statement early on, especially if you have an entry in the rookie shootout. We had 3 cars and drivers capable of winning the shootout, and what happens? Not even one in the top 10. We could never figure out what happened with Kyle's car and quite honestly we should have just kept him off the track until we figured it out. At that point, we weren't gonna win anyway. Kiriki got into a wreck that she really shouldn't have gotten into. She's learning and that's what happens when you have someone going through the learning process. As for Drew, he didn't give us any idea of why the car wasn't up to speed. I don't know if it was a car issue or a driver issue, but either way, color me not pleased. I made sure our guys knew it afterwards, this set of results will not be tolerated on a regular basis. I told them to get all the negativity out of the way now, because I would not stand for it during the season" Delgado said, going on a bit of a rant. "We all did a terrible job tonight, and that has to change, and it has to change pretty quickly if we're going to have ANY success to speak of this season" Delgado added, walking away and then sprinting to victory lane to celebrate with his girlfriend.

- Zins nabs a fourth place in first start
THe A1 Racing team should be pleased with Zachary Zins as he took home a fourth place finish in his debut start in the Rookie Shootout. A press release from the teams website states "We expect great things from this kid."
When asked if his finish was only because of the rookie field, Zins had the following to say:
"Watch the sky on Tuesdays, they can hear you..."

- Spoiler:
- Tucker wins Rookie Shootout; Shocks herself
Ashley Tucker was on the radio with 2 laps to go saying "I'm so nervous, I don't know if I can bring this car home..." but when she seen the checkered flag, she just screamed "I did it!" repeatedly with her pit crew applauding her, and celebrating themselves. The car wasn't pretty after the race, with a ton of right side damage, but it was a winning car, and that's all that mattered to Tucker.
"I honestly can't believe I just won that thing!" said Tucker, "I'm completely shocked with the outcome of this race. I thought Bill had me when I started slamming the wall. When the caution came out on the last lap, I let out a huge sigh of relief, and when I made it across the line, I was overwhelmed. I'm still overwhelmed right now, that I'm standing here in victory lane. I'd like to thank everyone who supported me, including my team, Riggs Motorsports, Tom [Delgado], my boyfriend, my sponsor, and all of my fans. I couldn't have done this without you guys!"
Tucker then went back to celebrating with her team.

- Spoiler:
- Pushanda very critical about rookie class
(Read this, like Kimi Riakkonen say it)
Vijay Pushanda ran top 5 througout the rookie shootout, but was very critical of the rookie class. "Some of the drivers, had made some, questionable desicions out on the track. Even the winner, drove very, very, strange. The Irish guy in the 11 was a complete, nimrod out there. Ashley Tucker, made a few questionable hits when she had the lead. And the Pi car was the best car on the track, minus the Tissom and Tucker cars. It will be quite difficult season if the drivers are being overaggressive like they did today."

- Spoiler:
- Sandy comments after the race
Barton Sandy got in 2 wrecks, one with Greg Woodard and another with Nikos Kastapolous.
Sandy's comments after the race. "Typical Greg Woodard running in the back of you, he does it when we are online racing on TMMC Racing Season 2003, I mean, come on, this isn't a video game. I tried to avoid Kastapolous, the spotter said that he was coming down the race track, until I was there and I plowed him, unfortunate for these guys on our team
O.O.C: Woodard has wrecked me like that in online racing before lol.

- Spoiler:
- Woodard explains the physics and theories behind the collision
"Two things: One - I used my brakes, however, going at that speed? I wouldn't have been able to stop in time anyway. Two - I was already commited to the high lane and I couldn't get around the wreck if I tried. Trust me, if I was able to avoid him, I would have. Unlike a video game, I actually have a steering wheel and brakes." He continued, "At least I wasn't intentionally hitting people, I mean come on, Patrick HENDERSON should know better, and how is it a bright idea to let people who have NO racing experience into a professional racing experience? I thought the officials would have stopped allowing these types of drivers after the fiasco that was named Randy McFlasher. Personally, I'm thankful that I'm okay, and I hope that Barton doesn't suffer any injuries. If he thinks I'm out to get him, that's not the case. Now... if he attempts to force me into these kind of situations? I hope he can avoid a wrench."
OOC: Yes Barton, I realized the irony of our cars crashing and it was very similar to what happened at Eight Bowl, you get caught up in a wreck and I can't avoid your car

Re: 2012 Apex Racing School Rookie Shootout
- Spoiler:
- After a bit of an extended visit to the infield care center, Nikos Kastapolous talked to reporters about the 17th place finish at the Rookie Shootout:
"Well, that was all me on that last wreck there... I'm sorry to the guys at Carcia-Aragon who worked their tails off this week tryna bang out this car with everything in their power. I'm kind of on the fence right now about this new car.. id like to run in some more tracks but i dont see too much of a difference in our racing. But overall, let's keep this as a practice run for the main event here in Dallas and try to get a good finish then."
Of course, he had something to say about Hartson's little tussle on the track with the 728.
"Jacob Hartson probably should get some more testing in... I didn't exactly get how he was able to just turn himself around like that right in front of me.. not that experienced i see. but hey, I finally learned how to get cosmetic damage instead of race ending damage in a situation like that so I guess I'm improving!
by the way ceej, it says on the driver profile thing for me "Dominic Aragon Motorsports" when it should be "Carcia Aragon Motorsports". Not trying to be a jurk or anything but i just wanted to point it out.

- Spoiler:
- Matthews finishes 5th in Shootout:
"That was fun!"
Those were the first words Tiffany Matthews said after hopping out of her No. 116 Lenard after finishing fifth in the 2012 edition of the Rookie Shootout.
"The car felt really good out there," she said. "I have to give a shout out to the guys at the shop for giving me such a good car."
Matthews now turns her attention to the races that matter, starting with the Smash Beer 200 on the same track.
"I feel like I've got a little bit of a head start on the other guys since I've been out on the track in race conditions," she said. "Granted, there were a few guys out there who couldn't get out of their own way, but then again, Dudding might be in my race, so who knows."

Re: 2012 Apex Racing School Rookie Shootout
- Spoiler:
- Cranston unhappy about race, performances of other drivers
Lane Cranston probably didn't expect his and MT Motorsports' ARLA Elite Series debut to be a winning one.
But he certainly would've liked for it to go better than it did. Cranston's day ended on Lap 32 of 100, after his camshaft failed.
However, it wasn't as bad as having to avoid three other accidents, a product of being stuck in the back in the pack after drawing the 19th starting spot.
It started on the opening lap, after Jarkko Forsstrom and Lawrence Burr got tangled up coming out of Turn 2. The pair spun into Turn 3, after Forsstrom clipped Greg Woodard's right rear, creating a gap that was just enough for Cranston to squeeze through, though he clipped Burr's left rear quarter panel on the way past.
"It's the first lap, for God's sake," Cranston said. "The green flag just dropped. Settle into a position and sit for a few laps, unless you have a great car right from the get-go. That accident didn't need to happen."
Cranston avoided the Lap 8 incidents, the first of which saw Mac Rhylen and this week's "Drive the Dream" competitor Jacob Hartson tangle, sending Rhylen into the inside wall on the backstretch. Rhylen slid back up the track and collided with Darren Grant, creating a traffic jam. Just a few feet ahead, Jennifer Goodwin, who was involved in the opening lap incident, suddenly stopped in the middle of the track, causing her to be hit by Ben Atkins. The pair spun down the track, collecting a few other cars. Cranston just avoided both accidents.
"Why do you stop in the middle of the race track? That is beyond dangerous. Goodwin could've taken us all out."
Cranston just got past the Lap 15 incident, which saw Barton Sandy get knocked into the air in a multi-car pileup.
"You get a bunch of rookies, plus a guy who's never raced before [Hartson], and stupid crashes happen. I'm just glad I won't be around all rookies in our first points race."
Ashley Tucker won the Rookie Shootout, collecting 25 bonus points for doing so.

Re: 2012 Apex Racing School Rookie Shootout
- Spoiler:
- Graham charges to a third place finish.
In what was a rather eventful Rookie Shootout, Jessica Graham managed to charge up despite being involved in a early incident to finish 3rd admits the chaos.
"It was amazing how we managed to get the car to work as the race went on, it shows how the team is listening to my input about the car and helping make the adjustments as needed to show that we can do more than what we've shown in the past.
While many are critical of the new breed of drivers, due to some of the incidents that happened in the race, Graham had somewhat more nicer things to say about her competitors.
"The drivers for the most part were making their debut at this kind of level, so it's only natural that a number of them would feel nervous behind the wheel, but as the race went on most drivers became less anxious and more calm behind the wheel, give them time and most of them will eventually become better drivers behind the wheel...at least here the drivers show improvement."

- Spoiler:
- Grant Pleased with 10th in Rookie Event
In Darren Grant's first ARLA outing he showed determination after an early wreck literally took some of car away from him. Grant's efforts ended up in a 10th-place finish, which he and the team seemed pleased about.
"Obviously, you come out here to win, but it was a good run. We were swept up in a wreck early on and had to take the spoiler and some of the back off the car, but we adapted to it and made it work. We stayed out of basically everything else, so a 10th-place is a good result for us today. It is a good way to start and hopefully we can start this season with a bit of momentum."

PSI "Encouraged" by Tonare Thunderbolt Performance at 2012 Rookie Shootout
PSI owner William Power was in attendance at the new Dallas Speed Park to witness the 2012 Rookie Shootout and said that he was "encouraged" by what he saw out of the lone Tonare Thunderbolt in the field. Power stated that Bill Tissom had an "impressivbe run."
"Well, we came down here for a fact finding expedition of sorts. As of right now, I think that there's only 9 Tonare's in the entire field this season and we're running a third of them. There's not been a whole lot of information sharing going on either. But we've resolved our fuel/engine compatibility question now, so that's a relief. Spirit fuel gave us the best horsepower to fuel consumption ratio and we're pleased because it'll make it so much simpler on the rest of our operation down the line-- Master Cup and Lights, I mean."
"The Thunderbolt looked like it could be a major factor in the series when the right driver is behind the wheel. Of course, this was such a small sampling to judge anything by, but like I said, I'm encouraged and satisfied that we made the right choice by going with Tonare. I've got to run and get back to Indianapolis to process what we learned tonight. Plus, the weather looks kind of ominous and I want to get out ahead of what looks like an impending storm," Power commented as he moved through the crowd.
